That's really cool. I found in another article that Hallam apparently had sold and/or given them to someone else who put them up for auction. Figured I'd have to die before my estate sold something this awesome.

It’s amazing how a guy that is averaging 27 points a game, is the leader in total assists this season, is tied for 9th in total steals this season, tied for 3rd in 3pt field goals made this season is somehow thought of as being nothing but a flopper. Trae doing Trae things is literally almost going for 30 and 10 almost every game. Yeah—he might flop a couple/few times a game—but let’s not overlook the fact that he’s single handedly accounting for 50 or more points a game for his team. It’s a shame that he didn’t make the all star team.

The Trae Young hatred is entirely reasonable IMO. If you want to understand why, peruse the PG statistical rankings for last season.
There are five PGs who shot 8+ free throws a game: SGA, Luka, Lillard, Ja, and our friend Trae. Nobody else took more than 6 a game.
Can you guess where Trae ranks among his peers in the FT Frequent Flyers Club in field goal attempts and in every single shooting efficiency statistic? I bet you can!
And can you guess where he ranks among those peers in the turnover/game category? I bet you can guess that one too!

The Bucks bench is a weakness but I’m not sure they can do anything about it. Giannis and Dame are 50% of their salary and if you add Lopez and Middleton those 4 players are 80%. Only one of them is playing up to their contract. They are in something called the double tax apron which means their options are somewhat restricted. We‘ll see what happens this week.

If things play out that way, the Celtics would win the top seed by 7-10 games. If that were the case, I would hope they start resting the main guys down the stretch so they don't wilt in the post season like the past few years. At this point, no one really cares about how they do in the regular season . . . it's how far they advance in the post season.

76ers' Embiid to undergo procedure, miss time
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid is expected to miss an extended period after he undergoes a procedure to address a meniscus injury in the coming days.
No timetable until after he has surgery.

I don't think they will know until after the surgery. From what I saw, it's possible he could return late in the season if the issue is on the less severe side. As it is, I believe Embiid is opting for a less invasive surgery to get him on the court quicker. He could have had season ending surgery that stood a better chance of correcting the problem longer term (but declined). IIRC, this is the same injury and decision that Robert Williams had last year with Boston. He opted for the clean up procedure to be able to return in the playoffs. He was able to do that, but he was very limited, couldn't play many minutes, and was not the same guy when he came back. All injuries and all players are different, but if Embiid comes back, I doubt he would be 100% this year.

the only silver lining is that this happened before the trade deadline. the ongoing debate all year was whether to push in their assets at the deadline for a player to help this year. on the one side, they were going to be in a much better position to do something in the summer, with the cap space and additional draft picks available to trade, and there really isn't a player on the market right now that will swing their championship equity much. on the other hand, when you have embiid playing at an mvp level, can you afford to punt on a season or do you have to try to wring everything out of it? now that embiid playing at an mvp level is essentially out of the mix, the calculus for whether to do something at the deadline has become much simpler. the worst thing would have been to trade all the assets for someone like Dejounte Murray and then Embiid has this happen a week later.

I kind of think they will keep an eye on the West standings to try and secure home court in the Finals as well.
Denver/LAC/OKC/Minnesota is going to be fun.

Those same sites have BOS +5 wins over OKC, +4.6 wins over LAC, and +5.5 over OKC for best overall record. The C's should end up with the best record, but they are at the stage where they either win the title or the season would be classified as a disappointment.

Personally, I think while not making it to the Finals would be a disappointment, losing in the Finals wouldn't necessarily be...depending on who they played and how it played out.
I think the Clippers or Nuggets are good enough to win a 7-game series over Boston. If Denver gets rolling like they did last year, I'm not sure Mazzulla is a good enough coach to get Boston to beat them. I also believe the Clippers are deeper and a healthy Kawhi/PG13 combo is better than Tatum/Brown. Losing to either of those teams in 6 or 7 games wouldn't devastate me as this is the Celtics first run together with this group.
Now if they got swept or lost in 5 games to those teams or if they lose to a newcomer like Minnesota or OKC, then I'd be really disappointed.

I wonder what the odds would be that each of the teams that Doc Rivers played or coached for that make the playoffs this year (ATL, NYK, LAC, ORL, BOS, PHI) all do better this postseason than the Bucks do. Obviously, 5 Eastern teams can't advance. Would have to be a total postseason wins wager.

I don't think it is regular season minutes that cause these guys to wilt. It is/was the intense 6 games against Atlanta, 7 games against PHI, and 7 games against Miami.
Whereas Denver coasted to the finals (4-1, 4-2, 4-0)

I think it all depends on who they have to give up on the current roster to bring in a depth piece. IMO, I would rather hold onto the Top 8 . . . JT, JB, KP, JH, DW and Horford, Hauser, and Pritchard. I happen to think that Queta and Kornet are solid pieces and would be fine if those 10 guys were left alone. If they needed to move either of those two (or any of the other younger players not mentioned) to get another bruiser that could make a couple shots, snag some tough boards, put a body on someone, and use some fouls on one of the other elite bigs in the playoffs, so be it. But I wouldn't want to disrupt the Top 8. Maybe that's just me.

About a year ago I briefly got interested in advanced defensive metrics. They all seemed flawed and didn't agree on much, but I was fascinated at how they were all in lockstep on Trae Young being historically bad defensively.

Olynyk would be tough from a salary matching perspective, but Drummond could fit within their Grant Williams TPA.

Yeah, people keep waiting for some sort of leap but the guy is 25 now and has some support around him now. I think maybe he's just not that good. Time to move on and start putting the "next Steph Curry" tag on Caitlin Clark, I guess.

I'm not sure what Drummond is at this point that is better than Kornet. Olynyk I get as he has a different game. Just looked up Delon Wright's info and he's really not having a good year. Playing a bench big role for Boston would probably be a bit simpler than whatever his role is in Washington, but his efficiency and shooting % this season is atrocious.
