Benson Is Terrible (1 Viewer)

Is there any starting RBs in the league that look worse than this bum? The Bears finally learned to admit their mistake with Grossman, I wouldn't be surprised if this bum is about done being the starting RB in Chicago. Over/Under I'll go with 1 more week of craptastic play from this bum. :goodposting:

I'm not even going to pretend Benson is a decent RB. He obviously hasn't proven anything. That being said, when he had his 2 good carries in the 2nd half, he actually looked like he was getting some confidence running the ball. Then when he has a couple of decent runs, what does the genius Ron Turner do, pass plays up the ####.

That O-Line is brutal. Payton would have issue running the ball behind that line. He gets hit before reaching the line of scrimmage ALOT. How many RBs are going to put up numbers with a line like that?

What is Turner thinking??? 52 pass attempts and don't tell me it was because they were behind. They were up 13-3 going into the 4th. You have 4 starting D players out for the game, wouldn't you think to play ball control on offense?? As bad as Benson has shown, this team is not a Passing team. The QB and WRs added together don't equal the talent of Benson (I know, not saying much there). Run the ####### ball 50 times a game and let the D do its work!!!!!!!

I know I am doomed with Benson this year, but I'm stuck with him unless Dunn or LT go down with an injury. I hope the Bears trade him or fix their line FAST. This guy will have success in the NFL.

I hope he goes down faster than a virgin on prom night. That way I can just cut him already. I am tired of messing with this no talent fool. Which brings me to a great question though. Why is Lovie Smith calling 52 passing plays when they are up in the game?

OK, I am done defending Benson. Add me to the list of folks who think he sucks at a level of suckiness that has never before been sucked.

Ditto.

Benson definitely doesnt look too good so far, but two things you still cant ignore.

1 The o-line has been AWFUL

2 Ron Turner has been AWFUL

He's definitely been marginal at best. That entire team is a disaster. O-line, QB play, playcalling, defense. Yuck. My optimism on Benson for this year (which is admittedly waning) was based on the fact they would be run heavy behind a quality O-line and have a defense that could shut down the other team. NONE of those things has been true.

Come on quit with the excuses about the OL. I have heard it all. This guys is a bust. A bum. He takes off plays and he looks lazy. Jerry Angelo cannot draft offensive players. END OF STORY. The Bears are going back to the dark ages. Time to put Orton in there to see if any of the 2005 draft picks are worth a damn on the NFL level. Jerry- you have to answer the bell on this one pal! The biggest age old question ever in the NFL is simple- Will the Chicago Bears EVER find a franchise QB? Benson- Curtis Ennis with dread locks!

anybody know who would replace Benson if he were to get benched/injured? I saw that Benson got benched for a period of time Sunday and was replaced by Garrett Wolfe, not Adrian Peterson.

:blackdot: I had the same thoughts going into the season, but the entire team has fallen apart, mainly due to injuries on the o-line & whole defense.

yep. benson looks horrible, but so does the o-line...and ron turner is an idiot. benson and tom jones both averaged > 4 yds per carry last year. obviously something has changed in 2007.

In watching the game yesterday I was feeling sick about him in the first half and he looked like all the above have stated. But in the 2nd have he looked like a legitimate RB, running hard and finding a hole. I'm sure it's wishful thinking but maybe Lovie lit a fire in him at halftime and will continue to do so and get some production out of him.

Peterson is nursing a calf injury, Wolfe is way too small to be an every down back. If there is a change it would be to Peterson.

They showed a ton of patience with Grossman, I dont think they bench Benson either. Benson was mediocre when they drafted him and has devolved into a horrible player, but I think they stick with him all year.Da Bears are toast.

I would think that CHI would phase in a bigger mix of Peterson before sitting Benson completely or do you think CHI would be anti-RBBC?

I'm on the Benson sucks bandwagon. What are people getting in trades for him? Can they trade him at all? I wish I got rid of him after the KC game. Yeesh!

I was just offered Hines Ward and Rhodes for Benson. (I also own Jordan, so this tempts me)

If I did not already have Roth, Parker, Miller and Holmes on my team I might consider this.

I am thinking of countering with Benson and Lee Evans for Andre Johnson and Rhodes. I wish I knew that Johnson would be coming back in the next couple of weeks. That Pitt Bye week scares the hell out of me.

Either way, Ward and Rhodes is the offer. Does not seem like a great offer, but it does show Benson is worth something to someone.

A currently injured WR and a RB coming back from suspension and joining one of the league's top producers in the backfield? I'd hold.

Oh, I am not taking the offer. I just thought I would let you all know it was on the table.Like I say, I have considered countering with Andre Johnson and Rhodes for Benson (and possibly Evans) but I am undecided on that one yet. This was just to show that someone thinks Benson has a little value. No matter how small and pathetic that value is.

As a homer this thread is annoying. The team sucks not just Benson. Watch the games and you can see the O-line could not block anyone and there is no room to run. I am sick of this garbage of people saying Peterson should be the starter it is not going to happen. It took us forever to bench Grossman and he looked worse than Cade McNown. I expect Benson to produce down the stretch but not probably where most of you drafted him.

fyi Peterson is a change of pace back and Garret Wolfe is a midget.

best post of the entire thread . . .

I'm desperate for a RB in one of my leagues (Maroney is killing me) and I offered the Benson owner Michael Turner for him, since that owner also owns LT2. He was insulted by my offer.

that's pretty insulting in a redraft. why would you trade a starter for a backup, at any position?

who would trade a starter for a backup?that guy may never trade with you again. ridiculous offer.

:goodposting: I haven't seen anyone say Chicago's offensive woes are soley because of Benson, and I've seen even fewer say Benson should be benched for Peterson or Wolfe. However, the fact that some maintain it's all the offensive line's fault is merely a cop out. Last year, it was because he wasn't given the opportunity to be the full-time starter. This year, it's the offensive line's fault. Is anything ever Benson's fault? If you're going to take that approach, you could blame anyone's bad performance on another part of the team, just so you don't have to admit you were wrong. Benson is as much to blame as the offensive line.

Benson hasn't played well but the offensive line has been much worse.

definitely in my favor - i was trying to play up Turner's value since the guy owned LT. If/when Benson loses the job, Turner becomes more valuable.

true, but Benson barely fits the definition of "starter".
Turner fits no definition of "starter".That seems like an absurd offer to me no matter how pathetic Benson is at the moment.

Benson is getting at least 20 carries a game. Would make no sense to trade him for Turner.

I think i've been the most adamant about Benson sucking eggs. Props to me.
I may come in a close second. Thought he stunk the first time I watched him play in a Bears uniform. Monster bust for Da Bears.

drum roll........CEDRIC BENSON

Please add any more busts to this list if I missed someone.

I'm still starting him this week over LenDale White. Lovie said he is going to feed him the ball. Maybe that's what Benson needs (and some blocking) to succeed. A lot of workhorse type backs get better as the game goes on. They get into a groove. I guess we will see. As far as the Benson Bashing goes, it's not like Benson was not highly regarded by every NFL team coming out of college. If the Bears didn't take him at #4 he would have gone soon after. He was projected to go in the top 10. I still think he is better that Cadillac, who's career might be over. When the Bears took him I was very happy. I may be stupid, but I'm still holding out some hope that he turns into a decent back. Yes, I own him and I am a DieHard Bears fan. :bs:

I know it is Green Bay and the outlook is bleak but this is the last week Benson gets the start. If he does not produce a solid YPC or a TD he his hitting the bench for the likes of Warrick Dunn.

F'ing FINALLY....

I couldn't give him away this past week, and I was forced to play him with A-Pete on a bye.

Hopefully this gets him some confidence.

22 carries 50 yards.....TERRIBLE.

Zero vision, zero explosiveness, zero heart.

It looks like he isn't even trying to break a tackle.

I hate this guy.

I don't get it, he looked really good on his first 9 or so carries, then he's gone  . Just looks hesitant when he receives the hand-off.
