2024-25 NBA Thread: Kevin Love fulfillls destiny by being traded to Utah (13 Viewers)

Shams: Nigel Hayes-Davis signs with Suns

☀️ 💣
Never heard of him.
Good college player at Wisconsin - 3 time All-Big10 but went undrafted in 2017. Played nine games with three teams his rookie year for a total of 122 minutes then ****ed off to Europe where he's piled up a bunch of championships and awards. Haven't seen the number on the contract yet but you could do worse than taking a shot on this guy.

I love how less than a week after the Finals we get the draft. Then, like a week later, we get free agency.
I'm ready!

Draft Harper, trade for Durant for about 50 cents on the dollar, and mix in a little Luke Kornet to do some dirty work. There probably won't be a lot of minutes for CP3, but I would not mind him being brought back to help with Harper's development, and maybe get a ring, right?

Starting lineup: Wemby, Durant, Sochan, Castle, Fox
Rotation: Harper, Champaignie, Kornet, Keldon Johnson, and maybe we see Blake Wesley still get some run (I still believe he can carve out a decent role in the NBA).

About mid-season we should start cooking once we've got a guard rotation such that we have 2 out of 3 of Fox, Castle, and Harper on the floor at all times. They should eat up weak benches, and eventually the entire league.
You can have Kornet when you pry him from Brad Stevens' (and my) cold dead hands.
Any new nickname suggestions?

He just wants to win titles. LeKornet?

I had to put the kids to bed because not all of us are 50.

Magic sign my top available free agent.

All but guaranteed Orlando will make a trade in the coming week. Goga? Judah?? Hard to say but will pencil in an A+ grade for the Magic to be safe.

Can I interest you in Shake Milton’s non-guaranteed contract for Goga?

I think Goga is a top 30 C in the league.

I'll give you Isaac for Milton and a milkshake

I thought he was the guy from Wisconsin but hadn’t seen any of the tweets mention it

Hawks are gonna be in the finals next year

They're my 2026 darkhorse but not sure if I'd even consider them a longshot with the state of the East and all the players they've been adding. Trae Young has brought them pretty far before so with a little talent behind him I don't see why not. ORL v. ATL 2026 ECF

The thread was all about trades of late. I simply opined that the Lakers might be better off to get what they can, while they can is all. IF they can. Nowhere did I mention about likability or some voting results or his history. It's about the Lakers not the feels. Do they really have another shot with him and the resources at hand? I think youth is being served now.
No, I don’t think the Lakers are true title contenders with him unless they pull some incredible offseason rabbits out of their hat. I guess best case would be signing Ayton and hoping he actually cares for once since he’d be in a contract year. Not sure that gets them a title though.
So basically you agree, more or less.

Then why was your reply about him making some second team voting contest?

Houston really has had a great off season but I'm a bit miffed by the Capela acquisition. I do like having him back as he started his career here and grew from a project into a legit Center. Maybe they're full believers in the 2 big lineup that had so much success last year and adding depth behind Steve Adams. The other part of me thinks there may be some trade package coming involving Cam Whitmore because I believe they're now over the cap or something. In Stone We Trust.

I think I have Lebron above MJ but honestly go back and forth.

Russell over Wilt is pretty clear though.

I never seen them play, but I have fallen into a rabbit hole watching and reading about Wilt and I think I would put him 3rd.
Most of the folks were comparing are in different eras from each other. These guys were in the same era and went head-to-head often. Wilt was a great scorer, but Russell is a better all-around player including on defense. He's the better teammate and a winner. Too young to have seen it, but that is my take.

Swarms: Nuggets Porter Jr and unprotected 2032 1st to Nets for Cam Johnson

Nuggets get some financial flexibility with the deal

Saw this on the screen last night and exclaimed. Glad the Nuggets are making aggressive moves. Would be a shame to not get more deep runs in Joker's prime.

Another center off the board. Mason Plumlee to Hornets 1-3.6

Suns and Hornets center swap carousel continues
Maybe we're working on a merger into the SunHornets? Would their combined roster even make the playoffs? At least it would solve Charlotte's hole at SG....

Really like what the Hawks have done this offseason. If they can stay healthy, they could be a really fun team to watch. On the Pistons—I feel like they could have done more. I think Levert is decent—but I would have loved to see them get a guy like Sexton. With the Beasley situation, I just think it would have been nice for them to have gotten a guy that can easily score 20 points a game on good efficiency from the 3 point line. He also would have offered them another ball handler. I would have much rather seen a guy like that on a relevant team, versus seeing a talented player go to a team that will intend to be bad.

I guess my question to Indiana is, how did you let Myles get away after being 1 game away??

Will be interested to see what happened there

In the unreliable world of X, I read that Sabonis would be coming to the Pacers in some way in the off-season.

According to someone pretty much anonymous

Was like a month ago

I didn't really express the take, but I felt like he was a bit of a weakness at times. Felt myself wondering if an upgrade there would have put them over the edge as I was watching game 7.

Myles turner to Milwaukee. Damien lillard being waived.

Wow, Dame Time sure was a disaster in Milwaukee. I haven't followed the situation but a little surprised they just cut him.
The Bucks will have $22,516,603 in dead money for the next five years from the waive-and-stretch.

This seems like one of those things that happens when Jimmy Haslem joins your ownership group.
he's going to tank this organization in a hurry

Pacers fans have had a love/hate relationship with Myles basically his entire career. After watching him through this playoff run, I'm more in the hate camp tbh. That said 4/$107 is cheap these days like @Juxtatarot just said. I think it's more about the 4 years than the $107 though. That combined with no Hali next year and the luxury tax looming, I can sort of see why they let him walk. But seeing him go to the division rival MIL is a kick in the nuts.

will any of these achillies guys be the same when they do finally come back or what kd came back ok but who else do we have for comparison take that to the bank brohans

I think Dame is cooked, but Haliburton and Tatum ate still young and can comeback and be all nba players. I think it is 2027/28 season before we see it.
