I've been discussing this all season with my dad (we dutifully camp out in a sportsbar for every depressing, embarrassing game) and there are so many needs that we need the equivalent of three drafts to meet them all. Translation: do not expect this team to get better any time soon. It will likely be another 3-4 years before we sniff the post-season again. We desperately need help on the o-line, and the only immediate help in that area typcially goes between pick 1 and pick 12 of the first round, and if it's someone really special, we already have no shot. At the same time, this team desperately, DESPERATELY needs a running back, as Cedric really should be cut after this season (I'm sorry, you can talk about the o-line all year long, but if you can't run against the Raiders, you can not run in the NFL end of story). In addition to that, you have no starting QB for next year, unless you acquire some aging sack o crap through free agency. And that will only a be a Kordell Stewart type band-aid at best. Beyond that, it's pretty obvious that Vasher will be injured most of his career, so there's another need, and we need to cut Dvoracek since he'll never see the field, so we need more bodies up front as well. And if you haven't noticed, our safeties get abused on the regular. So to be any better than this year, we need at least two blue-chip o-lineman, some big bodies in the defensive middle, a blue-chip safety, probably another corner for depth, a QB that will be ready to start in three games, and a running back that can start immediately.
Folks, the Bears are completely screwed for the next four years. Forget last year: the bad old days are back, and they ain't leaving any time soon.
