2025 Miami Dolphins - Week 2; Time to burn it down? (34 Viewers)

Miami cut Elijah Higgins, 5 teams put a claim in for him off waivers, wow! (no other player had more than 2 claims)

That seems like another short sighted move by Coach MM and Grier
9-9 in 2022...McDaniel takes over a team that was 19-15 before he arrived
9-8 in 2021
10-7 in 2020

The bar hasn't moved that much despite a lot of moves
Who are you cutting to keep him? I found it shocking as well but if Hill just looked better and you were stuck keeping 5 RB's because you knew Wilson was going on IR what else do you do? I'm sure they hoped to sneak him to the practice squad and then maybe activate him at some point.

Has White Mike wrapped up the QB2 spot or is it still up in the air? I have both White and Thompson to back up Tua in a superflex but would like to drop one of them.

I don't think it's been announced by the team. Most fans, including myself, think Thompson did better. White cleared concussion protocol early in the week from a hit in game 2. It should be announced on Monday. Signing White was a mistake IMO, based on what I've seen.

This is spot on from Barry Jackson. Most fans think Skylar is better than White, offers scrambling, and White hasn't shown much in camp or limited preseason.

>>No team in the history of life has ever signed a quarterback to guaranteed $$ in first two hours of free agency with the intent of making him their No. 3. It likely would have taken White being abducted by aliens and Skylar to be nearly perfect for this to play out differently.<<

As a reminder for all MMcD rookie mistakes, red flag challenge issues, play call timing, and abandoning the run… he still brought the team to the playoffs with five games with backup QBs

He's said he addressed the issues mentioned… one person dedicated to watching the tv feed for replay. Etc… let’s hope so, since this season is tougher on paper.
Let’s also hope Tua‘s bjj helps him stay healthy through the season…

I’m cautiously optimistic they both made improvements… if so it could be a fun season, last year certainly was

White is the backup.

Kendall Lamm and Austin Jackson are NOT going to be able to handle Bosa and Mack. I hate to say it before a ball has even been snapped, but this is a potential disaster.

Armstead is a great player but he cannot stay on the field and we know this and did nothing to sure up the depth aside from signing a former draft bust in Wynn, who we will probably need to play guard since our own draft bust at guard never developed.

I think aside from Tua and maybe Hill, Armstead is the player we cannot afford to be without, and I bet we end up without him more than with him this year.

Really bad start. I realize we havent kicked off yet, but after so many seasons of high hopes being washed away, I am not gonna let them hurt me anymore. I am accepting that we are going to get embarrassed on Sunday. I just hope number 1 comes out of it alive.

It'll be hard for Lamm to be as incompetent as Greg Little was last year, Lamm was good in preseason.

TA wasn't participating so at least it wasn't a last minute deal and they game planned around Lamm.

I respect your POV, welcome your POV, yes I'm pretty hard on Coach MM, mostly because of my hate for Stephen Ross, total embarrassment and his entire time owning the team has been a nightmare. From all of the off field issues, Richie Incognito, Draft picks squandered and lost, he should have been forced to sell the team.

Armstead being OUT is going to wreck havoc on things.
Miami better have an arsenal of quick passes today, I wouldn't expect Tua to have time to set up for deep passes.

Big Mike McDaniel interview right now on ESPN
25 year old Houston assistant under Kubiak 2008
He used to drink a lot, fascinating and hits home for me

Kubiak FIRED McDaniel, amazing story and I feel connected a little more with Coach Mike
Just Do it today, a victory on the road in California Week 1 would propel them the next couple weeks and change the early story arc

Jeff Darlington is doing the interview, pretty strong, highly recommend you watch it or find it.
I might have a slightly different view of him
Go Phins Go!

NFL.com's Tom Pelissero reported, "I just mentioned on @NFLGameDay: #Dolphins rookie RB De’Von Achane is expected to be inactive today against the #Chargers.

"The third-round pick from Texas A&M missed time in camp with a shoulder injury and has some rust. Raheem Mostert and Salvon Ahmed will carry the load."

I understand your hatred of Ross

However I don't understand that you can't separate Ross from MMcD

I spoke about this in here around when he was hired ... spoke specifically to him being more relatable having hit rock bottom.

I do see his flaws he had as a rookie HC I trust his word that he's worked on fixing them ... penalties included

Because you all give him a free pass and he didn't do all that much in terms of wins and losses...and you all should have been super critical of him ****ting in his headset at mid field of the Playoffs, MoP still having a hard time digesting that up in Buffalo last year,

-That said, let's watch some game tape of Miami-Buffalo up in Orchard Park in recent years, the fact they got as close as they did with a rookie back up QB is a miracle

I'm bitter, lifelong Miami fan and I would like to believe but when you see Herbert vs the guy we drafted right in front of him....I question the Front Office top to bottom
And that includes hiring coaches that were not high on the list.

Hope for the best today, always like going back and forth with you, I probably have the short straw in this one, all good

I don't have the time to write a thesis on Ross and his seemingly limitless screwups ... hate on Ross lord knows he's given us enough reasons.
Be critical of MMcD, expect more and better from him.

Separating the two men is my only point.

One guy was 28 of 45 for 466 yards, 3 TD’s an INT and led his team on a game winning drive in the closing minutes. The other was 23 of 33 for 228 yards and a TD and took an intentional grounding that cost his team 10 yards and 10 seconds and 2 sacks in his teams final chance possession. Time will tell if Tua can stay healthy long enough to prove better then Herbert but on this day head to head Tua gets bragging rights.

Dolphins looked incredible game didn't disappoint.
Herbert , on the other hand...can this guy ever win a big game when needed? he just flat-out sux. Kellen Moore got fired in Dallas for a reason he's terrible. oh wait, Williams got hurt again. If I had to guess, I don't see Herbert staying on as LAC's starting QB beyond this year I'll be they move on from him. and from that terrible coaching staff as well.

Have to say this is weird feeling like we are waiting for the other shoe to drop....been a long time since I've had "confidence" we were going to be good week in and week out. I'm getting there and it's exciting.

He earned it
-in particular I liked how he said they will "have to win a game 10-3", "we got each other's back", that was a good post game reaction.

I haven't started checking off wins on the schedule in a very long time.
Still just want to try and take it 1 game at a time.
Philly might have started off hot vs the Patriots but they were lucky to walk out with a win.
I have a feeling Miami should they prevail will be in a tighter game than we think. Doubt Hill will get his 150 yds vs BB next week but should be a fun game
The Pats don't scare me on offense except they will be very committed to the running game and long drives., he's going to see the tape of us being run on vs LAC
The Pats defense is always worth respecting and I don't put it past them to limit parts of our offense

But on paper Miami should blow their doors off, but the game will end up being closer than some think.
Now when we play Denver the week after, that should be domination.

I have learned not to look ahead with our Dolphins.

Just looking towards SNF now. We better get the run defense in order....and quick. You can’t be a Super Bowl contender getting gashed for 200 yards on the ground.

Yesterday was a great day for our offense. Our defense needs to improve a ton. Period.

On to to week 2.

Still shocked at how well the Oline played - hopefully they keep it up.

On the other hand, other than the last 2 possessions by the Chargers the Defense was horrible. Their RB’s gashing us for 6-7 yards per carry. That needs to improve quickly.

Tua made some beautiful throws.

That to me is the biggest storyline for us coming outta week 1.

Our OL played outstanding.

I don't have any confidence in this team, but you have to enjoy it while you can. A healthy Miami offense is nearly unstoppable.
