Benson Is Terrible (2 Viewers)

The bottom line is outside of the true elite RB's, no RB would put up numbers behind the Bears aging offensive line. The QB play also kills the production. Benson may blow, but he was doomed from the start. Angelo should have seen this coming...
Absolutely. Absolutely mind-boggling how he has completely ignored getting younger and better on that o-line, over the last 3-4 yrs. That has to be priority #1 this offseason....HAS TO BE

AFTER he gets a real RB.

Cedric Benson leads NFL running backs in dropped passes.Pretty amazing considering Adrian Peterson sees the bulk of passes to running backs in Chicago. Benson also admitted that he blocked the wrong guy on a Raiders' blitz, leading to Brian Griese's shoulder injury. The Chicago Tribune also notes that he added "bad weight" during the off-season, possibly explaining his lack of burst. Finally, he had a four-yard rush taken off his Week 10 line, meaning his average YPC is declining even during the week. What can't this guy do?
:porked:
How is this gonna to be spun to be the o-line's fault?

Ahh, the fantasy geeks way of building a team. Get the skill guys first, then get the guys who do the dirty work so the skill guys look good.Hopefully Angelo will be smarter than you.

So do I, but I'm not the one that drafted Benson.

I've been discussing this all season with my dad (we dutifully camp out in a sportsbar for every depressing, embarrassing game) and there are so many needs that we need the equivalent of three drafts to meet them all. Translation: do not expect this team to get better any time soon. It will likely be another 3-4 years before we sniff the post-season again. We desperately need help on the o-line, and the only immediate help in that area typcially goes between pick 1 and pick 12 of the first round, and if it's someone really special, we already have no shot. At the same time, this team desperately, DESPERATELY needs a running back, as Cedric really should be cut after this season (I'm sorry, you can talk about the o-line all year long, but if you can't run against the Raiders, you can not run in the NFL end of story). In addition to that, you have no starting QB for next year, unless you acquire some aging sack o crap through free agency. And that will only a be a Kordell Stewart type band-aid at best. Beyond that, it's pretty obvious that Vasher will be injured most of his career, so there's another need, and we need to cut Dvoracek since he'll never see the field, so we need more bodies up front as well. And if you haven't noticed, our safeties get abused on the regular. So to be any better than this year, we need at least two blue-chip o-lineman, some big bodies in the defensive middle, a blue-chip safety, probably another corner for depth, a QB that will be ready to start in three games, and a running back that can start immediately.

Folks, the Bears are completely screwed for the next four years. Forget last year: the bad old days are back, and they ain't leaving any time soon.

That is the positive spirit. While we are talking about backs...and the Bears are going for back to back wins this week...At least Urlachers back is healthy and Tank Johnson is back :)

Its ugly right now, but this is just too gloomy. We need a little more patience with Dvoracek and especially Vasher. Now if you want to give that treatment to a Mike Brown, I cant argue with that. And thats nonsense about not being able to get a good o-lineman to step right in and play only between picks 1-12. Couldnt even begin to list all the mid-round guys that play productively as rookies.

They can change the title. It don't change the FACT of the matter.Benson Blows.
Are you kidding me? I started this topic in week 2 (9 weeks ago) and it's been very popular (44 pages of posts to date) why in gods name would the footballguys admin change the topic title now? What kind of world are we living in when a chat forum topic that has "Blows" in the title gets censored? The fact is Benson Blows, and there is NOTHING WRONG WITH THE WORD BLOWS!!! THE ONLY PERSON WHO MAY BE INSULTED BY THIS TOPIC IS CEDRIC BENSON HIMSELF AND I'M SURE HE IS NOT A MEMEBER!!!! AND IF HE IS WHO CARES?? SOME THINGS WILL INSULT SOME PEOPLE AND THAT'S OK!! This makes me sick! I'm literally getting sick right now!!Footballguys you should be ashamed of yourselves!!!!!

Joe's basement, Joe's rules. :hophead:Nobody is making you post here.

I think if anybody's comparing third year player Cedric Benson to old and fading fast Eddie George is a pretty strong indictment of how much Benson sucks.

Kind of ironic how GM Jerry Angelo supports HIS 4th overall draft pick from '05, yet he threw Anthony Thomas under the bus several years ago when he was actually performing better. Oh ya... that was a "Mark Hatley" draft pick. ;)

Benson blows and most of Chicago hates the guy for his on (and off) the field nonsense.

No homerism here - the numbers speak volumes.

TD5150,by the way, how did your team end up?
I have Benson in no leagues......BUT.......I am a huge Bears fan and he is the #1 (among many) reasons why the Bears BLOW this season. The real reason why I'm pissed that the topic title was adjusted is because our country is becoming a bunch of liberal pansies!!! And this problem just seems to be growing every day.....all the way to FF chat forums! NOBODY should be offended by the word "Blows", and if you are you need to take a hard look at yourself. This makes me sick because you see it every where, if one person complains about something 50 people jump to make sure that one person doesn't stay offended. Everybody has an opinion and it's OK if your opinion offends people, In 99% of the cases there should be no "third party" to censor that opinion, and this is definitely one of those cases.Oh well, I'll get off my soapbox now, thanks for listening! Now back to discussing Cedric Benson......He BLOWS, BLOWS, BLOWS and will always BLOW! :X :X :X

Not a big fan of this place, eh?

Benson still blows... glad I traded this bum, even though it didn't end up to be much for this season.

Why the Bears haven't turned to AP or Wolfe yet is beyond me. How anyone supports this guy is way way beyond me. If you want to compare him to Ricky at least Ricky showed some signs by now.
