THOUGHTS:

My goal was to approximate the best team possible. So I started with studs at each position and worked backwards, trying to find a way to get top production from each starting spot without paying top dollar.

QB was pretty easy. Brees was a great buy at $21. He offers monster game potential. Manning was a real solid value at $14. He's flying under the radar, but I think he could have the best season of his career. He has a strong WR group and will probably be throwing a lot.

There's simply no one who compares to LaDainian Tomlinson. So even though it's likely that half the teams in the contest will have him on the roster, I still felt that he was a must buy due to his unparalleled consistency and big game potential. I considered spreading those dollars around, but at the end of the day I was happier with LT than I would be with a Henry/Maroney or Bush/Maroney combo. McAllister was a nice value at $23. I'm one of the biggest Reggie Bush fans on the board, but Deuce was a monster even during Reggie's stretch run. He should be a good back for me. Ahman Green was another nice buy. He seems poised for a good year. I considered Lynch and Peterson, but ultimately decided to bank on proven talent over upside.

Stud WRs are always overvalued in a best ball league. I never even considered spending $20+ for a WR. Instead I loaded my roster with sleepers who seem poised for big things. Berrian, Holmes, Curtis, and Curry are the backbone of this unit. These four guys are some of my favorite value picks this year. I expect them to significantly outperform expectations. Berrian and Holmes in particular have the potential to shatter their price tag. Toomer and Engram are extremely undervalued in best ball/survivor. Both guys could be top 30-40 in ppg. At just $3 a pop, I felt that they were great additions. Demetrius Williams, Patrick Crayton, and Chris Henry were added for their big play potential. I realize that Henry will be out of commission for much of the season, but he'll be back in time for the important weeks. Quantity trumps quality at WR in best ball. This group lacks star power, but should nevertheless be a strong point.

The TE position often goes overlooked. That's a mistake. Having Shockey and Witten in this contest last year was a big part of the reason for why I advanced to the final 1,000. I didn't quite have the cash to spend on that duo, but I did land a top tier guy in Witten. Daniels is a nice sleeper who should contribute regular good weeks. Alex Smith was one of the quiet steals of the contest at just $1.

I pondered three kickers, but ultimately decided to add Chris Henry at WR instead. Jeff Reed and John Kasay are two solid kickers who should combine to give me decent numbers.

I really wanted to find a way to fit the Chargers defense into my plans, but I couldn't make it work without sacrificing overall team quality. So I went with a three-headed monster of the Cardinals, Titans, and Lions. I figure that at least one of those teams should have a decent game each week.

Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with this group. It would be nice to have a little more depth at RB, but I think I managed to load my roster up with lots of underrated guys who have a chance to greatly exceed expectations. These contests are unpredictable, but if my team stays healthy it has a chance to go pretty deep.

QB - Carson Palmer - 26

QB - Joey Harrington - 6

I think Palmer is going to have the best season of any QB, so there you have that.

RB - Larry Johnson - 49

RB - Willie Parker - 44

RB - Adrian Peterson - 23

RB - Adrian Peterson - 4

Instead of going with LT, I decided to pay a little more and go with LJ and Parker. My thinking is very few people will have LJ in this contest, I think LJ and Parker are going to finish with monster years, and I think LT although he will be great, will come back to the pack a bit. AD Peterson should have some monster weeks, overall I love my RB corp.

WR - T.J. Houshmandzadeh - 34

WR - Santonio Holmes - 14

WR - Michael Jenkins - 8

WR - Craig Davis - 5

WR - Bobby Wade - 5

WR - Wes Welker - 3

WR - Anthony Gonzalez - 3

WR - Jacoby Jones - 2

I wanted to get at least 1 stud WR, and then fill in the rest with starters with potential. I ended up with 3 #1 WR, 2 #2 WR, and 3 Slot #3 Wr. I like my chances with these 8.

TE - Bo Scaife - 9

TE - Daniel Graham - 7

TE are hurting due to price spent on RB. Not much else to say here other then I expect V young to be hitting Bo with quite a few tds.

PK - Rian Lindell - 1

PK - Kris Brown - 1

PK - John Kasay - 1

PK by committee, anything else I view as a waste.

TD - Oakland Raiders - 3

TD - Tennessee Titans - 1

TD - Houston Texans - 1

same with Defenses, although I did want San Diegos due to their big play ability, I decided to downgrade to the raiders and with that add Houston.

Lastly

championship...

Locked now.I'll post some stats tonight or tomorrow (or soon).
Why is this locked I was just about to enter my team?
Deadline is 1am tuesday Sept.04,2007 about 16 hours ago!
So, If I do not see my team on the entry form page, does that mean I have no entry??? What happened to the team I picked?
Did you click submit picks before 1:01AM ET today? if so no worry

don't the rules state that the best 3 WR's each week count towards your total? IF so how are they over-rated?

He said that stud WRs are overrated in this format. Last year I had Larry Fitzgerald, and I agree with EBF. Spending that much on one WR killed me.

I suppose if your stud WR it out with injury - then yes. I took ho-hum Harrison and TJ Housyourmamma....lots of catches and TD's....backed up with DJack, Crayton, Curtis, Jacoby, Welker, Shaun MacDonald.....so I think I'll have a good shot at 3 good WR's each week.

Assuming that LT regresses back to him normal production and P.Manning doesn't blow up, I think I have a shot. I was also in the mindset of quantity with upside over proven quality as long as they are starters. Bye weeks can kill you if you go with all high priced studs.

WRs are overrated in best ball because you can get roughly the same production from 2-3 cheap WRs that you can get from 1 stud. I'd much rather have Bernard Berrian, Santonio Holmes, and Amani Toomer than Chad Johnson.

Could be tough with Brady/Culpepper as your only QB options. May be a tough week for you when NE is on a bye, or, if Brady has a bad day.

I did horrible last year and half expect to see the same this year. I feel like I have each position covered in event of injury, though I think it's the homerun ball that wins this thing...the insurance runs may not amount to anything. I feel like I could have a homerun in both FWP and Travis Henry. Good luck to all.

This group lacks star power, but should nevertheless be a strong point.
don't the rules state that the best 3 WR's each week count towards your total? IF so how are they over-rated?
He said that stud WRs are overrated in this format. Last year I had Larry Fitzgerald, and I agree with EBF. Spending that much on one WR killed me.
I suppose if your stud WR it out with injury - then yes. I took ho-hum Harrison and TJ Housyourmamma....lots of catches and TD's....backed up with DJack, Crayton, Curtis, Jacoby, Welker, Shaun MacDonald.....so I think I'll have a good shot at 3 good WR's each week.
If you make it to these weeks..you got 2 starters out in week five and 2 in week six..rest of your wr's are not starters.

Edited to provide commentary

I never got passed week 8 in this thing, so you may notice I took some "advice" from the articles on the site

QB - Alex Smith - 12

QB - Jason Campbell - 11

QB - Jeff Garcia - 8

QBBC - not sure where I saw this recomendation :hophead: . I started with Peyton, thought at 31 he was good value, but then was never happy with his backup. Went the 3 qb route to maximize scoring options since I was taking scrubs with good match ups

RB - Shaun Alexander - 41

RB - Rudi Johnson - 40

RB - DeShaun Foster - 13

RB - Ron Dayne - 3

RB - T.J. Duckett - 2

RB - Tony Hunt - 1

Big changes from my first shot - mostly because of the dreaded 5/6 off weeks. I took a shot at two studs and then really some not so good picks. I went with Shaun because I had a gut feel he was going to be a top 3 rb this year

WR - Larry Fitzgerald - 38

WR - Isaac Bruce - 15

WR - Santonio Holmes - 14

WR - Ronald Curry - 8

WR - Arnaz Battle - 5

WR - Jacoby Jones - 2

When I first went for WR, I had (again) too many 5/6 off weeks. I went for a bunch of WR who could break out ( Holmes/Burry/Battle) one flyer (jones), one stud and one solid #2

TE - Jason Witten - 19

TE - Bo Scaife - 9

TE - Eric Johnson - 1

I like Witten with the 1.5 pts per reception. Eric is starting I believe and Bo was a flyer. Probably the wrong flyer.

PK - Jason Elam - 3

PK - John Kasay - 1

Best Guess

TD - Minnesota Vikings - 3

TD - Tennessee Titans - 1

Again, not sure where I got this recomendation from

Swinging for the fences on RBs. SJax and LT2 were too cheap to pass up. Need AD to step up on BYE weeks, or some goal line vulturing.

I was kinda disappointed to not see Jesse Chatman listed.

Housh and Curtis out week 5...meh. The one I'll admitt concerns me week 6 - Marvin and DJack.

my week 6 RB's : Bush vs Seattle, Willis vs Rams, Fred vs Houston - so 2 of those 3 should have good points.
