Cleveland Browns (13 Viewers)

The second I saw the news OBJ is a Brown, I said to myself Mayfield is instantly a top5 dynasty QB.  Arguably even #2 behind Patty Matty.

Doesn’t seem like the Giants weren’t trading him. The recent stuff said they needed to be floored or whatever to move OBJ. This doesn’t feel like that, but I also don’t think it’s a horrendous move for NY. Clearly seems like they wanted to move on, Shurmur probably for sure (another strange connection involved, thanks Pat), and they got some pieces to work with.

Really happy Landry is in house. He should help OBJ. I wonder what kind of role Landry played in this too. There was one.

As a Jets fan, do you mean 50 years as a few? Sigh. At least Dorsey did it for Cleveland.
Problem for the Jets, much like my Skins, is you always seem to eek out too many wins and don't commit to a true rebuild.

Skins and Jets are examples how NOT to do it.  Browns quite the opposite.

Remember when he came to the Browns, he said we weren't going to have to worry about WR.  I always thought there was more to come.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot reports Breshad Perriman wants out of his one-year, $4 million contract with the Browns.

Well crap, I have no idea how to plan my draft week.  I generally plan for thursday at 8pm to be eventful.  Now?  Well, shucks.  Thanks Dorsey ya jerk, now I won't have a draft party to look forward to.
I am going to Nashville for the draft with a bunch of Browns fans.  I think there's going to be a lot more golf than originally planned.

A few days ago I stated that the Browns are winning the AFC N and I was was pretty confident in my remark.  I was told to cool my jets or pump the breaks.   Well, guess what?   I'm really confident that the Browns are winning the AFC N now.  This team is stacked!

It's being reported now by Schefter that the Browns and Rosenhaus mutually agreed to void the verbal agreement with Perriman

and that he's signing the same contract with Tampa Bay

I like that the guys we have signed and traded for are under contract right up until about their age 30 season.

Now, I have a feeling a lot of us want Earl Thomas, but this is the one that could be tricky.  He turns 30 in a couple months, and we would probably need to sign him to a 3 or 4 year deal I would imagine, which could end up being one of those "oh ####" contracts a year or so from now.

PLus, is he even fully healthy from his injury last year?  Did it cost him to lose a step?

Former Chiefs’ TE Demetrius Harris intends to sign a two-year deal with the Cleveland Browns, per source. Browns adding yet another weapon for QB Baker Mayfield.

A weapon? The guy has 57 receptions, 605 yards and 6 touchdowns in 5 seasons.

2019 NFL Free Agency Day 2: Here are Pete Prisco's 10 under-the-radar players who could make a difference

Demetrius HarrisKC • TE • 84

It's tough to get targets in a Chiefs offense loaded with playmakers, which is why Harris had just 12 catches last season as the backup to Travis Kelce. But at 27, he might be worth a look for teams in need of an athletic tight end. He had three touchdowns on his 12 catches.
NFL Free Agency 2019 Rankings and Tracker:

TIGHT ENDS

Demetrius Harris (27), Kansas City
He’s a three-down player who can align almost anywhere in the formation. He was understandably overshadowed by Travis Kelce in Kansas City but can be a 55-catch contributor as someone’s No. 1 tight end
We cut Fells so it left a hole for an in-line TE but this kid looks like he can play all three downs and line up anywhere.

We'll see but their could be something here.

I think any receiver in this offense is one play away from fantasy relevance.

Very happy for Browns fans. As a Skins fan we have shared your pain over the last few decades but where our chit show has zero signs of improvement you guys are building a contender for years to come.

Small detail that may have been missed.

Can confirm draft picks from the Olivier Vernon-Kevin Zeitler trade, No. 133 and No. 155 overall, revert back to #NYGiants and #Browns, respectively, as a result of the Odell Beckham Jr. deal

He was buried on another team's depth chart that didn't need him.  The upside is supposedly quite large.  But given the rest of the arsenal he may again not be needed.  Very interesting insurance policy though.  And both Kitchens and Monken have shown a desire to run more multiple TE sets than others.

We're going to be seeing a ton of soft cover-two which means the running game is going to thrive but it opens up a lot of things for two-tights who can catch and crease the seams since Baker is very-good attacking the middle of the field.

Potential under the radar move.

The name Demetrius Harris can make a name for himself in this offense.

I wanted Earl Thomas but man 55 million with 32 guaranteed for a guy about to turn 30 woulda been a tough contract to swallow
(Rotoworld) The Record's Art Stapleton is "hearing rumors" the Browns may be "making a play" to try and get S Eric Berry from the Chiefs.

Analysis: Stapleton is a Giants beat writer, so take this with a massive grain of salt. But the connection is there with GM John Dorsey knowing Berry from their time together in Kansas City, and Dorsey was the one who handed Berry his record-setting contract. Berry, though, is not the same player anymore after Achilles' issues and has played three games since the start of the 2017 campaign. The Chiefs are expected to rid themselves of Berry after signing Tyrann Mathieu.

A talent like that - you find a way to make it fit.  And I hate that he's now on a divisional rival.  But it'd have been an awkward fit here.  We already had a weakness in the middle of the field before moving Peppers, so now we're going to start two free safety's?  Yes, stopping the pass game is more important than stopping the run game, but there's a line...and I'm wary that alignment may be stepping over it.

Let's get a box guy.

Adarius Taylor: Flipping to Cleveland(RotoWire)

Taylor agreed to a two-year contract with the Browns on Wednesday, Jordan Schultz of ESPN reports. Analysis: The terms have yet to be disclosed. Coming off a career-best year with Tampa Bay in which Taylor racked up 60 tackles, one sack and five pass breakups, the Florida Atlantic product will beef up a Browns linebacking corps that recently parted ways with Jamie Collins, who logged over 1,000 snaps for Cleveland last season and churned out 104 tackles along the way.

Wonder if he'll be looking for a 1 year prove it deal.
I would think he'd be interested, unless he's injured more than expected/anticipated.  I'm sure Dorsey has already reached out to him on a short term/prove it type deal.  If he can still play at a high level, he'll be a much welcomed addition to the backfield.  If not, maybe as a veteran presence/leader for a rookie to be drafted later?

Have gotten used to watching the Browns on Sunday afternoons. Now they will likely get a bunch prime time Thursday/Sunday/Monday night games and I have to work those nights at 10.

Have radio there so it won't be too bad being able to listen to it.

A weapon? The guy has 57 receptions, 605 yards and 6 touchdowns in 5 seasons.
He’s a great athlete and decent player - he was raw coming into the league and has been stuck behind a great TE so there’s no shame in not putting up huge numbers - with that said “weapon” may be a bit of hyperbole.

Rotoworld suggested the possibility duke could cut.  I cant see that as a possibility.

I can understand trading him for a 2nd or maybe 3rd and then draft someone, but anything less just keep the guy.  Hunt is probably going to miss like 8-10 games

ADARIUS TAYLORLB, CLEVELAND BROWNS

Browns agreed to terms with LB Adarius Taylor, formerly of the Bucs, on a two-year contract.

Taylor took over as a starter after Kwon Alexander tore his ACL last season and played 634 snaps. He received horrendous marks from Pro Football Focus for his run defense, and the Bucs as a team fell off a cliff against the run when Taylor entered the lineup. Taylor shouldn't be viewed as a starter for a Browns team with playoff aspirations.

New #Browns LB Adarius Taylor: "I'm coming here to start and play. We'll see what the team needs me to do, but I came here to start." Added he hasn't received any impressions from team that he will start, but it's his goal
