If the Raiders make the playoffs this year, they've definitely earned it.
They earned it last year.If the Raiders make the playoffs this year, they've definitely earned it.
He’s a full back. Coming off an acl tear. His ST play was his biggest asset. Gruden is gone. No more fake jet sweep, FB blast. That rarely worked.I am surprised by this. I thought his blocking and catch ability would be a great fit for McDaniels.
The torn ACL may have been a factor here.
Catch ability? He has 28 catches on 35 targets over three seasons.
I always thought his big promise was grinding out short yardage 1st downs and slamming LBs in the hole.
Yes, I understand how that sounds now.
JFC. Of course Mack is coming back to the division to harass the Raiders and throw salt in the wound of that horrible decision. God I don’t missI just worry about Mack in Tecmo "Excellent" condition twice a year against, guess who?
I'd pay a lot to keep him out of the division. At least as much as the cost of acquisition.
NE has used FBs before. He’s a full back. Coming off an acl tear. His ST play was his biggest asset. Gruden is gone. No more fake jet sweep, FB blast. That rarely worked.

The restricted Rights tender would have been 2.4 mil. The second round tender was 3 mill and the 1st round tender was 5 mil. It's no surprise they didn't tender him. That's too much for a FB.NE has used FBs before.
Not in a meaningful way. I liked ingold. Great dude. But it’s a business. I’d much rather have a solid backup OL with that money.NE has used FBs before.
Titans didn't franchise Landry, I'd be all for another pass rusher, need more than 2 good ones these days. And more DBs, Jackson or Davis. Then a veteran RT. Maybe Collins if hes healthy. So what's on the wish list ladies & gentlemen?
Maybe a Brandon Scherff? Carlton Davis and/or Marcus Williams? Trade for Eddie Goldman?
Personally I would approve of any or all of them but with the arrival of Russell Wilson I'm thinking another big time pass rusher to rotate in with Maxx & Yannick would be nice. I am generally opposed to signing older guys but a Chandler Jones or Robert Quinn would really help keep necessary pressure on guys like Mahomes, Herbert & Wilson all game.
Cost of acquisition for either would probably be too steep but I really believe bolstering pass rush is a much bigger priority than it was a week ago.
RT should be a priority but there aren't many tackles out there. Armstead leads the pack but is going to want LT money. Eric Fisher would be a solid, more affordable, option. Hard no on Trent Brown!!!Titans didn't franchise Landry, I'd be all for another pass rusher, need more than 2 good ones these days. And more DBs, Jackson or Davis. Then a veteran RT. Maybe Collins if hes healthy.
Yes, Landry signed a long term deal with Tennessee.Eddie Goldman was released by the Bears after not finding a suiter. 28 year old NT. He'll get some interest in the FA Market I'm sure.
And I believe Landry wasn't tagged, because the Titans resigned him ahead of the tag deadline.
I worry just a bit about NE FAs in general, particularly on defense. I don't think Jackson is scheme dependent, or Belichik dependent, but...at the price I'd rather save the money and maybe go after a Darious Williams, DJ Reed or Rasul Douglas type and try to add in maybe Marcus Williams too.Titans didn't franchise Landry, I'd be all for another pass rusher, need more than 2 good ones these days. And more DBs, Jackson or Davis. Then a veteran RT. Maybe Collins if hes healthy.
he tweeted that the extension was signed today. no details yet. Also, today marks 2 years of sobriety for Maxx Crosby. Would love to hear of a contract extension today for him.
4 years, worth up to $99M, are the early reports.he tweeted that the extension was signed today. no details yet.
I will be posting my thoughts on what I think shoulf be our FA/Draft moves but the player I think I will say is my top get would be JC Jackson. It will be expensive and it also means not bringing back Hayward but I think it makes sense. I will dive into my reasoning a little more later when I post that.So what's on the wish list ladies & gentlemen?

JuJu is a slot guy. No thanks.I would also love to see them take a shot on JuJu Smith-Schuster. He's potentially a head-case but he's 25, demonstrated top end ability and is in position to take a prove-it deal. I think it's worth the risk.
JC Jackson would be a great get. Jackson, Mullen, Abram, Moehrig, and Hobbs looks like a really good secondary.I will be posting my thoughts on what I think shoulf be our FA/Draft moves but the player I think I will say is my top get would be JC Jackson. It was reported somewhere that there is interest from Raiders on Chark. I am all for it.Someone took a screengrab from, what looks like, DJ Chark's instagram story. It seems to show that Chark is in Vegas. Really not a story here, given that it's Vegas afterall. And why wouldn't a young guy want to be in Vegas for the any given weekend.
BUT... to play a bit of a conspiracy theorist for a moment, this very coming Monday at 1pm PT is the start of the legal tampering window where teams can start talking to free agents.
I'm not saying, I'm just saying...
The Raiders must focus on O line and d line. In this division full of high powered offenses, the Raiders should make sure they can run the ball to control the tempo of games as much as possible. D line is an obvious need.they need defensive players badly. the defense is a mystery. they have edge rushers, zero interior DL. mostly overpriced/underperforming lbs. some young dbs, some good/some bad. CB is a need.
and then there's the o line issues. the right side is bad.
i'd rather them spend the money on a RT and do the NE thing with mid tier, to never heard of them defensive players.
we'll see
I remember seeing stats before about him having a 49ish QB rating against him and keeping that even when breaking out the elite #1 WR's. He had Gilmore on the other side for two of the last three seasons. Unsure why offenses still threw near him last year. Him with Mullen on the other side and Hobbs in the slot? I like that. Yannick and Maxx with hopefully some pressure up the middle and it would go a long way to blunting the attacks of top offenses we will have 6 times a year of Mahomes, Herbert, and Wilson plus the AFC of offenses lead by guys like Allen and Burrow.I worry about breaking the bank on JC Jackson just because I have so much respect for Belichick's ability put players in position to succeed.
I respect the fact that he has 17 picks over the last two seasons (22 over the last three) but I also wonder why teams throw in his direction so often that he has that many opportunities to pick the ball.
It's an unfair comparison but I'm going to make it anyway, Deion Sanders maxed out at 13 picks over two seasons (16 over three).
Jalen Ramsey, Jaire Alexander, Stephen Gilmore, Tre'davious White etc. They don't get challenged enough to make that many picks. Only Xavien Howard seems to get that many opportunities. I like corners that opposing teams try to avoid.
It's obviously a reductive analysis, but it's a bit of a concern, to me and probably only me, for the cost of acquisition.
If anyone has access to higher level data for how many times DBs are targeted overall, I'd love to see it.
Really? Do tell….Chadstroma said:It was reported somewhere that there is interest from Raiders on Chark. I am all for it.
Luff ewe Chad I agree with most of this. Except kwiat. Move on.The Raider Off Season by Chad
The offense is a little easier for to pick out one what to do for me as defense is a little harder as I can't say for sure what exactly Graham wants out of his players other than versatility. We have a long history of NE offense that was under McDaniels to go off of but I just can't say that I have paid much attention to the Giant defense the last couple of years.
First part is extending our priority players. We got one done with Maxx and I would like Carr and Renfrow done as well. Mullen with his injury can wait but look for that later as soon as we see that he is healthy.
Cutting Littleton, Nassib and Kwiat will free up $24 million for us.
Next step is our free agents. Out of these players Zay Jones should get consideration if the money is right. He did step up and played well down the stretch. If you took his production from the Dallas game on and converted that into a whole year he would have been about a 92 catch season for 896 yards but oddly, no touchdowns. I don't want him as a full time starter but he clearly has shown his worth. He may seek to find a bigger pay day but if we can bring him back around the $3 million area, I would be happy with that.
There are a slew of defensive players. Basically our entire DT group- Hankins, Jefferson, Thomas and Philon and actually even McCoy. McCoy hasn't played for 2 years with back to back season ending injuries and is getting long in the tooth on top of that as 32 so it is hard to see them bringing him back but Hankins is a reliable run stopper. Jefferson, Thomas and Philon were a good rotation that did produce some pressure up the middle with 9.5 sacks between the 3. Philon's injury makes him less likely to being brought back but Jefferson and Thomas could be. Other than that, Morrow is another player that can go either way. An ascending player that had high expectations for this year but then was injured. We should have all the info we need to make a decision on him. His injury may make him a risk but it should also make him cheap to bring back.
The offense just needs some tweaking for the most part. The two areas that need to be addresses is the offensive line and then a WR addition. The offensive line is tricky. We have Kolton Miller who is the anchor at LT. James improved much as the season went on and I am not concerned with him. Good is, well, Good and should come back from the injury and his versatility should be to play LG. That leaves the right side and Leatherwood. How does the coaching staff see him? Guard or Tackle? When asked at the combine, McDaniels called him a contributor. They will need to make a decision on this soon though because it will be cost prohibitive to invest heavily in both while we have him. If we do not see him as a tackle, the top end available players are Morgan Moses, Germaine Ifedi and hold your breath.... Trent Brown. Ifedi has spent time at both guard and tackle but one year lead the league in penalties. Moses is and older vet who excels in run blocking. And we know Trent Brown. If not for having McDaniels, I would rule out Trent Brown, but McDaniels has got the best out of him. However, he did lose out on time with injuries last year with NE as well. None of them scream the answer but either could be. If we they think Leatherwood can play RT then we need to bring in a RG. Scherff is the first many will have on their wish list but he is expected to sign for around $12 a year and I don't know if that is a luxury we can afford, beyond that there are a slew of about 30 year old's that could be brought in.
For the WR position. What I would like to do is sign Chark. Supposedly, the Raiders have interest in him as well. It makes sense. He is a speedy guy with size that has produced one bad teams with not very good QB play. The big question on him is health. The beautiful thing about signing Chark is that he checks all the boxes but also should not need to break the bank. We can go into the draft free to take a WR or not based on who we like the most. Similar to how we signed Agholor and then drafted Ruggs. If a guy like Olave falls to 22, we can still take him and be a better team for it with Chark there as well.
As mentioned to begin, defense gets a little murky to give specifics. Hayward was awesome for us and still has gas but Hayward may be best suited for a zone heavy system. I can not remember what defense the Packers played while he was with them but with the Chargers and us, it has been and he has excelled, in the zone while Graham will play much more man to man with blitz packages. Assuming we move on, the one big target I think we should spend money on to go and get is JC Jackson. He is an elite CB who gets the ball back with INT's and coming from NE should be a good fit for what Graham wants to do. He will be expensive and it will be tough to grab him and still do all we need to do but it might be the best investment we can make.
We have to sign a bunch of DT's. Austin Johnson should be a name to keep in mind. I like the rotation of him, Jefferson and Thomas brought back along with Hankins or another NT run stopper that sucks up blockers. Taylor Stallworth and Taven Bryan are names to keep in mind as well.
Along with our star DE's of Yannick and Maxx, we need another rotational piece that can add pressure. I think there is a very high chance that the versatility that Cle brings could mean more snaps and more production but we need a replacement and upgrade over Nassib whom I believe will be cut with $8 is savings over $1.6 is dead cap after June 1st. I am not sure who that is really, we can't spend as much as we did on Nassib for this. We just need someone to come in for 300 or so snaps a year and provide a good pass rush.
I am going to assume Perryman is out MLB but I am a little worried about that. Perryman excelled in the Bradley system but was happily shipped off when he went to another team outside of that system. The good news is that he is only $3 million of a cost to us if we believe he can continue to play similar to as he did last year and if not, we can cut him with no dead money. I do like the idea of seeing if we can bring Kwiat back or restructure his contract for a lot less. He is a guy that I think can thrive in a Graham system as he does everything well as a jack of all trades type. He may not be sexy and he was a very poor scheme fit for Bradley but he can play. Don'ta Hightower and Kyle Van Noy should be considered as well.
On the outside, Deablo really showed development and promise. Other than him... we have nothing at OLB. There are a number of just short of 30 year olds we can go after but De'Vondre Campbell could be a great target here. Jamie Collins would be a good addition as well.
After all that fun then going into the draft we can look at the best player available that we like and take him. Positions that I think we should and will give special consideration to will be WR, OL, DT, LB and CB.
Trading OT La’el CollinsIf the Cowboys end up releasing La'el Collins ($15.25 cap hit) there should be a Raider shaped Road Runner esque dust cloud left behind as they race to sign him.
I hope they are in discussions with the Cowboys right now on a trade for him. Say, Leatherwood and a 4th or 5th.
The Raiders have the cap space to cover that pretty easily.Trading OT La’el Collins

I haven't heard the Raiders mentioned in discussions yet, I hope they do.The Raiders have the cap space to cover that pretty easily.
He's not best RT in the league but he's the best potentially available one and a clear, massive upgrade to Parker & Leatherwood.
The defenses of the AFCW are going to get lit-up for the next couple of years. Invest in AFCW kickers.Bottom line, they need help on defense at every level
Besides the picks they would have given up to get him that would be a lot of the cap to tie up in Crosby, Mack and Ngakoue, especially when only two of them can be on the field at the same time probably. As you stated there are plenty of other holes to fill with that money. And I'm sure their working on Carr right now but when I see the Dolts only have to spend a 2nd and a 6th for Mack, I'm scratching my head and wondering why the heck wouldn't the Raiders be in the market to bring him back at such a cheap price?
Davis can't bust out the checkbook until Wednesday. Until then it's trades. It's a little concerning that the Chargers and Broncos are loading up to challenge KC and the Raiders are kind of standing around with their thumbs up their you know whats. I know they just extended Maxx which is great, take care of your home grown talent first. And I'm sure their working on Carr right now but when I see the Dolts only have to spend a 2nd and a 6th for Mack, I'm scratching my head and wondering why the heck wouldn't the Raiders be in the market to bring him back at such a cheap price?
As myself and many have stated before, this team has lots of holes to fill, especially on D. After the combine, no way Jordan Davis makes it to the Raiders, but in my opinion, they still should grab the BPA on defense. And they they need corners badly, seems like every year their depth in the secondary is about as deep as a kiddie pool.
If they leave Leatherwood at gaurd and get Good back then all they really need is a RT. I would rather them sign a vet to fill that void than go through the draft, Carr always plays better when he trusts his Oline, bringing in another rookie might be too much inexperience at this point.
I know, I know WR is the flashy pick and Olave is very tempting, he's got Raiders WR written all over him, and he could possibly fill Ruggs' role. But this is a new offense and new philosophy. Avoid the temptation, it's a very deep draft for WRs this year, we can grab one later or in free agency.
Bottom line, they need help on defense at every level, on top of that, their learning a completely new scheme. I know its early, but they have a lot of work to do just to stay competitive in their own division. I see the Dolts and Donks making moves and it's just crickets in Sin City, c'mon Mark, bust out the checkbook!
We have plenty of cap space. Carr is cheap, reallyCollins on the “cheap” would be awesome. Although he told the cowboys to pound sand when they asked him to restructure. So he’ll probably demand big money.
I’m still hoping for a carr deal that frees up more cap space.
Agreed. But if he signs an extension and defers some money down the line, he could be cheaper. We have plenty of cap space. Carr is cheap, really
I dunno... saw a report... it was a kind of weak reporting so I didn't repost it here.Really? Do tell….Luff ewe Chad

Leave my Kwiat aloneI agree with most of this. Except kwiat. Move on.
Parker is a FA. It is clear he is best suited as a backup. The Raiders have the cap space to cover that pretty easily.
He's not best RT in the league but he's the best potentially available one and a clear, massive upgrade to Parker & Leatherwood.
Yea, my thought too... if we didn't have Yannick... sure but how do you play the three of them while investing that much money in them.Besides the picks they would have given up to get him that would be a lot of the cap to tie up in Crosby, Mack and Ngakoue, especially when only two of them can be on the field at the same time probably. As you stated there are plenty of other holes to fill with that money.
The trades are not even done either, just agreements.Davis can't bust out the checkbook until Wednesday. Until then it's trades.
Just teasing ya bud. Would you rather have chark or trade for Lockett?I dunno... saw a report... it was a kind of weak reporting so I didn't repost it here.
I'm trying to decide if playing Parker is worse than not fielding a RT at all.Parker is a FA. It is clear he is best suited as a backup.
