2024-25 NBA Thread: Finals return after 3-month hiatus (137 Viewers)

This is a big hit to the “best two words in sports are ‘game seven’ crowd”

Most of us were watching NHL's Game 7 which was dynamite!

NHL playoffs >>>>> NBA.
The Avs were between periods when the Nuggets ended. After the game, they had a "viewing party" and kept some of the concessions open and put the game on the big screens. Bummer of a last 19.5 minutes of the period for Colorado fans.

Great night for Stars' fans everywhere!

Get out of here noob!

What blowout games are there today in the Association?
Hello, Mr. Malaise, and welcome to our fun little discussion thread about the National Basketball Association.

To answer your question, there are two contests slated for today. At 6pm EST the Cleveland Cavaliers will host the Indiana Pacers in game 1 of their Eastern Conference Semifinal series. Following that, at 8:30pm the Houston Rockets will host the Golden State Warriors in a deciding game 7 of their first round series.

While we hope both games will be competitive and entertaining for all fans, sometimes one team has a bad game and the scores can become more lopsided. Part of the excitement as a spectator lies in the wonder and anticipation of what could happen during a competitive contest and the longer an outcome is in doubt, the greater opportunity for one team to make a dramatic play and win a close game on the final play of the game.

Even if the final scores are not close, I would recommend tuning in to observe the competition among some of the best basketball players in the world today!

Blessings,
Jayrod

Spoken like a person who has never watched a playoff hockey game. You should try one of those - in fact, there is a Game 7 in the NHL today. Guarantee you that it won't be over by 1st intermission....

What is the NBA doing with these games today? Why are they overlapping? It is also Sunday, can we get a 3 pm eastern and 6:30 start?

In last night's hockey game, one team doubled the other teams score. Doubt we see that in any NBA playoff game

Rd 2 Series Predictions:

OKC v Den - OKC in 7
Minn vs GSW/Hou - 5 games vs either

Cle vs Ind - Cle in 5
Bos v NYK - Bos in 7

The Nuggets are good again.
OKC up next. Good luck
Should be a fun series.
I hope so. I think there is a real possibility that Denver just gets smoked though.
Nuggets split the season series 2-2. OKC should win the series but Denver is by far the toughest match for them in the west.

Wolves were 2-2 vs OKC, and I believe the Randle/Gobert/DD trio missed 3 of those games.

Regular series head to head rarely matters.

Keep up the disrespect and come June, as the Celtics raise the Larry O'Brien once again, I'm going to be insufferable (OK, more insufferable).

Boston's team last year cruised to 16-3 even without their 3rd best player for most of it. They were a better team than this year's Cleveland team fairly objectively and we'll see how much the running up the score in February helps OKC in the playoffs.

Don't you have a pick up game to go play in!?!

Hey, I was rooting for the Pistons and this is how you repay me?

Filtering out garbage time, OKC was +13.6, better than their overall +12.8. Boston was +12.3 last year, filtering out garbage time. The 73-9 Warriors were +11.6.

Much like the Nuggets of the year prior, it's hard to really evaluate the Celtics in terms of their place in history because of the terrible competition they faced.

Well, that's just like, your opinion, man.

Right, apologies to OKC fans for getting their hopes up for next round.

I think OKC might dog walk the Nuggets, I got tired just watching Denver last series. They do of course have Jokic though, so we’ll see.

I agree with you. I think Jokic needs to have an all time great series for the Nuggets to win, but I wouldn't bet against him.

I really hope we get a Pacers vs Pistons playoff series next season. Two young teams with fast paces and a history between them.
