FWP in danger of missing Week 10 game

Willie Parker (shoulder) missed practice for a second consecutive day Thursday and is reportedly in danger of missing Week 10.

It's unclear when Parker got hurt; ESPN says it happened Monday night so they must have better eyes than everyone else. There was never a write-up on their website about the shoulder or a report from their writers. Either way, if Parker doesn't practice Friday, he will likely sit out against the Colts. That would give Mewelde Moore another start. Grab Moore in all leagues. Nov. 6 - 3:39 pm et

I am a little upset to read about this now. The Thursday game really screwed me here a bit because our weekly re-draft was last night. I had to drop Moore yesterday to make room for Torain and even though I'd still have to trade either Moore or Torain today I could probably get something good back for them. Funny thing is that I offered Moore to the guy who had Willie Parker at a real bargain last night and he laughed at me. Instead the guy kept Jonathan Stewart over Moore and now Stewart is looking hurt as well. I bet he aint laughing now.

It doesn't sound like the injury is really serious(shoulder) and could be a 1 or 2 week type of thing but FWP just can't seem to stay healthy this year at all.

One game after returning from a knee injury, Pro Bowl running back Willie Parker did not practice for the second day in a row because of a shoulder injury and might not play against the Indianapolis Colts.

Parker, who missed four games with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee, had 70 yards on 21 carries against the Washington Redskins. It is not known when or how he was injured in the game.

I know the hit they are talking about. Moore came in the whole next series but Willie finished the game. I would be suprised if Willie did not play.

I think the Steelers Kept Ben, Hines Ward, & Willie out today. Hopefully it is just because of the Monday night game and they are resting some banged up Key players. Tomorrows practice will be a big indication of whether it's serious.

YES!!! Live on, Mewelde. Live on! I just need ya for a week or two until Bush returns, baby. Take your time, fast Willie. No pun intended, brah.

For what it is worth Mike Logan (ex-Steeler, currently on ESPN-Pittsburgh radio) was saying that FWP was going to play this week.

Not good that you might have lost Torain tonight, too. Don't worry, you have company in that dept.

Psyched to have scooped Moore up in a league where a knee-jerk owner dropped him after last week, but I am not convinced Parker is missing time until after practice tomorrow.

That said, shoulder injuries are not to be trifled with when it comes to RBs - fumbles increase as arm strength decreases due to injury. Emmitt Smith aside, RBs shouldn't be out there if their shoulders aren't at least 80-85%.

Yeah. Luckily I still have Jacobs and Westbrook

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Willie Parker will miss Sunday's game against the Colts with an injured shoulder.

Parker suffered the injury last Monday against the Redskins, but the shoulder didn't affect him until the next morning. FWP will be replaced by Mewelde Moore this week, but he's only expected to miss one game. As Parker has been unable to hold up physically, owners will want to keep Moore rostered for the remainder of the season. | 11/7/2008 12:45:00 AM

All the rankings had FWP in the top ten for this week. It seems Moore was running better than Parker anyways, so does this make Moore a must start this week?

You gotta think Pitt will look to keep the game on the ground, with Ben hurting like he is.

Son of a.........

This is why I wanted Parker to sit last week...he is my only option this week without making a move and would have had a nice matchup.

Because you predicted injury to a completely different part of his body?

Unless your other RBs are some combination of Tomlinson, Peterson and/or Westbrook, heck yes he's a must start.
Is Moore a better start than Thomas Jones vs STL or MJD at DET?

Moore is the better start. I have both. Leon Washington vultures way too many touches from Jones. MJD's offensive line is decimated. Colts are giving up tons of yardage on the ground. Moore is the better play.

What? Vultures to many TDs? TJ has 6 TDs in 8 games and is on pace for his first double digit TD production this year.

Because I wanted to make sure he was healthy for this week when I needed him.I don't care if its his knee...his toe...his shoulder.Had he sat last week, there was a better chance of him being useful to me this week.(that and I really wanted to play Moore in a different league last week but sat him).

Not sure.Right now Ive got DeAngelo @ Oak and Turner vs NO in ahead of him.

Parker did not practice again today (Friday) so it does look like he'll miss this week's game though he still has no been officially ruled out.

Wow. Talk about mixed feelings. 1) With Orton and Ben banged up in the same week I ended up cutting Mewelde this week to get Sage. With Bush hurt and Benson on a bye, I'm forced to start Chester Taylor to go along with Westbrook. Major bummer - Moore could be huge this week. 2) I play the FWP owner! He also has Portis on a bye so he's screwed. We're both 8-1 in our divisions, big implications in bye week, etc. So, all being equal, it still works out for me.

What if they're MJD, Turner, and Dwill? :lmao:
DWill is a nice start. I'm actually mulling over playing Moore ahead of Gore. Before you think I'm off my rocker, the Cards have become quite the stout run D. Plus, with the way they jump on teams early (see St. Louis, Carolina), SFO may be forced to go downfiled earlier than they would like.

He's "OUT" now-http://www.post-gazette.com:80/pg/08312/926117-66.stm

Willie Parker's return to the starting lineup didn't last very long.

After finally returning from a four-game absence to play in Monday night's victory against the Washington Redskins, the two-time Pro Bowl running back has a new injury -- an ailing shoulder -- and will not play against the Indianapolis Colts.

Before last weekend, I had offered a guy in my PPR league Moore & Walter/Cotchery for Slaton and he turned me down. I wonder, now, if I should just keep Moore at this point since he has produced quite well when FWP has been shelved....

Good news for me, needing some bench help w/ MBIII on a bye. Sorry FWP owners. I'm sure it's been a rough season.

I don't get why PIT would show their hand this early in the week IF the news is true and Parker is out. Just makes it easier to gameplan for IND @ this point, though I guess they (Moore and FWP) are similar players to some extent.

LOL, I've tried to trade Moore to Couch Potato in HyperActive 1 many times and he keeps refusing. Stubborn I guess :) It's not like I was asking for the moon either. The point to that was that owners have been lucky to get so many starts out of Moore this season. Next year it will be Mendenhall

I own Moore and only time I played him was when I knew for sure FWP was out..in 2nd place in my league and no doubt playing him against the Colts!
