I kind of wish I hadn't known most of these Hold Steady songs for so long because Thrashing Thru The Passion is pretty easily the best Hold Steady album since Stay Positive IMO.

RR of interest this week (no friday meeting, so diving right in)... and it looks like a winner! lots of new full albums and lots of bands I like... thank you RR!
IDLES- colossus remixed by tricky!
death cab for cutie (their last single turned my crank- more rhythm to it than normal)
stereolab (they've been rereleasing stuff, but this appears to be a single... not sure)
amason (more swedish easy listening... they did that one single Algen that was one of my favorite tunes, but it had a beat- the rest is ez as a sunday maorning)

that IDLES remix was great... until it cut off at the coda. dunno if that was intentional or part of a larger continous tricky remix that messed up where to put the song breaks for spotify... either way, boo.
eta: didn't mention GRMLN has a new one. considering how prolific they (he?) are, it's genuinely impressive how consistently good the tunes are. I can't say that any of them elevate to best of year stuff for me- but I can't remember hearing a tune and not enjoying it. this one is there.
ok... that stereolab is re-issue. I never remember the names of most of the tunes, but I definitely recognize it. I don't get re-releasing and old tune as a single. go ahead and re-release the album, but why bother with singles at this point?

I liked it as I mentioned (I also like tricky a lot), but dammit- just as the song normally gets into overdrive, the remix ends.Yeah, but how often do they drop 15 albums per year?

eta: the crescendo of the original, and that kick in the face coda, is what makes it great. the remix- while kinda cool- misses both marks entirely.
the thee oh sees tune was solid, and the king gizzard was legitimately a face stabber... in a good way.Face Stabber is 80 minutes long
huh... dizzee rascal guesting on some single with ocean wisdom (?) a guy that raps super fast apparently.

I think... not sure... but I've had less of these lately- I've been using that "hide this song" feature and telling spotify that "I don't like this song" and maybe the algorithm has figured it out? much less katy perry, demi lovato, etc. haven't had taylor swift in ages. or maybe I've been telling it "I dont like the artist"...She was there again this week!!

same thing happened this week as last- even though I knew it was coming, I was in work mode with the RR in the background... I find myself nodding off- sure enough, ####### sigur ros sleep music.
