I have two TB receivers but I also considered either DJ Moore or Odunza on the Bears. Maybe Moore is a bit too high and Odunza too low in the projections.

Maaaan, I like the firepower, but I just can't see myself going so shallow on depth. This literally needs to remain mostly injury free to work. Expected weekly starters in bold:
Yeah, these are the fun rosters to toy around with, but do you have the cajones to actually go with it?
You know what - I think I am gonna swing for the fences this year, like the old addage - you 100% don't make the shots you don't take!

IF I make it there the playoffs would be fun with this grouping, of course I could also get bounced week 8 given the very shallowness of the makeup and that seems to be my biggest bye....

I still tinkered a bit from the one I posted yesterday based on some FBG data research and I kinda like this 20 man rooster, evens out bye concerns a bit and a bit stronger with the limited depth:

QB - Jared Goff - DET/8 - $16
QB - Cam Ward - TEN/10 - $11
RB - Jonathan Taylor - IND/11 - $29
RB - Kyren Williams - LAR/8 - $27
RB - Chase Brown - CIN/10 - $26

RB - Tyrone Tracy Jr. - NYG/14 - $16
RB - Jacory Croskey-Merritt - WAS/12 - $6
WR - Jaxon Smith-Njigba - SEA/8 - $23
WR - Mike Evans - TB/9 - $18
WR - DJ Moore - CHI/5 - $16

WR - Ricky Pearsall - SF/14 - $11
WR - Keenan Allen - LAC/12 - $5
WR - Jahan Dotson - PHI/9 - $2
TE - Travis Kelce - KC/10 - $20
TE - Zach Ertz - WAS/12 - $9
TE - Dawson Knox - BUF/7 - $3
PK - Blake Grupe - NO/11 - $3
PK - Cairo Santos - CHI/5 - $3
TD - New Orleans Saints - NO/11 - $3
TD - Miami Dolphins - MIA/12 - $3

Total value: 250

Will it change - probably, but again I can't help myself....when does this thing lock again...put me out of my misery!
I also have Kelce on my list. When I tried to also have Chase Brown, who I like, I find that having both with the same bye week was a problem. Losing Kelce’s points for the bye is a big drop off. I saw it as a choice between the two.

Maybe Moore is a bit too high and Odunza too low in the projections.
I think I'm in the minority here, but I prefer Moore for $16 over Odunze for $15.
Moore is an alpha. Odunze is a jag.
ESPN has a beat reporter for the Bears. Before that she was a reporter for the Vikings. She still comes on the local radio stations sometimes. She thinks Odunza is going to be great this year.
You lost me at "she"

Last season I noticed some of the entry's had team names. Any of you techy guys know how they did that?
I know my entry showed up as TheWinz, but I didn't do anything on my end to make it happen.

I believe there was a feature to name our contest team a few years ago that has gone away but, for those of us that did that, it's somehow "sticking" from year to year.
Hopefully a proper FBG employee can explain better than my guess.

I just worry a little on bears players due to….

Caleb Williams

He has to be better or regardless of the talent of the WR’s stats will be mid.

Caleb wasn't great last year, and the top 3 WR's still ended up WR15 (Moore), WR34 (Allen), and WR48 (Odunze). This year I expect a more concentrated attack with Moore and Odunze, and Burden a distant 3rd. Moore is priced as the WR29, but hasn't finished that low since his rookie season in 2018. And he's had a different main QB every year.

I'm doing it again. Currently at $94 for RBs and $74 for WRs. It seems I can't stop myself.
I fully understand. We all know RB's are the worst value points per dollar, but when you look at a roster with $70 spent on RB's, you throw up in your mouth a little, huh?

I'm glad I vented. I have since created iteration 43 (lol) in which new spend is $83 RB and $86 WR which feels more sound.

I could shift even more but I like where I'm at (give it a couple hours and I'll change my mind). :ibtl:

There are some very compelling values in the $8-$13 range in RB....but taking one of these as RB4 when your WR4 is well below that price is a structural mistake. I've seen the light! :pickle:

I cant sign off of Tua as a QB3...you want a low risk situation there...think boring as heck like darnold or jones.

London/Ridley as WR1/WR2 is a little scary :D

You might be right. But I’m going for upside in my QBs.
Funny thing, I see Ridley as WR3 with Ricky the 2.

I've been doing this for years. I've never made the playoffs. Think the furthest I made it was week 13. I feel decent about this one (but I do every year). Probably cheapest I've ever been at WR. wish I had one more ~$10 talent.

Exactly correct. The nicknames are frozen in time. There is some chance of revival this year, but I don't want to guarantee anything.

When I build out my teams, I often find myself seeing value in particular teams. Current examples being TB, NO, and NE. I build a lineup I like, but when I look at my bye weeks, I tend to have concentrations where I have multiple players from the same team. Does anyone else find this to be the case? If so, do you try to pair down your exposure, or do you just go with the players that have value and let the chips fall where they may?

Very good question. In 2023, the top 5 WR's for the Giants were all priced so low (Hodgins for $6, Slayton & Robinson for $5, and Hyatt & Campbell for $4), you could've rostered them all for the price of the average WR14 ($25). They did end up being the top 5 WR's for the Giants, but as a group, they weren't worth it. Slayton and Robinson for $10 would've been decent values though, but the rest just didn't have strong enough usable games. I think it's fine to roster multiple players from the same team as long as they are each worth it individually, and you don't spend too much in one position on the same bye week.

Hello everyone. The Puppies are back and 'barking'. . .

I've been traveling, and have been otherwise tied up with some other stuff the last month or so, and I think this is the first time I've popped into this forum this season.

I'm sure I've missed some good stuff in here.

Looking forward to another year of the Subscriber contest, and everything that goes with it.

Question: Did Joe renew the $100 bonus deal again this year for anyone who posts a lineup early and then makes the playoffs? Just curious....

Welcome back! Just so you know, you're over two weeks and at least 180 iterations behind the pack... lost of catching up to do.

Also, Yes, the $100 bonus is a go.

I don't think @Joe Bryant has made his bonus offer official yet?

I think this has been the quietest subscriber contest thread in years. Is everyone busy changing your teams?

I'll probably have as many roster iterations as anyone else as we prepare for the new season, but they are all in a spreadsheet and I don't usually post all the preliminary versions.

There are a lot of moving parts during training camp, not to mention injuries, possible trades, players cut and getting signed to a team with a different bye week, and all sorts of crazy stuff like that, which usually results in needing to make more changes even if you thought you were done.

What's the fun in saving all your iterations to yourself? Post those bad boys!

And why is your text bigger than mine? :-)

I don’t post them all because I don’t want to embarrass myself 😆

On the text size, it always looks too small on my screen so I set it to size 15 on most posts.

I think this has been the quietest subscriber contest thread in years. Is everyone busy changing your teams?
Everyone is waiting to see if Joe will offer his extra bonus for posting and not tinkering, then this thread will blow up with submissions!

I know we've thrown even more money at this in the past beyond the tens of thousands I put into the prize pool.

But I know you folks are more about the smack talk and pride.

This year let's switch things up from money and do something more fun with avatar badges. Let @Memphis Foundry and I work on something fun there.

I can see doing the same format, people who post their rosters by ________ are eligible and if you finish at certain level, you get something on your avatar for bragging rights.

Bye weeks don't scare you during iterations. We'll see about the final submission.
"Everyone wants to be a gangster, until its time to do real gangster ish, like loading up on week 14 byes."
I think that's how the quote goes.

Yeah, I was clicking at the folks I liked, only to see 60% of my budget was spent on 3 of the latest 4 bye weeks. Oh well, it was fun posting it, but I don't have the cajones to run with it.

Subscriber Contest finalist badge? I want one!

If you want me to keep track of it again for you, count me in.

Thanks Buddy. Let me work on that Monday.

I can see doing the same format, people who post their rosters by ________ are eligible and if you finish at certain level, you get something on your avatar for bragging rights.
Oh my. Love this!
Can we retroactively get me a “SharkPool Home League Champ” badge? :)
