trash and recycling bins get picked up on Monday. for the last 15 years. always Monday.

the way my wife and (now kids) will wait until i put the bins out on the curb, then moan & groan about how they now have to walk out of the house, to the street, to throw something in the recycling or trash that has been in their room, on a table, wherever... for days sometimes.... is one of those small things that slowly drives a person insane, which other people think is petty & stupid to be cranky about.... until it happens to them. every week. for 15 years.

i could put them out at 7 AM on Sunday morning and the first thing they'd say on waking up is "why do i have to walk to the curb to throw out my trash? why didn't you just leave the bins in the garage?" or, those bins could go out as the collection truck is rounding the corner to our street on Monday morning and they'd moan that i put the bins out too soon and now they have to do.. so.. much... walking to throw something out.

i'm about to turn the trash inside out in the living room and make them walk each piece of trash to the street individually.
Time for one of these kids to learn self-reliance and inherit this ancient fatherly practice.
If they're old enough to leave their trash around then their old enough to take those cans down

What I would do is the first time they take the trash cans down to the curb, you want to have at least one empty beer can and ask them to hold the lid up when they get down there and then start shooting 3s, you've got to show these children who's in charge.

-You can cut this back to what suits you but I'm opening the playbook for you

Loud gas station pump video ads. Especially when the stupid pump doesn't have a hold open clip so I have to stand there squeezing the pump right in front of the blaring ads instead of at least being able to take a few steps away. No, I had to listen to Maria Menounos lecture me to only eat in-season fruits and vegetables while pumping my gas in the cold of January in Upstate NY. And of course, the windshield wash buckets were all empty.
This while coming home from a weekend in NJ... I know people make fun of NJ gas stations, but sitting in my warm, quiet car while someone else pumped my gas (for $.40 cheaper) was much preferable to this.
HI!, Welcome to Exxon-Mobil, did you know that we sell refreshments inside the store?
Have you registered yet to save a nickel every time you fill up at the expense of being cross-marketed for the next 6 months?
Did you know that our gas is the only gas that will make you live 3 years longer?
Thank you for shopping at Mobil, our commitment to you continues all the way down the road

Instructions or directions on packaging that are now written in font the size of a gnats testicle.
And have them written in every language, specifically the 50 care instruction tags on the new sweater I bought, which for some reason English is on tag #25 between Swahili and Sanskrit.

 It's like we're living parallel lives. Our trash day is Monday, too. I take the cans out on Sunday night (got an alert on my phone to do it right around halftime of the SNF game). I also have an alert to have my son do a "trash run" to empty all of the little wastebaskets.

But yeah, if by some chance there is more trash that accumulates anywhere, it invariably gets put in a small bag (think Wal-Mart or Target size) and gets left outside the kitchen door on the BBQ (our trash cans are stored on the other side of a gate on the side of the house normally). Can't expect anyone to actually walk the additional 20' to throw the bag in the bin.
How come after I take the trash out the first thing that gets tossed in the bottom of the new bag is a banana peel that is gonna start smelling long before the bag is even half full
And if it's not a rotting banana peel then it's certainly going to be the leftovers of some shrimp tails or fish bones or smelly leftovers or gawd forbid she empties out the trash can in her bathroom
I demand hazard pay if I have to go in there and pull the bag out.

Smelly nasty things go in the freezer and are thrown out on trash day

You would think the way people put their trash cans out wouldnt affect me.

But since it is really windy today and so many idiots cant seem to figure out that you have to leave a bit of space between your trash and recycle bin there are bittles and cans blowing everywhere. It says right on our cans leave 4 feet between them.

You know so the guy controlling the big arm that reaches out and grabs the cans on the sides doesnt knock over the recycle bin.

One stupid couple puts their cans right next to each other and cant seem to notice they are the only morons that have their cans on the downward slope from sidewalk to street. Their recycle bin was already knocked over when i was at the bus stop with my daughter and the truck hadnt even been through yet. Guaranteed next week they will have them in the same position.

We play the "how much can we cram in the garbage can before someone takes it out?" Lid won't close, stuff spilling out...etc..

The NJ mandatory full-serve law is best appreciated when it’s raining or cold.

My 11 and 13 year olds are responsible for garbage and recycling (dishes and dog poo pickup too). They are on an every other day thing so they each know that if they can just cram a few more things in, it will be the others responsibility the next day to take it out. As you can imagine that thing gets so damn crammed that the loser kid who has to take it out has to grab stuff out individually because it is all stuck.

People at the grocery store who touch meat and poultry with their bare hands instead of using the plastic bag

People who don’t use the plastic bags that are meant for the meat and poultry

People who touch every piece of meat with their fingers.

I literally just told a couple at Costco about 10 minutes ago - “ you missed these two over here”

I don't know what this means.

When you get deli meat it comes in a bag. After youre done putting your deli meat on your sandwich, you flatten the bag and seal with as less air as possible. This helps keep it fresh. Same principal with cereal, potato chips and virtually everything else that comes in a bag and is perishable.

ETA - I havent smoked in a few days. Bare with me. Im ready to strangle.

You can touch the meat? At my Costco everywhere I have lived it's all wrapped in a package. I like the courtesy additional bag in case of a leak but idk the complaint here. Is yours like an open butcher case?

You mean the meat and poultry that's already wrapped up in plastic?

Related: people that use plastic bags for produce. Why? You're just going to go home and wash the celery, right? What's that bag doing for you, mate?

Why doesn't cereal come in a Ziploc type bag? Never understood this. Every effort I've ever made to open a bag of cereal for my kids ends in a ripped disaster. Terrible technology, Kelloggs. Do better.

Yeah, I mean you can but I think you’re disgusting for doing it, then waking around the store with your filthy hands touching everything else.

If you’re this unclean, it makes me question your hygiene.

Trust me when I say this, I fully realize that most people are filthy AF and will think I’m a jerm freak. Through my work over the years I’ve been in peoples homes. MOST people are filthy animals.

I still don't get it. I think you misunderstand my first sentence. Are people touching actual meat or just packages? Are these packages different than everything else in every store everywhere? Do you have the complaint about produce? It seems much more applicable to produce doesn't it?

I'm asking "wait wtf is it actually possible for people to touch meat at your store? All the meat is packaged at mine."

Oh..totally. I thought you meant after purchase as you opened them.

Speaking of this... My wife never seems to understand that just putting stuff into a zip lock bag means nothing until the zip is.. you know.. locked.

Also- putting some aluminum foil over the end of a piece of cut produce isnt doing whatever it is you think it's doing. Better than nothing I guess, but this is also why we have ziplock bags. If theyre zipped.

If you buy the large bagged unboxed cereals, such as Malt-O-Meal, it comes with a ziploc seal, but only halfway across the bag.

The ziploc seal should go all the way across the bag for better handling, but the movable seal ends in the middle of it.

No, not touching the actual meat. Even if touched, it gets cooked and we're good - still, not a huge proponent of others touching me food. These two were literally pressing down with two fingers on nearly every single package. Again, those packages arent exactly clean. Ive worked at grocery stores too and "the meat guys" are absolute savages.

So now the husband and wife salmonella team are touching everything else in the store.

You can touch the meat? At my Costco everywhere I have loved it's all wrapped in a package. I like the courtesy additional bag in case of a leak but idk the complaint here. Is yours like an open butcher case?

Yeah, I mean you can but I think you’re disgusting for doing it, then waking around the store with your filthy hands touching everything else.

If you’re this unclean, it makes me question your hygiene.

Trust me when I say this, I fully realize that most people are filthy AF and will think I’m a jerk freak.

Sounds like you need to start raising your own cattle.

Its more about the chicken.

People at the grocery store who touch meat and poultry with their bare hands instead of using the plastic bag

People who don’t use the plastic bags that are meant for the meat and poultry

People who touch every piece of meat with their fingers.

Everything is a scam these days.

Just tried ordering blinds. Buy one get one free deal. I tried to order 8 matching pairs of blinds. Started with the two most expensive. 269.99 each. Put both in cart. BOGO works.

Then I start entering the other stuff. Next pair is much smaller. Those are 109.99. total goes from 269.99 to 540.68.

Sorry selectblinds. You can go die.

Tried that. Let me get all the way to shipping address, then said our address already used the promo.

So then i called to cancel the order that went through for the 269.99 bogo. They then said they would honor the BOGO for even value for all the other ones. I still said cancel, cuz thats crap. They then wanted to only give me site credit.

They gave me a full refund eventually.

Related: people that use plastic bags for produce. Why? You're just going to go home and wash the celery, right? What's that bag doing for you, mate?
I think it's a lot easier to carry my loose apples, lemons etc. in them instead of having them roll around the cart. I usually get a prebagged thing of 6 or 8 apples and I just really like these but stuff like that isn't always available.

We use the produce bags as dog poop bags

me: makes lunch for 4. plates lunch. puts lunch plates on the table. pours drinks. eats. clears the table. washes the dishes. leaves one glass out because my youngest was still drinking from it.. but she walked away and left the glass. i didn't want to dump her drink and couldn't figure out where she went so i left the glass on the table.

wife: why didn't you put that dirty glass away? you just left it there. it's gross.

me: well, the kid was drinking it. wasn't sure if she was done or not. and she, you, or (other kid) could put it away if you want.

wife: yeah, but it's just gross. you cleaned up everything else why don't you wash that one, too?

me: i guess because i did everything else, it's now 30 minutes later and you're standing right next to it. you could pick the glass up and wash it if you want.

wife: (huffs, walks away and leaves the glass)

ff 6 hours to dinner

wife makes 2 flat breads for her and the oldest. cuts pizza, pours drinks and then eats pizza off of the cardboard box the pizza came in. finishes eating most of the pizza. leaves remains on the cardboard, on the kitchen counter. leaves dirty glasses and pizza cutter on the kitchen counter, walks away.

me: (walks in the kitchen 30 minutes or so later because i hear the cat ****ing with something) who left their unfinished pizza and dirty dishes on the kitchen counter?

wife: why don't you clean it up if it bothers you?

:hot: :hot: :hot: :hot: :hot: :hot: :hot: :hot: :hot:
