DI Jukebox Draft (66-15)- Listen up (3 Viewers)

12.10 Modest Mouse - The View (2004)

Gotta get some Modest Mouse in the juke. I like other songs from other years better but it just didn't work out. This is my favorite from Good News... I still haven't listened to the 2015 album but I have not heard good things

12.10 MGMT - Time to Pretend (2008)
Also my favourite song from Good News. Strangers to Ourselves is okay, worth a listen for sure, but not near their best.

Spoon are my favourite band to listen to on album (there are others that are better to see live IMO).
Live, the rest of the band can be a bit dull, but there's something about Britt that's just mesmerizing to me. Great stage presence and as effortless and natural a singer as I've seen

Yep, I agree with this, he is awesome. To be honest, Divine Fits may be a more engaging live show, but I love Dan Boeckner too.

THE VAPORS - NEWS AT TEN -1980

Their album New Clear Days doesn't have a bad song on it and this is my favorite. If you only know them from Turning Japanese I highly recommend checking out the album .Their second album was meh but still don't know what happened . The wheels just fell off the wagon

OASIS-####IN' IN THE BUSHES 2000

weputthisfestivalonforyoubastards

I'll admit it , I love Oasis. If I was a MMA fighter , this would be my entrance song , if I was a MLB player , it would be my walk up song
New Clear Days is one of my favorite albums as well. Didn't think k anybody else knew about that album. Their second album wasn't very good, but "Jenny Jones" is up there with all of the great stuff from New Clear Days.

13 round picks

BUFFALO TOM-TAILLIGHTS FADE 92

Sister Can You Hear Me Now
 Once I learned open chords, and found Ultimate Guitar online, this was one of the first songs I tackled. Now if I could just sing the damn thing in tune....
Take some voice lessons, srsly! They really, really help if your instructor is good. The mechanics of singing and properly projecting one's voice are not intuitive at all.
I was actually a really good singer until puberty hit. Or maybe it was until the cigarette and dope smoking started. Actually, it was the combination of the two since they probably hit within a month of each other.

Since we're not going back to the snake draft, I rearranged the draft order on the spreadsheet to alphabetical by FBG name beginning in round 14. This should make it easier to enter songs especially if people don't post their pick numbers.

14a - Dance, Dance, Dance - Beach Boys - 1964 (single)

14b - Chatterbox - New York Dolls - 1974 - In Too Much Too Soon

I'm a little light on the commentary these days just because it seems like there's not much to say. I would have loved to pick a Beach Boys song from '65, but I botched that by needing The Zombies on my juke. Today!, Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!), and Party! are probably the three best releases during a year I can think of. I have to honor this band in some way, and I'll honor the other in due time, I think. I just think the Beatles and the Beach Boys were the epitome of great rock and roll bands, one American, one from the U.K.

As for the Dolls, I love Johnny Thunders, like many others in the draft. Keith Richards with an edge, I guess. I love this song. It slays me. I think another Thunders song will wind up in my mix, and I'm holding out and spotlighting a bit. The funniest clip of the New York Dolls is when they're on the Old Grey Whistle Test and the guy calls them "mock rock" as if that's an insult. Rock is modern. Prescriptive rather than descriptive. And ironic and serious at the same time. I wonder what that guy thinks when he listens to those albums, brilliant in all their campiness, glorious, still alive though the players are dead. Old Grey Whistle Test indeed.

14b Janes Addiction- Stop, 1990

Señores y señoras
Juanas Addicion.

I would love another song off of this album. The only one they didn't mail the parts in from afar. It was a great track, and if they'd been sober or with it, a great album.

I tried hard to get a Dolls song in my jukebox. It didnt work out unfortunately
I'm still struggling with your theme. How did Zamboni get it?
Maybe it will help if I tell you that it DID fit my theme, I just couldnt fit it in with the limited discography
I might know your theme. I'll send you a PM.

My BIL had to go to the hospital last night, and he's still there. He has been puking and has had diarrhea since Super Bowl. He went to an urgent care two days ago, but they didn't know what was wrong. Everyone (including his parents who drove down from Charlotte yesterday afternoon) finally convinced him to go to the hospital last night, and it was discovered that his intestines are twisted. The doc is going to see if they untwist in the next day or two, and if not he will have surgery. He is on morphine, and they are trying to control his potassium level.

Best wishes. I came down with a case of cellulitis recently, which is part of the reason why I left the board for a bit. I relate the story because I hope the hospital helps, and if morphine doesn't help with pain, tell him to request dilaudid, which is what I wound up on in the end. It's hydromorphone, and I actually can't believe morphine is going to help him, but I am NO doctor.

Best of luck. Make sure to advocate for him. They're sending PA's instead of doctors around on rounds these days. It's silly, and wrong. Advocate.

My sister will be on top of it. She is a teacher, but she took the day off to be with him. My brother and I called her "The Sergeant" growing up cause she was so bossy. She will be heard.

Hey, name the music book I read a few years ago! It's post-punk time!

Orange Juice -- Rip It Up -- 1983

I have tried to see if I could stay away from Prince in this draft, particularly as its so hard to find some of his stuff on YouTube. But screw it.

Let me lean your body against a parking meter.

Strip your dress down like I was stripping a Peter ...

Paul's Almond Joy

Let me show baby

I'm a talented boy
Prince & The New Power Generation -- Gett Off -- 1991 (no youtube link)
