Cleveland Browns (14 Viewers)

Was listening on the radio & maybe I just picked the sweet spot but it was right after the first turnover, then a punt block, then another turnover or something to that effect. I said a few adjectives and turned it off. Can't take more ineptness like last year. Tell me something good that ocurred last night.

Factory of Sadness churning out at full steam last night .
That was a great poker face last night, I remember a couple of years ago in pre-season the Giants pretty much totally embarassed the Browns, but when they played in the regular season it was like one of their 4 wins for the season. I am guessing with Trent in the game and maybe the real offensive line playing (assuming they brought in a local H.S. offensive line as stand ins) they should do better. But really this team is young and we shouldn't expect much this year even though we deserve to have a better team by now.

Any word on Marcus benard's injury? I know he left the stadium in a sling, but haven't seen an update.
Browns coach Pat Shurmur revealed Sunday that DE Marcus Benard has a dislocated elbow.Shurmur wouldn't provide a timetable, but this is a season-threatening injury for a player already on the roster bubble. Benard recorded six tackles (no sacks) in Cleveland's first three preseason games. He's an I.R. candidate. Aug 26 - 3:28 PMSource: ESPN Cleveland

that's a tough break for a guy they carried on IR after he wrecked his motorcycle last year.

would be surprised if he's not cut.

Wow, page 8. Didn't see the game. Was it that bad? Or was there just nothing to see? Hard to believe not a single comment after the last preseason rehersal.

I was painting but had the game on.Hardesty sucks, hopefully Jackson did enough to earn the #2 role, JMJ hurt his oblique, Craig Robertson somehow looked good amongst the rest of the garbage on the field, more special teams gaffes, Cribbs had a decent game - I expect him to be cut next year but surprised to hear the cut rumors now, Colt didn't play well, Seneca was better. My outlook on the season is about the same as it was in May.

I had early optimism after the draft, but that was quickly squashed during the preseason. I'd like to see some improvement this season, but can't claim to be overly optimistic. Perhaps Richardson being out the whole preseason is part of the reason I saw little to be optimistic about.

Agree, I think Richardson will make a huge difference. Jackson looked good last night. If Hardesty doesn't get cut with the fumbles and missed blocks and meh running, it will strictly be due to Heckert not wanting to admit he blew that pick. Hope they keep Sims at DB - guy seems to always be around the ball. Hopefully there are some decent LBs cut that they can pick up.

:goodposting: Richardson's going to have to be as good as I think he is or this season is doomed. I was hoping Jackson would step up last night and he did. Blindly hoping we pick up a Chris Polk type off waivers and subsequently dump Hardesty, but am wary Heckert is too stubborn to do it.There will be some decent LB's available, but I think Robertson could play a filler well adequately. Definitely need another body though. Here's hoping Sims punched Usama's ticket out of town too. Too bad Trevin Wade couldn't do it to Sheldon Brown too.

Richardson practicing today!

:towelwave:

Hooray

"In the 15 minutes open to the media, Richardson looked smooth and easy in all the drills. He wore a rubber sleeve on his left leg but did not have any limp in his gait."

I think the only reason Hardesty was able to stick was because Ogbannaya(sp) is dinged up. A healthy Obiwan, and Hardesty sees the door.

Holmgren confirms worst kept secret of camp: Haden has been suspended and has appealed. linky poo

I hate the thought of the defense without him.
If a suspension isn't announced in the next few hours he'll be out there week 1 at least. We badly need him this week. As you eluded to the defense looks fugly without him regardless (especially given all the injuries), but I don't see how we can even slow down the Eagles without him out there. I think we can at least somewhat contain our next 3 opponents without him, Giants would torch us though. Won't be pretty, but not nearly as ugly as this week would be without him.

I was happy to see Ogbonnaya made the roster, leads me to believe that when he is fully healthy that Hardesty is gone if we need the roster spot for someone else.

I think there's a lot of nice young talent in the secondary. I'm more worried about the LBs.
There is, but most of it is at safety. Patterson, Skrine, and Sheldon is a trio of burnt toast at corner. That said, very happy Haden is active this week and suspended for the next 4 likely. Need him this week most among the first 5.

NFL mandating every NFL team observe a moment of silence :hot: :wall:

Are they really that ####### stupid? What do they expect to happen in Cleveland? ughujuhgugugh

Well there are 58 pages of comments here so I will just ask:

Any chance Jordan Cameron breaks out this year?

Also, good luck to Browns fans, may you have a terrific season with a shot at the AFCC or SB. Would love to see y'all in the Dome, Clevelanders and Ohioans treated my family awesomely for the Hall Of Fame game.

It's not a mandated moment of silence. From what I've read and heard locally it's a mandated "moment of silence or other appropriate gesture".My guess is the Browns have been in communication with the NFL and the league agreed to include the latter portion. No way do we want to do a moment of silence. I have to think that was never an option here.

I got an "appropriate gesture" for him!

Report: It's Not Too Early To Be Pessimistic About Cleveland Browns

CLEVELAND—Though the team has yet to play a single game, a report published Thursday by Sports Illustrated football writer Peter King confirmed that it is not yet too early to be pessimistic about the Cleveland Browns this season. "In years past, it might have made sense to wait until they started out with a five-game losing streak to declare the season over, but clearly the time to give up on the Browns is now," said King, whose report determined Cleveland has "all the right pieces in place" to start getting blown out immediately in week one. "This is a team that is absolutely beyond hope, trusting their offense to a rookie quarterback who will turn 29 in October and a banged-up rookie running back. And with all the injuries in the defense, you'd be crazy not to have a completely bleak outlook on this #### team." While acknowledging the Browns are a perennial favorite for worst team in the league, the report concluded the floor of their potential is now lower than ever and, with a little luck, 2012 could be the year they finally put together a whole season without a single win.
linkypooWhat do they say about satire?

They have to let Fujita play even though he didn't practice, don't they?

eta: He will play according to NFLN.

I'm not sure Weeden is any better than McCoy, honestly. Plus, he's so old if he takes 2-3 years to get comfortable, he'll be 32ish and we'll need a new QB. What were they thinking?

You don't want to push the panic button on a QB after his first start against a complicated defense, but I really didn't like that he threw the exact same interception twice. Also running the ball at the end of the half instead of throwing into the end zone showed a lack of awareness.
