trash and recycling bins get picked up on Monday. for the last 15 years. always Monday.
the way my wife and (now kids) will wait until i put the bins out on the curb, then moan & groan about how they now have to walk out of the house, to the street, to throw something in the recycling or trash that has been in their room, on a table, wherever... for days sometimes.... is one of those small things that slowly drives a person insane, which other people think is petty & stupid to be cranky about.... until it happens to them. every week. for 15 years.
i could put them out at 7 AM on Sunday morning and the first thing they'd say on waking up is "why do i have to walk to the curb to throw out my trash? why didn't you just leave the bins in the garage?" or, those bins could go out as the collection truck is rounding the corner to our street on Monday morning and they'd moan that i put the bins out too soon and now they have to do.. so.. much... walking to throw something out.
i'm about to turn the trash inside out in the living room and make them walk each piece of trash to the street individually.

It's like we're living parallel lives. Our trash day is Monday, too. I take the cans out on Sunday night (got an alert on my phone to do it right around halftime of the SNF game). I also have an alert to have my son do a "trash run" to empty all of the little wastebaskets.
But yeah, if by some chance there is more trash that accumulates anywhere, it invariably gets put in a small bag (think Wal-Mart or Target size) and gets left outside the kitchen door on the BBQ (our trash cans are stored on the other side of a gate on the side of the house normally). Can't expect anyone to actually walk the additional 20' to throw the bag in the bin.
