2024-25 NBA Thread: Big weekend for Halliburtons (180 Viewers)

Joker is #1 for sure.

The Ringer had Jokic #2 overall in trade value, Doncic #4, Chet #20, Sabonis #27, Wagner #29, Markkanen #45, Sengun #46, Reaves #50, Hartenstein #55 (lol), Herro #56, Zubac #60, Porzingis #74, Kessler #79.
Hartenstein is half black. The more you know.

His mom is white and his dad is at most one-third black so I’d put him around one sixth black.
Have you seen a picture of all 3 together? His dad looks fully black to me

TWolves gunna need their bench guys to shoot better than 7-36, especially if Gobert is gunna look this unplayable.
Yeah... bench, a huge part of the Wolves' success, just didn't have it tonight.

Randle had the only decent night and it was really just a decent half. Credit to Julius for stepping up so far in these playoffs.

18 from Ant. i would have guessed like 11-12.

lots of standing around from everyone on their roster. loose with the ball. OKC defense was aggressive and pressuring and it made Minnesota look like they didn't care about being there at times.

looked like they ran out of hope and just ceded.

Man that SGA **** sucks to watch.
Just like Doncic and Harden before him.

I 100% blame the NBA not SGA for his antics. I think they need to really amp up the fines and technical fouls for flopping next year.
Add Brunson to the list too
There are plenty of bad actors - Trae Young, Embiid when he was still playing, Doncic, Brunson, Lebron, and Harden are probably the worst of the bunch. But other players like Jokic who didn't used to do that so much are really leaning into it because it's so effective and it's becoming such a problem. My problem is less with the worst guys and more with the fact that it is becoming commonplace for any player with ball skills.

Easiest way to fix is to treat it like getting too many technical fouls.

Have the league review after the game, so there is no need for the refs to worry about it, and every foul that results from a flop the player gets a small fine. After 10 to 15 of these fines you get suspended a game. Every third one after you reach the first limit results in another suspension.

I agree that intentional deception is a huge problem. To me that’s different than getting a defender in a bad position and playing for a foul. The latter is what Shai is really good at doing, and it gets lumped in with simulation (which he also does to be clear) but it’s not the same thing.

Retroactive fines and penalties seem to be the obvious answer. I think certain soccer leagues do it but I never really hear much about it.

first i agree with moe that there is a difference between getting a guy in the air on a fake and jumping into him on a shot to draw a foul versus the sga fall to his knees looking like there was a sniper up in the rafters when no one touched him but as i see it the problem is the later the just out and out acting like what we see in european soccer where they deserve and emmy and if they dont start really penalizing the floppers it is going to encourage everyone to flop and why wouldnt it you get defenders in foul trouble and they have to sit down and you score easy points over and over from the charity stripe this is probably the old boy in me talking but thats not basketball to me take that to the bank bromigos

SGA’s free throw rate is not even that high, it’s not even top 10 for MVP seasons this century. He gets a lot of hate because the Reddit/twitter hive mind is a bunch of moronic teenagers cosplaying as experts and because the Thunder are so aggressive on defense it feels inconsistent. I happen to think the Thunder do a great job of playing aggressive defense without fouling a ton but I get where that frustration comes from. Then you have Dort out there who is a true flopper (on defense) and it takes teams above the boiling point. I hope they trade Dort this offseason, I am done with him.

Dallas Stars game tonight - up against mighty Edmonton. I'll keep you guys updated once the Pacers go up by 20 in the 3rd and the cameras show sad Knicks' fans who paid 60 grand to sit next to Karen Kardashian and Fleek Swill.

Let me help you liven up things a little.

I’m sorry I don’t care who wins this series at all but he is absolutely flopping out there. I don’t even go on twitter that much anymore, I watched that game with my own two eyes.
