QB - Peyton Manning - 31

QB - Vince Young - 17

RB - Brandon Jacobs - 26

RB - Jerious Norwood - 24

RB - Adrian Peterson - 23

RB - Kevin Jones - 16

RB - Brandon Jackson - 15

WR - Donte Stallworth - 14

WR - Brandon Jones - 12

WR - Kevin Curtis - 10

WR - Devery Henderson - 9

WR - Troy Williamson - 4

WR - Demetrius Williams - 3

WR - Wes Welker - 3

WR - Anthony Gonzalez - 3

WR - Jacoby Jones - 2

WR - Chris Henry - 2

TE - Dallas Clark - 12

TE - Owen Daniels - 11

TE - Bo Scaife - 9

PK - Nick Folk - 1

TD - Green Bay Packers - 3

My biggest regret is not finding a way to get LT on my team. If he has a year remotely like last year, I can't imagine a non-LT team will win this thing. For example, I could have swapped KJ, Leon, Foster & Lee Evans for LT, and prayed that my other WR's would step up.

QB - Vince Young - 17

QB - Daunte Culpepper - 4

QB - David Garrard - 2

Culpepper & Garrard will be on a lot of rosters. Vince Young has a McNabb-like skillset, and has as good a shot at QB2 as anybody.

RB - Reggie Bush - 45

RB - Kevin Jones - 16

RB - Leon Washington - 14

RB - DeShaun Foster - 13

RB - Adrian Peterson - 4

Really banking on Reggie to push for #1 overall in PPR. If Bush/Foster/Leon can get me to midseason, KJ could put me over the top. I think that in order to win this, you really need three stud RB's, which means taking some semi-flyers. I am as bearish on Benson as I've been on anybody in a while.

WR - Lee Evans - 29

WR - Isaac Bruce - 15

WR - Santonio Holmes - 14

WR - Kevin Curtis - 10

WR - Devery Henderson - 9

WR - Ronald Curry - 8

WR - Demetrius Williams - 3

WR - Wes Welker - 3

I probably put too much $$ in WR. $85 in my top 6 guys is a ton. Championship-caliber teams seem to have a bunch of $2 WR studs. That said, I really like those small speedy WR's, since they have high standard deviation. I really think that each of my top 6 has a realistic chance at being top 12 overall. Almost took Chris Henry instead of Welker, but I had enough early bye week issues as it is.

TE - Kellen Winslow Jr - 24

TE - Bo Scaife - 9

KWII scares me in dynasty, but I really like him in PPR this year. He was a monster last year, and his situation is greatly improved with an improved OL, RB and maybe QB. TE success tends to correlate strongly with OL and RB success.

PK - Ryan Longwell - 1

PK - Nick Folk - 1

TD - Chicago Bears - 8

TD - Houston Texans - 1

Could have gotten just as many points with 3-4 dustbin DEF's, but not worth giving up the roster slots to save a few $. Bears three worst weeks (SOS) are all strong weeks for HOU.

QB - Eli Manning - 14

QB - Joey Harrington - 6

RB - Travis Henry - 43

RB - Brandon Jacobs - 26

RB - Adrian Peterson - 23

RB - Dominic Rhodes - 3

WR - Deion Branch - 26

WR - Greg Jennings - 17

WR - Bernard Berrian - 16

WR - Mike Furrey - 8

WR - Eric Moulds - 5

WR - Wes Welker - 3

WR - Anthony Gonzalez - 3

WR - Hank Baskett - 2

WR - Sinorice Moss - 1

TE - Randy McMichael - 11

TE - Ben Troupe - 5

PK - Josh Brown - 2

PK - Rian Lindell - 1

TD - New York Giants - 3

TD - Green Bay Packers - 3

Here's mine. I tried a diff strat this year by spreading out value rather than accumulating it at the top. Not happy with my team as I look at it. But it's locked.

I went with value picks to set my base. Then added some sleepers and some "what the hells". In other words I don't know what the hell I did, but here's my squad with some comments as I remember them:

QB Roethlisberger...have him ranked as QB10 only 34 pts behind Brees as QB3, but saved $3

QB Garcia...I think I liked who TB was playing on Roethlisberger's BYE week

RB Henry...RB8 only 18 pts behind LJ as RB3 but saved $6

RB McGAhee...similar to Henry at RB8 (21 pts diff) and $14 cheaper!!

RB ADPeterson...he's a steal at $23 that I'm sure we all have

RB Foster...another steal at $13! Having a great camp and right now is still RB 1 on his team!

RB Harriosn...needed to fill 22 roster spots and with PPR he may surprise some people on some weeks

RB Hunt...needed to fill 22 roster spots, potential TD vulture and only $1

WR Evans...only 23 pts behind Smith as WR 1, but much cheaper at $29

WR Holmes...he will be Pittsburgh's WR1 in time and at $14 he's well worth it

WR VJax...another sleeper steal at $14 that everyone knows about

Here's where I loaded up on cheap WRs hoping any given week one might break into my Top 3 WRs:

WR Wade...WR1 on the Vikings...why not?

WR Demetrius Williams...playing well and could push Mason, plus he's only $3

WR Jacoby Jones....reading alot about him and only $2

WR Northcutt...thought I read he was going to be Jax WR1...steal at $1!!

WR Sinorice Moss...had to fill 22 roster spots

TE VDavis....no real WRs to throw to on SF so I'm hoping he gets a ton of receptions!

TE Pope...had to fill 22 roster spots and who the heck know's....he's tall

K JBrown...actually came out as K 3 and for only $2

K Kasay...needed another K and he was a buck

Strategy here was to make sure I had at least one great Defense score for me each week, so I doulbed my odds!

D Baltimore....had them ranked D2, 5 pts behind Chicago

D NE...had them at D 4

We'll see how things pan out! I liked my squad until I started seeing the others!

QB - Drew Brees - 21 QB - Matt Schaub - 10 RB - Reggie Bush - 45 RB - Willie Parker - 44 RB - Adrian Peterson - 23 RB - Anthony Thomas - 4 RB - Tony Hunt - 1 WR - T.J. Houshmandzadeh - 34 WR - Jerricho Cotchery - 24 WR - Craig Davis - 5 WR - Bobby Wade - 5 WR - Roddy White - 3 WR - Wes Welker - 3 WR - Patrick Crayton - 3 WR - Jacoby Jones - 2 TE - Owen Daniels - 11 TE - Eric Johnson - 1 PK - Josh Brown - 2 PK - Kris Brown - 1 TD - Pittsburgh Steelers - 4 TD - Carolina Panthers - 3 TD - Houston Texans - 1_______A bit week at TE, but otherwise like the potential here.
Nice team...I haven't checked your bye weeks, but, if they match up, you should be looking pretty good. You could probably use a QB3 (maybe Garrard instead of the Panthers D), but, I think you have a great team. Good luck.
Thanks.I like that I'm not seeing FWP on many rosters. I like him paired with Reggie Bush, and think AD should be a nice bye week fill in.I think I have great (potential) strength in these bottom WRs:WR - Bobby Wade - 5 WR - Roddy White - 3 WR - Wes Welker - 3 WR - Patrick Crayton - 3 WR - Jacoby Jones - 2IN retrospect, I would have picked up Garrard. But am banking a lot on Brees, while thinking that Schaub has a lot of potential to surprise with the weapons he has in A Johnson, A Green, and now J Jones.

Wanted a team capable of competing in the finals if I got there because I got killed in the final 600 a couple years ago. Strategy almost worked last year when I came in 7th.

My strategy was to pay up for the best QB, RB, a couple more solid RBs, and a decent TE. This enabled me to grab 10 WRs and 3 D's.

QB - Peyton Manning IND (bye: 6) - $31

QB - David Garrard JAX (bye: 4) - $2

Manning is capable of putting up more points than most on a given week and Garrard is capable of filling in on an off or bye week if the rest of the team is solid. Went with only 2 because I wanted to save $'s and a roster spot.

RB - LaDainian Tomlinson SD (bye: 7) - $70

RB - Adrian Peterson MIN (bye: 5) - $23

RB - Cadillac Williams TB (bye: 10) - $21

I was willing to pay up for LT because he can put up points that most can't match when he is scoring well and he also carried me last year. By the time he goes on bye there could still be a lot of people that also have him sitting that week. Peterson should be stronger late in the year when it counts. Didn't want to try to predict an injury so no handcuffs. Also didn't want someone if they didn't have the potential to put up 20 points in a week. If LT is healthy I should have 2 solid scores and can use RB as my flex some weeks.

WR - Isaac Bruce STL (bye: 9) - $15

WR - Santonio Holmes PIT (bye: 6) - $14

WR - Kevin Curtis PHI (bye: 5) - $10

WR - Devery Henderson NO (bye: 4) - $9

WR - Ronald Curry OAK (bye: 5) - $8

WR - Arnaz Battle SF (bye: 6) - $5

WR - Demetrius Williams BAL (bye: 8) - $3

WR - Patrick Crayton DAL (bye: 8) - $3

WR - Jacoby Jones HOU (bye: 10) - $2

WR - Chris Henry CIN (bye: 5) - $2

Quantitiy over quality here and wanted guys capable of having a big game. Given 10 WRs I think I can get 3 or 4 decent scores each week.

TE - Kellen Winslow Jr CLE (bye: 7) - $24

TE - Eric Johnson NO (bye: 4) - $1

Winslow could post big #'s given PPR and I couldn't afford Gates since I wanted LT and Manning. My weakest position but I think I can stay competitive if Winslow doesn't get hurt.

PK Neil Rackers ARI (bye: 8) - $2

PK John Kasay CAR (bye: 7) - $1

10th WR limited me to 2 kickers.

TD St. Louis Rams STL (bye: 9) - $2

TD Arizona Cardinals ARI (bye: 8) - $1

TD Detroit Lions DET (bye: 6) - $1

Quantity over quality here too. 3rd D seemed to provide more value than a 3rd kicker, especially since I wasn't willing to pay up for D.

QB - Daunte Culpepper - 4

QB - Damon Huard - 4

QB - Brady Quinn - 3

QB - David Garrard - 2

With 4 cheap QB's I figured one each week would score high pts. I used this strategy for kickers and Defenses as well.

RB - LaDainian Tomlinson - 70

RB - Reggie Bush - 45

RB - Adrian Peterson - 23

RB - Tony Hunt - 1

Can't go wrong with the #1 player hands down. Have one backup for each bye week.

WR - Andre Johnson - 33

WR - Marques Colston - 27

WR - Santonio Holmes - 14

WR - Ernest Wilford - 3

WR - Jacoby Jones - 2

Spent solid money here on quality WR's. Really need Wilford and Jones to step up a couple weeks.

TE - Owen Daniels - 11

TE - Eric Johnson - 1

Value at TE. No sense overspending.

PK - Rian Lindell - 1

PK - Kris Brown - 1

PK - John Kasay - 1

One of them will score double digits per week.

TD - Arizona Cardinals - 1

TD - Tennessee Titans - 1

TD - Cleveland Browns - 1

TD - Detroit Lions - 1

Same with all the cheap defenses, one should shine each week.

What do you think?

I made it pretty far last year (cut in week 12). To me the key is to find value. With the open rosters this year loading up on multiple players that are "cheap" was the key for me as they allowed me to kill a roster spot while not taking up a ton of money. I mainly targeted players who were starting or had the potential to start (at the time of my submission) and were under $5

QB - Vince Young - 17

QB - Matt Schaub - 10

QB - Jeff Garcia - 8

QB - David Garrard - 2

RB - Laurence Maroney - 38

RB - Brandon Jacobs - 26

RB - Adrian Peterson - 23

RB - Warrick Dunn - 12

RB - Dominic Rhodes - 3

WR - Larry Fitzgerald - 38

WR - Vincent Jackson - 17

WR - Kevin Curtis - 10

WR - Devery Henderson - 9

WR - Ronald Curry - 8

WR - Arnaz Battle - 5

WR - Kevin Walter - 1

TE - Owen Daniels - 11

TE - Eric Johnson - 1

PK - Jeff Wilkins - 3

PK - Rob Bironas - 1

TD - New England Patriots - 6

TD - Tennessee Titans - 1

Total Value: 250

Now its time to cross my fingers and hope for the best...

QB - Peyton Manning - 31

QB - Drew Brees - 21

QB - Daunte Culpepper - 4

QB - Damon Huard - 4

QB heavy due to 6 pts for a passing TD.....both studs will put up huge points, my bye weeks are covered. No worries here.

RB - Willie Parker - 44

RB - Edgerrin James - 29

RB - Adrian Peterson - 23

RB - Sammy Morris - 3

I like Peterson's chances for a solid year with his O-Line experience. FWP - new spread O will allow him more room to run.....I can see 1600 yards this year. Edgerrin - we'll see, lotsa rushes in this scheme.... Sammy Morris as a vulture - also will takeover WHEN Maroney gets hurt.....markit down!

WR - Lee Evans - 29

WR - Isaac Bruce - 15

WR - Ronald Curry - 8

WR - Wes Welker - 3

WR - Patrick Crayton - 3

WR - Antwaan Randle El - 2

WR - Chris Henry - 2

Evans - stud. Bruce - under-rated stud. Curry will be #1 on the raiders this year.....had to have him at such a low price. El should rack-up 100 points across from Moss - solid for a cost of 2. Henry - come week 9 he should be back. That should be a decent kick as he can average 10 pts a week for me. All bye weeks only have one WR out at one time.

TE - Bo Scaife - 9

TE - Alex Smith - 1

Scaife - Young's college pal. Alex Smith - best of the rest at 1 point.

PK - Matt Stover - 3

PK - Jason Hanson - 2

PK - John Kasay - 1

For the cost - kickers can net some nice points here. A couple long field goals can net more points than most WRs in a week. Kasay at 1 point is robbery.

TD - Baltimore Ravens - 7

TD - San Diego Chargers - 5

Defense - decent points for the $, but not as good as if we were playing "points allowed". I would've pent more here if points were figured.

Good contest this year......will be better when I win.

And the winning team...

Most important tip: Get your entry in on time!!!!

:banned: :hey:

WR's I had targeted:

Andre Johnson 33

Marques Colston 27

Galloway 20

Berrian 16

Santonio Holmes 14

Kevin Curtis 10

Devery Henderson 9

Ronald Curry 8

Bobby Wade 5

Wes Welker 3

Amani Toomer 3

Gonzalez IND 3

Patrick Crayton 3

Jacoby Jones 2

(would rely on many inexpensive WR's that exceeded their auction value to fill out the 3 WR starting comm and the flex every week; obviously list would have to be paired down)

RB's:

Wanted to roll with LT-Turner and Jackson-Leonard. Two best backs on the board but with backups that could produce had they gone down. Risky to only go with two starters and a def liability on bye weeks but take the chance - you need magic anyways to win against 15-20K people.

TE:

Gates - that's it

QB:

QBBC of inexpensive QB's; probably would have been three total

DEF, K:

Whatever money was left

I finished 34th last year. This year I'd like to be in the top 10.

QB - Drew Brees - 21

Futile attempt to avoid QB injuries.

RB - Travis Henry - 43

RB - Willis McGahee - 29

RB - Ahman Green - 23

RB - Brandon Jackson - 15

RB - Vernand Morency - 15

WR - Kevin Curtis - 10

WR - Devery Henderson - 9

WR - Ronald Curry - 8

WR - Wes Welker - 3

WR - Bobby Engram - 3

WR - Jacoby Jones - 2

I put my money into RB's and took chances with WR's. It's harder to get lucky with RB's.

TE - Chris Cooley - 22

TE - Jason Witten - 19

TE - Donald Lee - 1

The point and a half and flex rules led me to putting decent money into TE's.

PK - Jason Hanson - 2

PK - Ryan Longwell - 1

Almost went with just one kicker but thought better of it.

TD - San Francisco 49ers - 2

I will not have a D one week. Really wanted to have the Packers instead but needed the dollar to keep Witten over LJ Smith.

Total value: 250

I'll be out soon I'm sure but it was an enjoyable exercise to work on this team. I like the set-up of the FBG contest and it is a big bonus for being a subscription holder.

My take on the strategy of this contest:

At QB, Garrard was the gimmee. At $2 he really should be on everyone's roster. He is a running QB too which makes him even more attractive as he could have some big scoring weeks if he runs in a score.

The real question at QB was whether to go with three QBs or two? Drew Brees looked like the best value (besides Garrard), but he shared the same bye week as Garrard. So if you added Brees, you had to also add another QB.

For three QBs, I think the play was Brees ($21), Garrrard ($2) and Schaub ($10).

For two QBs, I think the play was Manning ($31) and Garrard ($2). Although the three QB plan wil likely oustcore the 2 QB plan by a little bit, I sided with the 2 QB plan because I think the roster spot is very valuable in this format.

At RB, I think the winning strategy was to get quality players and go with flier depth (that could hit big). If you played it right you could land LT or two big backs. Any of those plays are liklely acceptable as long as you added cheap fliers behind the two back approach.

Guys like Dominic Rhodes ($3), Tony Hunt ($1), Brian Leonard ($3), Adrian Peterson, Chi ($4), Anthony Thomas ($4) could all work out.

The value guys were: Brandon Jacobs ($26), Adrian Peterson ($23), Reggie Bush ($45) in my opinion. Even Tomlinson was a semi-value play as it was only 28% of the total cap (whereas LT goes for about 40% of cap in most auctions).

I think it's key to use at most 5 spots on RBs. This allows you to go for the quantity over quality approach at WR.

At TE, Eric Johnson was the gimmee. He should have been on every roster in my opinion. This contest gives 1.5 ppr to the TE, so I actually think this position is quite important. There are only a handful of playmaker TEs so I think it's critical you get one. I opted for Gates, but could see Watson, Witten, Winslow, Vernon Davis all being the right play if they end up as the top TE. Bo Scaife at $9 and Owen Daniels at $11 were good value plays.

At WR, there were a lot of players at $5 and below that could be huge. I think the winning roster will have a lot of these players on his team. Wes Welker ($3), Demetrius Williams ($3), The Minnesota starting WRs (Williamson at 4 and Wade at 5), Jacoby Jones at $2, Roddy White at $3 Arnaz Battle at $5 all could yield great production at bargain basement prices.

Other bargains were Bernard Berrian at $16, Santonio Holmes at $14, Lee Evans at $29, Isaac Bruce at $15. I believe the winning startegy was to maximize the number of value WRs you had on your squad. I anchored my team with Evans and Holmes and then added the $2-$5 talent.

If you did the rest of the contest right, you likely had little to spend at defense or kicker. Chase's DBBC selections of Minnesota/Tennessee cost $4 and was the direction I went. Nick Folk was a steal at $1. I think two kickers was the right approach in all cases. Three defenses could work though because of the variability of the position.

QB - Peyton Manning - 31

QB - David Garrard - 2

QBs solid with only two roster spots used. Mr. Dodds preferred. There are a lot of folks with this plan.

RB - Reggie Bush - 45

RB - Ahman Green - 23

RB - LaMont Jordan - 19

RB - DeShaun Foster - 13

RB - Tony Hunt - 1

RBs - Five taken and I see the possibility of nice scores from four. Mr. Hunt will be good for some TDs and could be studly if Westbrook gets hurt.

WR - Lee Evans - 29

WR - Marques Colston - 27

WR - Kevin Curtis - 10

WR - Devery Henderson - 9

WR - Demetrius Williams - 3

WR - Amani Toomer - 3

WR - Patrick Crayton - 3

WR - Jacoby Jones - 2

WRs - Eight selected and at least six are big play guys capable of big weeks which are awesome in the best ball format.

TE - Owen Daniels - 11

TE - Daniel Graham - 7

TE - Eric Johnson - 1

TEs - Went with three relative bargain guys, should get decent scores all weeks.

PK - Mike Nugent - 2

PK - John Kasay - 1

Two relatively cheap kickers, really like Nugent this year.

TD - San Diego Chargers - 5

TD - Dallas Cowboys - 3

Defenses - Two with nice sack potential hope for some turnovers and TDs.

QB - Donovan McNabb - 24

QB - Matt Schaub - 10

Both highly underated

RB - Steven Jackson - 60

RB - Adrian Peterson - 23

RB - Brandon Jackson - 15

RB - DeShaun Foster - 13

RB - Brian Leonard - 3

Brandon J - Been hyping him, gotta take em. Lenard to backup Jackson. Probably stronger later than earlier

WR - Lee Evans - 29

WR - Donte Stallworth - 14

WR - Santonio Holmes - 14

WR - Arnaz Battle - 5

WR - Bobby Wade - 5

WR - Wes Welker - 3

WR - Bobby Engram - 3

WR - Jacoby Jones - 2

WR - Shaun McDonald - 1

Lots of WRs

TE - Bo Scaife - 9

TE - Greg Olsen - 7

Both should see a lot of targets. Olsen should get stronger as the season goes along

PK - Jeff Wilkins - 3

PK - Kris Brown - 1

Had 2 points left so I put it toward Wilkins

TD - Dallas Cowboys - 3

TD - Green Bay Packers - 3

Both should harass the QB all year long.

My team with bonus comments:

QB - Drew Brees - 21

QB - Rex Grossman - 13

QB - David Garrard - 2

I think Brees is a steal at that price.

RB - Laurence Maroney - 38

RB - Deuce McAllister - 23

RB - LaMont Jordan - 19

RB - Ladell Betts - 14

RB - Sammy Morris - 3

I love the production I will get from Betts and Deuce. I think Jordan has good upside at that price.

WR - T.J. Houshmandzadeh - 34

WR - Isaac Bruce - 15

WR - Santonio Holmes - 14

WR - Eric Moulds - 5

WR - Demetrius Williams - 3

WR - Wes Welker - 3

WR - Chris Henry - 2

I think Housh is in for a big season. Bruce is always underrated. Holmes represents solid value at 14. Williams and Welker will probably give me a couple of weeks each with big stats.

TE - Jason Witten - 19

TE - Bo Scaife - 9

TE - Eric Johnson - 1

Witten is one of the most underrated TEs in the league. In Scaife, I have a solid TE on a team without a lot of WR targets.

PK - Jeff Wilkins - 3

PK - Josh Brown - 2

Jeff Wilkins always seems to produce good seasons.

TD - Pittsburgh Steelers - 4

TD - Oakland Raiders - 3

Probably spent too much on defense, but I expect good things from these teams on certain weeks.

I think the money for 3 QB's is the way I did it,P Manning 31B Quinn 3D Garrard 2I think Quinn will be starting soon enough and will give me a 3rd QB for cheap, FYI I had picked D Garrard for the contest since the day it opened thinking he'd be the starter.

Interesting...think I actually hit "the Dodds approach" pretty close other than picking different value plays...

QB - Drew Brees - 21

QB - Joey Harrington - 6

QB - Daunte Culpepper - 4

Looked at Garrard; considered pairing him with Brady who I think could be huge this year. Harrington is a cheap second in this format and should have his days; Culpepper was the one I wanted for a wild card.

RB - LaDainian Tomlinson - 70

RB - Ladell Betts - 14

RB - DeShaun Foster - 13

RB - Warrick Dunn - 12

RB - Michael Pittman - 8

RB - Anthony Thomas - 4

Every other year I've gone with the committee approach with fair-to-good results; this year I was intent on building this team around LT, a top flight QB (and...*). Then Deshaun in the new system, Betts with Portis hobbled, Dunn when he came back, Pittman for rcpts, AT for a flier.

WR - Darrell Jackson - 15

WR - Santonio Holmes - 14

WR - Ronald Curry - 8

WR - Drew Bennett - 6

WR - Wes Welker - 3

WR - Patrick Crayton - 3

WR - Antwaan Randle El - 2

WR's is always where the hardest decisions are made, imo. You hope with enough of them that they'll complement each other, and I went for those I felt were bargains with opportunities to perform above the costs.

TE - Antonio Gates - 35

TE - Eric Johnson - 1

(*...and) The third in my triumvirate. Seems I always target Gates. EJ is definitely potential value at $1.

PK - Josh Brown - 2

PK - Mike Nugent - 2

TD - Miami Dolphins - 4

TD - Carolina Panthers - 3

For PK/TD I went straight off rankings/cost comparisons, while forgoing the top dogs at each position.

Now it's just sitting back and seeing how it all shakes out!

Here's the winning squad.

Thanks, David.

QB - Drew Brees – 21

QB - Matt Leinart - 14

QB - David Garrard - 2

Might've overspent a little here, but Brees seemed like value and the only QB I wanted to take if I didn't go with the Manning option or the billion QB one. I think the latter may of been the best option overall, but the bottom of the barrel QB's are cheap for a reason...

RB - LaDainian Tomlinson - 70

RB - Shaun Alexander – 41

RB - Cadillac Williams - 21

RB - Sammy Morris - 3

LT + SA for not even half the budget, if SA has one more good year in him then I shouldn't even need to rely on Caddy much. Let's go for 45+ TD's. Caddy seemed like the value play everyone zoomed in on at running back and I think he rebounds a bit from a disappointing last season. Sammy Morris could have some weeks where he just blows up if he ends up as the main goalline back for a nicked up Maroney.

WR – Isaac Bruce - 15

WR - Santonio Holmes - 14

WR - Kevin Curtis – 10

WR - Marty Booker - 5

WR - Arnaz Battle - 5

WR - Wes Welker - 3

WR - Demetrius Williams - 3

WR - Jacoby Jones – 2

Totally missed Crayton and ignored the Minny wideouts. go me. Happy to see I'm on the same page as far as value WR's went, although going for TO was my first thought simply because he could put up some significant points week to week. After that I dropped down to Evans, but for Evans cost I rather just have Holmes, Curtis and Battle.

TE - Owen Daniels – 11

TE - Eric Johnson – 1

I was skeptical about Daniels, but my mind has been changing over the past month so I figure I'm on the bandwagon now. I really think Gates + Johnson was the play here, but it's a significant investment and like many the LT + Gates bye week is a bit scary. Decided to go with a cheap value play.

PK - Neil Rackers - 2

PK - Ryan Longwell - 1

PK - Rob Bironas - 1

Kickers. One of them kicks quite far. Seems to work.

DEF – Minnesota Vikings - 3

DEF- Washington Redskins - 2

Meh, two defense, the byes don't match and I rather have the 3rd K than D.

I hope you're right. Other than Ben/CPep instead of Brees/backup, you pretty well described my team.

There must have been atleast 50 different versions of this team. I did build a database query and use spreadsheets.

QB - Jake Delhomme - 13

QB - Jeff Garcia - 8

QB - David Garrard - 2

Many iterations had me going with Brees, but when Garrard became available at $2, I saw he and Brees had the same bye. So I took the $21 I was gonna spend on Brees and took Delhomme and Garcia. Both have good QB SOS, with Delhomme having easy start of the season. At least I have some depth...but do I have quality?

RB - Deuce McAllister - 23

RB - Cadillac Williams - 21

RB - LaMont Jordan - 19

RB - DeShaun Foster - 13

RB - T.J. Duckett - 2

I think in a 0.5 ppr rb scoring, Caddy and Lamont should each approach 3-4 rec. per game. I would have loved to shell out $44 for Reggie Bush and had him on earlier teams, but I wanted to bank money for WR's and TE's late on. So most of these are high on potential. With Deuce, I see him as being a steady performer of 12-15 points per week and a guy who can produce big should something happen to Reggie. Deshaun Foster showed too much value at $13...I hope he can hold off Denagelo Williams all year. An earlier iteration of this team had me cuffing Jordan and Rhodes, but when I changed my QB, the 22 man roster and salary cap forced me to drop Rhodes and stash Duckett for TD vultures.

WR - T.J. Houshmandzadeh - 34

WR - Lee Evans - 29

WR - Isaac Bruce - 15

WR - Ronald Curry - 8

WR - Jacoby Jones - 2

WR - Dennis Northcutt - 1

WR - Sinorice Moss - 1

WR - Kevin Walter - 1

I wanted at least two borderline WR1's and feel I have that with Housh and Lee Evans. I think a lot of contestants have them. The biggest struggle I had was whether or not to go with Santonio Holmes for 14 or Ike Bruce for $15. I have them both at the 180 points area. I went with the more congealed offense (New Steelers coaching staff v. Rams pretty much settled one) and the possibility that if Holt loses time with his knee, Bruce may get more targets. There was no way I could have both. Ronald Curry if he can stay healthy can be a top flight WR....though the QB issue in Oakland could be concerning. I think he will shine if Culpepper gets the nod. I like the idea of having Jacoby Jones at $2. I am hopeful he will be this year's Colston.

TE - Antonio Gates - 35

TE - Jason Witten - 19

At 1.5 ppr, I was not going to pass on Gates. At 1.5 ppr, I was hell bent on trying to fit in Winslow. My thoughts are at 1.5 ppr for te, the TE could be the flex at a great value. My hope is that Witten can return to the 2004 form when he had 87 receptions.

PK - Rob Bironas - 1

PK - John Kasay - 1

I have Kasay projecting for 130 points....and Bironas kicking the long ones. Both show great value at $1.00

TD - Arizona Cardinals - 1

TD - Tennessee Titans - 1

I had the Vikings instead of the Cards early on, but decided I needed that $2 extra bucks to fill out the roster and get to 22 players.

Total value: 250

I have a lot of high hopes on this team. we'll see if I overvalued the role that a good TE plays. I really wanted to find a way to get Drew Brees but could not find a way to do it without wreaking havoc in other areas. The contest makers did a good job, as I was always just a dollar short or needing to add one more player.

Don't recall winning roster from 06 but think balance outweighs stud this year considering Wks 6 and 8 have six teams on bye - Made approx 20 changes looking for ways to limit bye week exposure

Surprised not to see much Bulger love this year - Best QB SOS

Love Leinarts potential this year - Think 3800/25 is near-lock

Went for balance at RB - All but A Peterson should put up decent numbers each week - Think L Wash is this yr's MJD (lite)

WR are decent - Should get production from 3 ea week - Berrian could be BO - Stallworth/Welker catch at least 50% from Brady - Think Curts and Curry could be Top 25/20

I struggled with whether to go bigger on TE but settled on better depth at QB/RB/WR although think H Miller can be Top 5-7 this yr

Kicker - Spin the 2/1 pt wheel

Went with Bigger D strategy this year - Think its overlooked by most - SD at 5 was no-brainer

Good Luck to all

I figure you can start 3 RB a week with the flex. 3 of the 7 WR's should do something. Week 5 is rough with the bye weeks. I really wanted Maroney for the price, but I was scared of the week 10 bye. Rudi is mostly there for consistancy and the finishing schedule (if I make it that far) of StL, SF, Clev. We'll see.

Should we be surprised that so many of us used the same strategy, with some individual offshoots?

Brees may be the best value QB if you can't afford PManning -- he's certainly consistent. Grossman is the opposite -- he'll be way up and down over the course of the year. Perhaps a good counterpart to Brees. And Garard is a value at $2.

Bush in PPR is a stud, and FWP should get more goal line carries this year. Green to back them up and Kevin Jones for the second half of the year (especially in PPR). And Greg Jones, because he may get some goal line carries and was only $1.

Many of us appear to have gone for quantity at WR -- picking "sleepers." Hopefully mine are a good group -- and better than most!

Two consistent PKs, and the two top TDs should give me points every week from those positions.

I'm happy with my team , but we'll see how it goes.

Good luck to everyone in the contest!

The value guys were: Brandon Jacobs ($26), Adrian Peterson ($23), Reggie Bush ($45) in my opinion. Even Tomlinson was a semi-value play as it was only 28% of the total cap (whereas LT goes for about 40% of cap in most auctions).I think it's key to use at most 5 spots on RBs. This allows you to go for the quantity over quality approach at WR.At TE, Eric Johnson was the gimmee. Wes Welker ($3), Demetrius Williams ($3), The Minnesota starting WRs (Williamson at 4 and Wade at 5), Jacoby Jones at $2, Roddy White at $3 Arnaz Battle at $5 all could yield great production at bargain basement prices.Other bargains were Bernard Berrian at $16, Santonio Holmes at $14, Lee Evans at $29, Isaac Bruce at $15.
Hey David, Nice write up. I think the main difference between my roster and yours is that I don't think Garrard is any good and I think Johnson will be lucky to make it through the year. If you eliminate those two "biggest group think" values, IMHO, and then grab some other good values, you have a chance to set yourself apart a little bit while still having some popular value picks. Other than that, I like the way you think. I went Brees, Schaub, Quinn at QB. Went with SJax, Leonard and Hunt among others at RB. Had Welker and JJones as great value at WR and went with a Daniels/Scaife combo at TE. I really like these two in this because both have a good chance to be the #2 receiving threat on their team, behind Johnson and Jones respectively. Thanks for showing us your team and strategy.

This is the winner here guys.

QB - Jon Kitna - 20

QB - Vince Young - 17

QB - Daunte Culpepper - 4

My thinking at QB was get 3 the whole time. I went with Kitna cause of the pass-happy offense, Young as the dual-threat guy and Culpepper as the cheap starter who could have a monster year.

RB - Willie Parker - 44

RB - Willis McGahee - 29

RB - Brian Leonard - 3

RB - Sammy Morris - 3

RB - Lorenzo Booker - 3

At RB, I originally planned on one stud RB, but quickly decided I needed at least two. Parker was my #1 all along with the added threat of catching the ball. McGahee was the best option for me with a different bye week, plus he has proven he can have big years. Leonard is the requisite cheap TD vulture. Morris and Booker are the 3rd-down back/TD vulture fill-ins who could become big with injury/opportunity.

WR - T.J. Houshmandzadeh - 34

WR - Mark Clayton - 25

WR - Santonio Holmes - 14

WR - Ronald Curry - 8

WR - Wes Welker - 3

WR - Anthony Gonzalez - 3

WR - Patrick Crayton - 3

With PPR scoring, I decided to get more WRs than most. I went for #2's that should perform like #1's (T.J., Clayton, and Holmes) and #3's that should perform like #2's (Curry, Welker, Gonzalez, Crayton). All-in-all, I think my WR's are going to carry me a long ways or get me out early.

TE - Jason Witten - 19

TE - Bo Scaife - 9

TE - Eric Johnson - 1

As Dodds mentioned earlier, 1.5 for a TE PPR made them pretty valuable. I decided on 3 to maximize my chances of having a big week, not to mention the lack of a quality TE knocked me out last year! I went with a proven stud in Witten and a likely stud in Johnson. Scaife was a flyer based on the preseason and the latter part of last year.

PK - Ryan Longwell - 1

PK - Nick Folk - 1

Kickers are kickers, so I decided to spend as little as possible here. Folk is great value, IMO, and Longwell could be in for a decent year playing so many games indoors.

TD - Oakland Raiders - 3

TD - Carolina Panthers - 3

Oakland's defense is the only reason they won 3 games last year and I've heard good things about them this year. People forget how good Carolina was supposed to be last year, and I think the defense moves back into the top tier this year.

I'm pretty happy with my team...should put up points every week and I should be in the running all year if everyone can stay healthy.

GOOD LUCK ALL!

QB - Donovan McNabb - 24

QB - Ben Roethlisberger - 18

QB - Joey Harrington - 6

QB - David Garrard - 2

I think McNabb is the top QB this year. Big Ben will help on down weeks, plus insurance for McNabb. Joey and Garrard are bye week helpers.

RB - Reggie Bush - 45

RB - Fred Taylor - 17

RB - Chester Taylor - 16

RB - Warrick Dunn - 12

Reggie will get more TD's this year as he becomes a better runner inside the tackles. Fred Taylor is so rediculously undervalued this year it's unbelieveable. Same for Chester and Dunn, they catch passes and I'm not sold on the young guys that are supposedly ahead of them.

WR - T.J. Houshmandzadeh - 34

WR - Lee Evans - 29

WR - Devery Henderson - 9

WR - Demetrius Williams - 3

WR - Wes Welker - 3

WR - Amani Toomer - 3

TJ and Evans are my studs. Henderson and Williams are my big week guys. Welker and Toomer are my ppr and undervalued guys.

TE - Bo Scaife - 9

TE - Daniel Graham - 7

Seeing Scaife on a lot of teams. Graham should get plenty of oppurtunity in Denvers system.

PK - Mike Nugent - 2

PK - Justin Medlock - 1

PK - John Kasay - 1

Just tried to cover bye weeks and not limit myself to two options.

TD - Philadelphia Eagles - 3

TD - Green Bay Packers - 3

TD - Dallas Cowboys - 3

My three most under valued defenses. Should get solid production from one each week!

Just curious as to who won this last year, and what kind of lineup he/she had, anyone know?

Looks like I'm the only one who took Westbrook so far. C'mon Westy!
Now you've got the right idea...I think the idea that there's one magical formula is flavved. To stand out from thousands of entries you need to have a relatively unique combination of players...at least that will increase your odds of winning. Granted, your unique set of players need to score, but you do increase you are odds with a more unique lineup.

that was one of the reasons I avoided LT and Brees. I knew they would be on A LOT of rosters....

QB - Marc Bulger - 23

QB - Ben Roethlisberger - 18

QB - David Garrard - 2

QBs - Stud, Potential stud, and a cheap starter for backup

RB - Willie Parker - 44

RB - Brandon Jacobs - 26

RB - Jamal Lewis - 22

RB - DeShaun Foster - 13

RBs - 1 sure stud and 3 solid starters

WR - Lee Evans - 29

WR - Marques Colston - 27

WR - Santonio Holmes - 14

WR - Dwayne Bowe - 4

WR - Wes Welker - 3

WR - Patrick Crayton - 3

WR - Jacoby Jones - 2

WRs - 2 upper tier and LOTS of potential

TE - Owen Daniels - 11

TE - Donald Lee - 1

TE - Eric Johnson - 1

TEs - My weak point, but they all have at least a little bit of upside

PK - John Kasay - 1

PK - Nick Folk - 1

PK - DAL kicker should be decent

TD - Dallas Cowboys - 3

TD - Arizona Cardinals - 1

TD - Tennessee Titans - 1

TD - I am looking for a good year for DAL defense, and hope the other 2 just sprinkle in some big plays when needed

Good luck everybody :lmao:

PK - Rob Bironas - 1

PK - John Kasay - 1

TD - Minnesota Vikings - 3

TD - New Orleans Saints - 3

TD - Green Bay Packers - 3

Total value: 250

After seeing others rosters I think I would probably redo my RBs and take Peterson/Rhodes instead of Williams/Lewis and put the money saved towards upgrading my TEs. Was feeling pretty good about my team until I saw the emphasis put into the TE position by others.

I really enjoyed this format though where I can just set my team and forget it. Does anybody know of other contests with the same type of format?

:goodposting: , it's not as simply as picking the optimal starting lineup IMHO...I know gaming theory will tell you the same, though it's been a while since since I've read up on that topic.
