I would be curious what people aren't finding on there. Besides a handful of artists totally not on there like Tool and Neil Young, I seem to be able to get 95%+ of what I am looking for. Easily the best $10 I spend a month.Crate digging exercises like this really expose some of the gaps in Spotify's catalog. They've got new releases covered well except for a small number of major artists but there are a bunch of records from this draft era that have fallen off the grid because of rights issues.
Great picks, I love both of these songs.13.02A - Men At Work - Overkill - 1983
13.02B - Cake - I Will Survive - 1996
Maybe my favorite cover of all time.
Love these picks- was just listening to Oasis today.OK, I need a classic singalong song. The biggies from the 70s are taken (Piano Man, Sweet Caroline). One of the major biggies from the 80s is taken (Livin on Prayer). But I think this next one is right up there. Everybody scream "YOU TOLD ME IT WOULD LAST FOREVER!!!"
Bryan Adams -- Summer of 69 -- 1984
I will draft no Beatles, but to make up for it, I'll draft the most John Lennon-esque song never done by John Lennon
Oasis -- Don't Look Back in Anger -- 1995
LOL - nice pick. Not really in my top tier of songs but brings back a funny memory. I was at a friend's house and we were playing Mail Order Monsters (I can spotlight old video games - correct?), his mom walks in to his room, starts to ask him to do something, and he just cranks up the volume of that song on his stereo until you couldn't hear a word she was saying and ignors her. She yanks the cord out of the socket and tells me I need to go home while she has a chat with her son.13.whatever-a - Run DMC - "It's Tricky" (1986)
Look at the ####### hair on Penn & Teller. Song is still so much fun and so damn catchy.
1966 - The Supremes - "You Keep Me Hangin' On"
1967 - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell - "Ain't No Mountain High Enough"
1968 - The Jimi Hendrix Experience - "All Along the Watchtower"
1970 - Toots & The Maytals - "Pressure Drop"
1971 - Bill Withers - "Ain't No Sunshine"
1972 - Stevie Wonder - "Superstition"
1973 - Al Green - "Here I Am (Come and Take Me)"
1977 - Bob Marley - "One Love/People Get Ready"
1978 - Earth, Wind & Fire - "September"
1979 - The Sugarhill Gang - "Rapper's Delight"
1983 - Lionel Richie - "All Night Long (All Night)"
1984 - Billy Ocean - "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)"
1986 - Run DMC - "It's Tricky"
1987 - Eric B & Rakim - "I Ain't No Joke"
1988 - Bobby Brown - "My Prerogative"
1989 - Bell Biv Devoe - "Poison"
1990 - A Tribe Called Quest - "Can I Kick It?"
1992 - Mary J. Blige - "Real Love"
1994 - Aaliyah - "Back and Forth (feat. R. Kelly)"
1995 - Mobb Deep - "Shook Ones (Pt. II)"
1996 - Fugees - "No Woman No Cry"
2000 - OutKast - "B.O.B."
2003 - My Morning Jacket - "One Big Holiday"
Fair point. Woke up grumpy and havent helped matters by chiming in today.I am in the thread more than you realise thoughDon't be so temperamental, Johnny. My point was yes people who would like to do three or four picks a day want to make their picks, but also we are listening to other folks songs and commenting on things we want to. We also see that when some songs are picked it generates more conversation. I like the chit chat. We also see that when no songs are being picked there can be long lags of time that go by. Being that you are usually on autoskip, you aren't here a lot and don't see how much time can go by with nothing be said. Evidentally you also don't see that these people do add commentary and such. It surely isn't anything to take personal. That comment by Simey really bugs me.I'm in the top half of posters commenting in this thread and the reason I'm on autoskip is a consideration one. If you want me to waste an hour for everyone of my picks when I'm not going to be here, then I'll do that if I choose to participate in future threads. I'm in this thread plenty comparatively, comment and listen to other songs.I am only one drafter. There are 30+ of us. I make a point of commenting on a few picks every day and i am in this thread for at least an hour a day, but if we stick with 4 a day, i will make my picks, spend 2 minutes in the thread and #### off. Just like everyone else will. Happens every draft where we speed up so everyone can race to the finishToday doesn't seem rushed to me at all. I think there is more conversation when picks are made. Of course that is just my opinion. JML asked yesterday about if people who want four picks a day just want to make their picks or are they also adding commentary and listening to the songs, and I think that is a strange question coming from someone that lives on autoskip, and isn't here that much. I also notice that some that have fallen behind have been around over the last few days and have been posting in other threads, but just not posting in here. That's their choice.Yup, four a day is just too rushed, particularly with a three-day weekend coming up. I'd really like to us scale back to two for Friday through Monday and then see where we are.![]()
Bloody hell. Im going to have to apologise here arent i? It was meant as a compliment, but as usual JML puts his foot in his mouth when the blood pressure rises.Sorry Simey for any offence taken.Women amiriteFunny thing is it's only a comment a female can make. Totally innocuous comment, but did just enough to get under my skin and now I can't think of bloody anything else. It's an art form really. You're a monster, simey.
<----- JML. We're good now.
Yes. I need some Zig Zags.13 . 3 --- eephus -- Soul Flower (remix) -- The Pharcyde -- 1992

for this whole album. Listen to it about once a month.Colin Hay was touring with Barenaked Ladies and Violent Femmes last year. He was effing fantastic as a solo act + acoustic guitar. Members from all the bands did a rendition of popular song with the saxophone at the end.13.02A - Men At Work - Overkill - 1983
13.02B - Cake - I Will Survive - 1996
Maybe my favorite cover of all time.
They dance just as good as they want.13 . 3 --- eephus -- Tighten Up -- Archie Bell and the Drells -- 1968
Colin played Ribfest (Naperville, Il) about 10 years ago and I've heard nothing but raves about him live since. I curse myself for not getting out and seeing him every time his name comes up.Colin Hay was touring with Barenaked Ladies and Violent Femmes last year. He does sort of look like what Question Mark looks like now but my guess is he's just the horn player in the house band. They dance just as good as they want.13 . 3 --- eephus -- Tighten Up -- Archie Bell and the Drells -- 1968
Killer groove record.
Just watched the link - is that Jon Kay behind Archie standing there with his arms crossed? Or is it Question Mark?
That would be awesome. I might have some suggestions.Wonder if I can make the rest of my picks from like 1997 - 2005 with every song featuring Nate Dogg.
) we get 5 each. FYI ilove80s!!!Oops! Something went wrong!alright i will get in on this if there are still openings brohans take that to the bank
I don't mind if Eephus doesn't - but you are 24 picks behind.alright i will get in on this if there are still openings brohans take that to the bank
Seconded (again, if Eephus is cool with it). Marathoning 20+ picks overnight - with commentary - would be my late entry penalty if it were up to me.I don't mind if Eephus doesn't - but you are 24 picks behind.alright i will get in on this if there are still openings brohans take that to the bank
I've got 72 pre-66 picks on my list if I need them, but am trying to stick to the '66-'15 thing.Been playing with Base from LibreOffice, so I decided to make a DB of the draft. So, I have pulled out the picks that have been done in the Pre-1966 era. If I remember correctly (I know I will be corrected if I am wrong!) we get 5 each. He loves to play basketball, and played in school. One of my high school friends who played basketball in high school got a basketball scholarship to William and Mary, and he lived with Bruce's parents while in college. Bruce's parents hosted basketball players for William and Mary, and my friend happened to be one of the players they hosted. My friend said Bruce would come over all the time to shoot basketball at his parents house.1986 - The Way it Is - Bruce Hornsby and The Range
Saw him at a Clinton Inauguration event (1996 I think), standing in the back entrance (I was going to be checking coats) waiting to get in, never noticed how tall he was before. He was head and shoulders above everybody. I guess when you are only seen at a piano, you never see height.
Maybe I'll draft your favorite song for you. Maybe. I still haven't filled that year yet.brohans i better not i appreciate it honest but on second thought i would just let you down and be a pain about making picks on time but hey i just saw that list of good tunes from the fifties and sixties and it got me revved up thanks anyhow but man keep it going in that direction take that to the boss ride bank wolfmanjackhans

I just got sniped. For the first of my pre 66 picks, I'm going with one that has a magnificent Musitron solo in the middle. Way ahead of its time.

One of the 10 best rock songs of all time. That organ solo kills me and to think it was totally improvised on the spot in 1 take.Pure all-time classic. Wasn't sure if we were doing the pre-'66 pick thing, so I didn't even have it on the list, but I did look it up.
