2024-25 NBA Thread: OKC - Memphis series moved to Quibi (12 Viewers)

What a crock.

Do you honestly believe there is some anti-Pistons sentiment that is disrespecting the young players on that team by not communicating with them?

That was his argument. It's conspiracy theory bullspit and once again a public and unfair fight against an opponent (the refs) who are NEVER allowed to protect or explain themselves. The lack of professionalism and disrespect shown to officials is the height of double standards and hypocrisy.

As a measly HS official, I say you, JB and every coach that thinks his team got "cheated" can go pound sand. I've been slandered by "friends" on Facebook after games and I will never respect someone's opinion of the job we do if they've never tried to do the job and then publicly attack us.

It's unprofessional chicken **** and I hope he gets suspended not just fined.

That and good luck all of you playing games without refs because we are a dying breed primarily for this public sentiment towards us. There are almost ZERO refs under the age of 30 where I'm at. Kids don't even get past a year or 2 anymore before they quit. We had 3 younger guys quit mid-season in my association.

You want to fix officiating, especially in the NBA, make the rules simpler, less subjective and drop the hammer down on the public displays of disrespect in-games.
While I agree with a lot of what you said, SGA is such a notorious flopper, and it makes it hard to defend NBA officiating when the constantly get fooled by the flopping of SGA and other players who pull that crap.
Have you seen what happens when they don't call an "obvious foul" as well?

When you don't have a great angle or just don't see it 100% (which is impossible live in real time), there is always guessing involved and  human error!!?!!1

With all due respect to refs this was one of the worst and most one sided officiated games I've ever seen. You don't need angles to see that. Brian Forte was eggregiously terrible.

Are you open to the idea that there can be egregiously bad officiating from time to time?

Example: game 6 of the WCF in 2002.

I understand what you are saying. But it seems like a small handful of folks can’t accept any criticism of officials, and frankly that just seems odd.

I hope Bikerstaff benches Tatum in the 2032 Olympics for some 9th grader we have never heard of!

When the worst person you know makes a great point…

Kendrick Perkins: "No one can slow down SGA. You ain't seen the breaking news? That new virus that's gone around? The crybaby virus? That's the effect of SGA. Once he leaves your arena, he has all your coaches whining, crying and complaining."

Absolutely they can. I've criticized an official in a game many times and even made specific criticisms in here.

But it's the double standard about "professionalism" that really piss me off. If a player can yell and stomp and cuss at an official why are the refs being criticized for how they communicate and being accused of being "disrespectful"?

Me and my players can act like petulant children, but how dare you not calmly and respectfully explain yourself to me.

Find it kind of shocking where you come down on this.

I have been coachinig 30 years and, quite frankly, NFHS officials are horrible. There are a handful of good ones, but I would estimate that 90% of them are garbage. Forcing a school's athletic department to pay these incompetent clowns $70/game is a slap in the face to everyone involved.

Please don't quote the trolls.

It makes my ignore list less effective.

Hey, I'm a FA, ref

So....I THINK I saw Blazers' GM Joe Cronin at the Tuscany in Las Vegas. I'm not positive and don't know why he was there (maybe the WAC tournament?) but it didn't stop me from walking up to this human to tell him I thought he was doing a great job and made the Blazers fun to watch again.

If that wasn't Joe Cronin, well......awkward!

Pretty cool story, but as a long long long time Blazer fan, no matter how well Joe does, he will always just be the guy who traded my favorite Blazer.

Well....he had to. Probably the hardest thing that man has done. It sucked saying goodbye to Dame Lillard but he had to leave. One day, he might come back. He loves Portland and much as Portland loves him.

These new Blazers are kind of fun though. I'm excited for the future and a year or so ago, it looked so bleak. But now? I think we're up to something.

Did he just robotically nod or something?

Trying to figure out how his reaction didn't confirm or deny who you thought he was.

Well, to be honest, I was on 4 different intoxicants so I'm not 100% but I think he said thank you and that was that.

I'd like to think I'm smart enough to know who he is but that might just be misplaced confidence.

He probably was thinking does he think I own a weed store?

Looks like Jokic and Murray will be out tonight vs. Golden State and Curry is questionable <balloondeflatingnoise>

The Warriors play Milwaukee tomorrow so they may hold him out if they think they can win regardless. Quentin Post is also questionable

Denver looking to rest their stars so they’re ready for the lakers on Wednesday.

Pacers are playing their asses off. Calm down, bench guys.

Also, Edwards needs to learn to pass when blatantly double-teamed in the final seconds.

Sixers were up 25 and now going to OT 131-131. Come on Houston!

Grimes with 40. Could this afterthought of a trade help next season?

I don't know how Houston got that W. Amazing comeback. The intentional free throw miss by Jabari and tip by Sengun to send it to OT was the chef's kiss.

And yeah, Grimes was on fire. Finally cooled off in OT but anything he threw up prior to that was going in. Fun game

Well, all credit to the Pacers' bench players.
They played with a ton of energy on both ends. Costant drives and cuts on offense, running around and deflecting everything on defense. Then Toppin goes nuts. Say la vee.
it is funny that when no names play the nba game like college kids it normally leads to good things i wonder why teams dont try that more often take that to the bank brohans

They played like the ****ing Little Giants last night. Toppin turned into Steph Curry, McConnell channeled his inner-dawg and played like every cliche'd white point guard should play since the dawn of time, and the entire team hustled like it was a game 7.

I'm still disappointed that the Wolves didn't gain ground for seeding, but man that was fun to watch from a "this is the highlight for these guys' careers and I got to see it" standpoint.

82 games of hustle generally breaks down bodies, especially for the older (30+ year old) vets.

Saving some of it for the playoffs is the prevailing thought nowadays, but with enough sprinkled in to still have that gear tried and ready before the playoffs start.
