Every time I'm on a Teams call with people who are in the office, there's always a ton of background noise and other conversations that come through. It's very annoying because not only have they re-opened the offices, but they've embraced open floor plans! So this leads to everyone who decides to go in to have to find a conference room just to take a call.

This morning one of my supervisors half-jokingly yelled "WORK FROM HOME" when someone who was in the office couldn't get away from background noise.

I feel like I've seen this happen at the end of most MLB games, although it's usually just the winning team shaking hands with each other while the announcer thanks the sponsors and signs off. In football and basketball it feels like they never show it because there's always some sideline reporter that needs to shove a microphone into someone's face immediately before they even leave the field so they can ask the same regurgitated question every single time.

I've been running into more than my fair share of these people lately out in public.

No, your whistling doesn't sound nearly as good as you think it does.
 
2 restaurant ones that came up this weekend.

- Servers who don't write down the order if they can't handle it. I'll never be "that guy" who specifically asks them to write down the order but yesterday our young server wrote nothing down, my order was slighlty wrong and we never got one of the appetizers.

- the pacing of apps/salads/mains. This should be obvious. Don't bring out my main dish if I'm only halfway through my salad or appetizer.
 
I don't know if this is a pet peeve or just a rant or just the best place to put this blurb, but.... crazy people? More specifically, crazy people that also drive cars?

Yesterday, driving my kids home from stopping to see their mom at Starbucks (where she works), I'm totally going the speed limit, some person cuts in front of me going about 10 MPH below the limit, so I flip my blinker on, look in the mirror to make sure I'm clear, and then pass her... again, going the speed limit, maybe 1-2 MPH over?

I just so happen to look in my rear view and I can tell she's flipping me the bird. I look back a couple seconds later (she's probably 7-8 car lengths behind me) and she's giving me this very obvious clapping thing. Like, WTF?

I don't think much of it, but we come to a stop light, and she pulls up besides me in the right-hand turn lane and stops. I glance over and can tell she's yelling at me, but I just pretend I didn't see her and keep talking to my kids. Light turns green, I go about my business.

What a weirdo. I didn't do anything crazy (I'm an old man with kids, I barely go over 65 on the freeway these days). Serious unfounded road rage, lady. Have another martini.
 
Have a doctor's appointment for this Thursday that I need to reschedule. Called on Friday afternoon but they close early, and the "answering service" can't even allow me to leave a message (not doing a lot of answering there, are you?) I go to the online portal and click on My Appointments, but the button is grayed out and it says, "Cancel Appointment feature not available. Please contact the office to cancel your appointment."

So I call today at 4:30. Receptionists comes on and says, "Please hold," then after a few minutes of hold music comes back on and says, "Please hold" again. Then I get cut off. So I call back and it happens again. So I call back again and I get the same answering service, even though the office is not scheduled to close for another half hour.

Why do I feel like if I stopped by the office in person, they would lock the doors and hide behind the desk pretending no one was there?

Join the club. The eye surgery center never (and I mean NEVER) answers the phone. Pushing 2 to leave a voice mail gets you a message saying the voice mail box is full and it hangs up on you.

I plan on going over there and pitching a fit. It will not be pretty.

I worked shipping and receiving for a while
I had this supervisor as old as my grandparents, he must have lived through the Great Depression. He would periodically check how many staples we were using. One guy actually got dinged on his evaluation for using too many staples.
 
I know it’s not this lady’s fault but on a 4 hour flight and she literally coughs every 30 seconds or so. Been going on for at least an hour now.

Drink some ****ing water or something.

I can't remember what we got from Target a few years back (a shirt maybe?). Anyway, it was definitely small enough to fit in a shoebox and for some reason was shipped in a box that I could literally crawl into.

School apps are just insane. 4 different apps for what could be one sheet of paper per day.

Oh what's that, you think 1 sheet of paper per day per kid is worthy of saving? Sounds great. Let's eliminate the 27 pieces of paper that come home each day that could easily be online activities via Google sheets.
 
My peeve is major media companies publishing stories with grammatical errors. Come one, guys. I'll pick on CNN since I noticed it there today but I see this all over the internet from major companies that should be able to afford real editors.

They can, but they don’t bother. The position of copy editor has pretty much disappeared in mainstream media.
 
The wife felt like ordering food and dashing it for dinner. She put in the order for several food items and a couple of drinks. The order was accepted by the food establishment, we left a decent tip to entice a dasher to accept the order, and everything was fine. Then one by one the items we ordered were declared unavailable. We tried to select other items. but no changes were allowed. And the restaurant didn't substitute anything either. None of our food items were delivered, so substitutes were included, and only one of the two drinks made it us. It cost us like $30 for us to get ONE DRINK delivered to us. Both Door Dash and the restaurant didn't fight taking off the charges for the items that weren't delivered, but neither one would waive the entire order altogether. Who calls in for dinner and gets a single drink? We still had to worry about dinner! GRRRRRR!!!!!

Not as bad as your story, but similar vein.
I ordered and paid for food from the cafe on the Sam's club app. I go to get it and the guy looks at the screen and calls someone over (manager?) She looks at the screen and walks away. I cant hear the conversation. He calls my number and gives me my food and drink, minus the ice cream. He points toward the ice cream machine and says, machine is down. I look at the machine and it has an out of order sign on it. We stare at each other for a few seconds and he's waiting for me to say something. Dumbfounded, I say OK and simply walk away.
 
have stopped ordering delivery completely the last few years for similar reasons. orders are almost never complete, wait time is 1 hour or more, who knows if it's going to be lukewarm even by the time you get it.

easier to just pickup from the couple pizza places we might order from. double-check the order and if anything isn't right they fix it on the spot, usually with a comp of some sort and i'm home in half the time.
 
Probably not the right thread for this, but whatever...

People, around here at least, have stickers on their cars that say "Please Be Patient - Student Driver". Now if these were truly student drivers, I'd be fine with it, but inevitably, the driver is an older somebody. I assume they maybe have or had kids who recently learned to drive. Anyway... that's not really a pet peeve, just an observation... OK, maybe it's a pet peeve.

The reason I posted this though is that today I saw the best car sticker ever.

Why don't you just order take out to go and get yourself? I don't understand this need to have some middle man do a job you can do and apparently, the middle man CAN'T. So weird.

I very rarely use Uber Eats, etc. During COVID my company gave out some free Uber Eats meals and I used it then, but the only delivery I use at this point is Domino's / Pizza Hut. My wife will use Doordash from time to time and we've had no problems, but I just assume the worst and don't bother.

That's my wife's thing. I often grab whatever she orders, but I was watching football, so she thought it would just be easier to have someone deliver it. I tell her all the time that I will go get it and think it's crazy to pay the delivery charges.

No, I get it if you're in no shape to drive. I'd just prefer getting the food directly from the source, head home and then get my drink on.

Not sifting through 150 pages of this thread so I don't know if it has been mentioned, but slamming doors annoys the ever living sh*t out of me. Turn the knob and close it normally. People that use force and slam them to close are neanderthals.
