This feels like a lost season all the way around now. I can't help but think the new owner will want to put his stamp on the franchise, bring in all new management and coaches, and scrap what's going on now. Of course, the first rookie owner mistake is to want to do just that, but hold off for a year or two, to allow the current staff to prove themselves.

Ultimately it means it still happens, but instead of wasting our time in 2012, he wastes our time in 2012, 2013, and 2014.

If he's gonna do it, he should just do it and get it over with.
Kinda like what Holmgren did.

Sounds like Lerner is keeping ~30% stake in the team. Didn't see it in this thread yet. Not sure if that's good or bad, or indifferent, but I think it's worth noting.

I wouldn't think the new owner changes anything drastic at this point of the season. Would they? I could certainly see this putting the Walrus on the hot seat for the team to do well this season or can though.

Banner from Philly is a part of the new ownership group, he will be coming here to be the team president - him and Holmgren will not coexist.

Is it crazy to hope that when Banner becomes president, he keeps Heckert in place and moves Holmgren to head coach?

Sounds like they are both gonzo....but it is not supposed to happen at today's presser.

This team is crazy. But maybe it is for the best. Just blows up a lot of my attempts to think I might know what is going to happen next.

In my mind, I think Haslam will not blow this team any time now. If the team doesn't look or play like a NFL team on the field and not like a 3rd string high school JV team.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Browns "fear" WLB Chris Gocong has suffered a ruptured right Achilles' tendon.Gocong will undergo a Saturday afternoon MRI to confirm the injury, but it sounds like his season is over. As is typical with Achilles' injuries, Gocong went down on a non-contact play. The injury means the Browns will be forced to turn to fourth-round pick James-Michael Johnson on the weak-side, though Kaluka Maiava could be in the mix once SLB Scott Fujita returns from his three-game suspension. Gocong has missed just one game the past five seasons.

Might as well get James-Michael Johnson on the field now. He's one of the guys getting a lot of positive pub out of camp.

Confirmed, BTW:Daryl Ruiter ‏@RuiterWrongFANGocong has a torn Achilles - done for year - will have surgery

With JMJ been looking great in camp so far, the lost of Gocong is a little easier to take. However we might have a little problem with Depth at LB now....Fujia is out for four games because of bounty gate

Could Banner be President and Holmgren report to him managing the football operations side of the business? Probably unlikely, but this is the only way Holmgren stays....unless he replaces Pat, which is even more unlikely imo.

Why the crying faces? Andrews is the best.
Right...and didn't he perform procedures on TRich already? If I were the Browns, I'd send him there too.And in other rumblings......Haden might be suspended - drugs.

On the bright side, neither have a staph infection.

Not Good:

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Trent Richardson is "tentatively" expected to undergo another knee scope during his Thursday visit with Dr. James Andrews.

Not necessarily bad either. Some folks get that scar tissue cleaned out, and their knee feels like a million bucks again. Not really worried about this at all. Not yet, anyway.

1.) Mort is often wrong and claims any message board rumor as "a source."2.) I've heard loose cartilage and scar tissue, so worst case scenario is clean it up and he's full go week 1.3.) I had cartilage cleaned out and had scar tissue. It felt like a major ##### at times. My physical therapist just told me to gently rub the tissue every day and eventually it would go away. It broke down after time. Of course, I wasn't a professional athlete who doesn't have the luxury of time when the season is coming up. Scar tissue is a natural response to surgery. It happens often. No need to worry unless we hear something different.

#3 overall pick having his knee scoped before taking one snap in a meaningful game? Pffft

#1 shutdown corner who s a leader on the defensive side of the ball popped for 4 games for taking Adderall? Bah

Other teams call that a major setback, start looking to the Gods of football ans ask why?

Browns fans call that Wednesday :football:

Bring it!

i love the positive spin going on in this thread.

don't agree with it, but it's a nice change of pace.

guarantee they start 0-5.

This is the thing. People are understandably anxious upon hearing this, though I think unnecessarily so. I'm not an orthopedic surgeon, though, I have consulted with several in the past regarding very issues, if we believe these reports. Seems very likely this is secondary to his February surgery, but a separate byproduct of the healing process gone a bit awry that's pretty natural. Scar tissue is not concerning, except that it has to be dealt with. Not like they're going to cut open his knee again. In fact, calling this scope a "surgery" feels to me akin to the "surgery" required to extract wisdom teeth. Unpleasant, unfortunate, uncomfortable for a brief amount of time, but...let's not put this on the same level as repair of an ACL, meniscus, etc. In fact, if this gives him symptom relief, this is great timing, and he should be up and running just fine. That's my hope, but it's also my expectation, until I hear otherwise.

Well, I've tried to stay quiet and Fensalk doesn't seem to be around.I don't think an 0-5 start is a guarantee, but we have to find a way to win at least 1 of Cincy and Buffalo. The Giants game has trap written all over it, but we need to go in there with a W or 2.I think it's safe to say the Eagles will whoop us in the opener though.

Reports are out that it was what we thought it was. This is seriously nothing. I tend to look at this as a positve as Richardson will probably sit out the preseason.

surprised not many are talking about this. Sounds like 4 games for Aderrall. Seriously, what does the NFL care about that for anyway?
I'm guessing they don't want their players ingesting it thru their noses for "fun". If you get it OK'd by a Dr. AND the league, it's fine. Sounds like Haden skipped one or both of those steps.

So, Browns starters have had 3 series in this preseason game. That's probably it for them. Couple of observations:

1. Brandon Weeden looks pretty good. Made a tough throw to Travis Benjamin on the sideline. Good zip and accuracy on his balls. Is not afraid to throw the ball away either. Bad INT though.

2. Montario Hardesty looks bad. Dude cannot break tackles. Dropping balls. He might be my least favorite guy on the team.

3. Massaquoai would be the other guy in the running. He plays ONE PLAY... and is out with a concussion. :excited:

4. Josh Gordon looks AWFUL. Poor routes and effort. Maybe the game is too fast for him right now, but both routes he ran where he was targeted it looked like he wasn't trying very hard. Probably to be expected though since he's so new.

5. Right side of the line is still a weakness. Both Lauvao and Schwartz are getting beat regularly. Schwartz got beat and it led to a fumble. Lauvao got beat and almost got Weeden killed by Suh. Looking forward to Schwartz playing better.

6. Jordan Cameron looked pretty good catching a ball out there.

7. Kaluka Maiava is going to be a liability... can't shed his blocks, missing tackles that are clearly in his gap. He's just not good.

8. Secondary looking good. TJ Ward hitting hard. Brown with an INT. Haden with a PD. Patterson with single coverage on Megatron
