2024 Summer of Soccer - Euro's, Copa America, Olympics, WCQing (1 Viewer)

Terrible game, not helped by watching at a beer fest relaying the game through an internet stream that was hugely delayed to the point I needed to wait 2 minutes from knowing Kane had scored to seeing Kane score. Hopefully we're just getting the bad games out of the way early and have ended the Trent experiment for good

I am tapping into a U.S. feed for the Slovenia v. Serbia game. Amazing ending, totally soured by hearing Alexi Lalas. Can't believe he is still doing soccer on U.S. tv. Shoot me.

ETA: I am devastated I have to come back to that crap.
The videos bouncing around twitter showing Sturridge's frustration with Lalas is epic. He is all of us when it comes to Lalas.

So much talent being held back by Southgate. TAA in MF? cmon.

Southgate is English for Berhalter.

But, the players also were convincingly outworked by Denmark. It was shocking how many ball and 2nd balls that Denmark won in the midfield. And that included when Bellingham was playing deeper. Tactics are wrong - but player effort was disappointing today.

What a strange saga - sacked by Middlesbrough after getting them relegated. Coached England youth team for three years then was an emergency interim appointment in 2016 when Big Sam resigned in disgrace after one game during WC qualification. Kept the job ever since despite never winning anything. Best result was making the 2020 Euro final at Wembley in which he brought on Rashford and Sancho in the 120th minute and both unsurprisingly missed their penalties.

Oh for sure, I've said that often.

Hearing the post game talk about how Southgate can't sub and can't change tactics. Same thing that is often said about GGG. They are the same person.

I felt bad for Sancho and Rashford after that. Aside from a throw in taken by Rash, neither touched the ball prior to the PK.

Bowen in for Foden was telling.

England played like they deserved to win to start, and once up a goal stopped playing but still seemed to think they deserved to win. Such a weird approach. And barely deserved the point.

But that's England for you. They are Entitled. "It's coming home!"

change the last word "point" to "win" and you also described England's first game perfectly

Its amazing how Southgate has unified Chelsea and United fans, both wondering how he can leave Palmer and Mainoo on the bench.

Surprised yes, but I'm personally very happy if no Chelsea players get off the bench for their countries in these tournaments this summer. Spain should really give Cucurella a rest already. Enzo should absolutely not play for Argentina tonight.

Yeah sometimes I feel that way about United players. Was somewhat glad Rashford stayed home. Needs to get healthy and back to his best.

I can't believe Ecuador is even bringing Caicedo to the US. I've read all year how terrible he is, surely they have better options.
