Curious as well.Is this contest being continued this year?![]()
In, although I'm guessing my interest will wane over the course of the season (ETA: not because of any flaw in the contest, just that I doubt I'll be able to muster the energy to answer 150+ questions every week).
Amen.If the contest is over then that is the decision and I am fine with it.
What bothers me is that we can't even get an answer one way or another. Everyone that has posted here is a subscriber and the lack of a response is total BS. It would take 2 minutes for Doug or someone else to post in here and let us know what is going on.
I am not one to complain usually but this is ridiculous. Obviously no one at FBG gives a #### about this thread or the subscribers that have posted here looking for an answer.

Unfortunately, the participation is so small that it probably doesn't justify the prize pool they have. There are probably less than 100 people who go out of their way to participate every week, and a few who did it now and then.It would be absolutely shocking to me for them to discontinue this contest. They already have the framework set up from past years and the prize pool is relatively small compared to their subscriber contest.
Here's to hoping they were just having too much fun in Vegas this past weekend and haven't forgotten about it.
I think you're missing the whole point of the WoC. It wasn't just a contest to draw people to the site, it was a way for them to generate free rankings based on thousands of fantasy football managers. Hence it being called "wisdom of the crowds"Unfortunately, the participation is so small that it probably doesn't justify the prize pool they have. Exactly. It was basically low-cost solid data collection. And I would put it up against any rankings out there.Warrior said:I think you're missing the whole point of the WoC. Subscribers could leverage the collective knowledge of FBG members in addition to the experts. The prizes were just extra incentive to put forth our time and efforts to generate these rankings.
Unfortunately, customer service for FBG subscribers is just a cricket noise in the background these days. Nobody even gets notified about whether or not the contest will be back. Par for the course around here recently.
Yeah... except it wasn't "thousands of fantasy football managers." That's exactly what apalmer pointed out:Warrior said:I think you're missing the whole point of the WoC.... it was a way for them to generate free rankings based on thousands of fantasy football managers.
I don't know one way or the other, but it wouldn't totally surprise me if FBG did a CBA and decided that the WoC contest was a failed experiment. Only a tiny subset of their subscriber base was participating in it.Unfortunately, the participation is so small that it probably doesn't justify the prize pool they have. It's also something that regular fantasy sites like CBS have incorporated the idea into their programs as well. They have a "Who Do I Start" tab and there's a place where you can vote between match-ups. Given the sheer number of fantasy leagues that CBS runsthey get a lot more data than FBG did and in a much easier fashion.Ignoratio Elenchi said:Yeah... except it wasn't "thousands of fantasy football managers." Yes!!This starts in week two. Look for it on Wednesday, I think.
Woo-Hoo! Glad my pessimism was wrong! This starts in week two. Look for it on Wednesday, I think.
Sorry for not responding sooner.
Looking but not finding. This starts in week two. Look for it on Wednesday, I think.
Looks like the rules in the first post of this thread have been updated for this year. Will run from week 2 through 16 with weeks 3 through 16 only counting toward overall standings.apalmer said:Looking but not finding. This starts in week two. Look for it on Wednesday, I think.

Also cut the weekly prize money in halfLooks like the rules in the first post of this thread have been updated for this year. Also, looks like they've eliminated the top 12 playing in a league for the prizes and instead have opted to go with a straight bonus for your finish:
The top 12 scorers will also win these bonuses:
1st: $250
2nd: $150
3rd: $100
4th-6th: FBG 3-year subscription
7th-12th: FBG 1-year subscription
Yuck. The league entry was easily the most fun aspect and biggest draw.Looks like the rules in the first post of this thread have been updated for this year.
