Genrepalooza 3: Playlists are done, phwew (1 Viewer)

The story takes place around 2001. I was between 19 or 20 which I know for sure because the story takes place in Windsor, Ontario. For those that don’t know, Windsor is just a few minutes South of Detroit and is easily accessible via bridge or tunnel. Now I know I had to have been in that age range because the drinking and gambling age in Windsor is 19 so it serves as a haven for poorly behaved young Michiganders.
In Ontario, we aren't content with 19 and cross into Quebec where the age is 18. Main place being Ottawa/Gatineau, which are the same city just different sides of the river.

Also in Ontario when we go to events in Detroit, we stay at hotels in Windsor and take the bus over and back  :oldunsure:

Round 2 categories are:  Female and Acoustic/Folk/Folktronica/Chillwave/Dream Pop/Kermit/Beaker (plus home)

Round 3 categories roll

RPG Library Secure Dice generated the following rolls for .

2d12, rolled once.

Roll set 1
Die rolls: 1, 12
Roll subtotal: 13
Roll total: 13
Rock & Old Fart  :headbang:

I don't think I'm clear on when categories are eliminated/how many times we can go back to the same well but I'm 100% sure that whenever it ends I'm going to keep creating categories and carry on drafting.

full disclosure:  I mistakenly rolled 7 sets of dice in my initial attempt at round 3.

The first set came up 9,3 which would have repeated the same categories as round 1.  But it's thrown out because of the misroll.

I think we've had more fake picks than real ones.  Definitely tonight but probably overall as well.

By the way, it's still officially a minimum of two times through per category.  So everyone will get at least one more shot at R&B and None of the Above.

No maximum times unless Trip Hop comes up five times in a row.

Wondering if I can change my home to rap/hip hop, otherwise my picks are going to be very similar to my punk draft, where I picked a lot of aughts and teens bands. It'll likely be redundant, though the same people aren't necessarily participating. But I've been itching to do rap/hip hop and I think I can make it work. What say the commish?

Don’t tell us how the sausage is made, just feed it to us

I don't see why you couldn't change it. What would it possibly affect?

It's a little long, but going a similar route as Mrs R and tapping into the movie soundtrack pool for Rd.1  Loved this movie and played the soundtrack a bit, especially this song...

R1:   Genre:  None of the Above

         Song:  Caravan

Are you on the turn? I have lost track of what's going on here (and I wasn't even drinking last night).

The only time in my life I've ever gotten actually blackout drunk was in Niagara Falls, Ontario on my 19th birthday.  I vaguely remember bar-hopping and running into some people we knew.  Apparently we went to the casino and at one point I fell and ripped a giant hole in the front of my jeans.  I think we walked the Rainbow Bridge that night, I have no idea how I was able to coherently manage to get through US customs back into the US.

I had a 2-day hangover, spent the entire next day laying on the couch in my dorm, puking and watching the NFL Draft, where the Bills picked Donte Whitner and then traded up to pick ####### John McCargo.  I'm not sure if I was sick from the alcohol or the awful draft picks.  I cancelled a date with the girl I had been "hanging out with", she was pissed.  We're married now.

Like still do this now? If so, that's a big mistake IMO

JHC, that may be the best drum solo I've ever heard.

Instantly added to my Apple Music library.

Not hungover but happy to have the day off, I would have been feeling it if I had to get up at 6 this AM.
I normally wake up at 5:50 for work, but last night passed out on the recliner, evidently transferred to the couch sometime in the morning, and forgot to turn on the alarm on my phone so I woke up at 7:10.   Oof.

Basically why I wouldn't mind changing my home category, if that's kosher, 'cause I've picked a #### ton of post-2000 rock in past drafts, but don't want to lean into my #standards. I could change my first pick, if needed, since it was from my home category.

My brother from another mother! The early- to mid-'90s was the golden age of dance music and I will fight anyone who disagrees.

C'mon 'n' Get My Love

Come Baby Come

Rhythm is a Dancer

and my personal forgotten fave from the era ... The Hitman
The afternoon telenovela running at the moment down here is '90s-themed, and this is the opening.

Would've totally joined in on the gin drafting party last night. :lmao:

The spreadsheet is missing home categories for NV, Tasker and KarmaPolice.  They're probably in the thread somewhere but it would be easier if they just repost.

You can change your home category until you use it for a pick.  Abrantes gets an exception because the rules translated poorly to Portuguese.  He needs a round 1 repick and a new home.  That Battles song is thrown back into the pond.

I let Mr. Ected's somewhat dubious Everlong pick slide yesterday because I'd already done my daily allotment of commissioneering but I'm going to be a stickler from here on out.

Don't test me.

Karma took female.

BTW, this Genrepalooza home category thing is shaping up like another useless 21st century invention, the musical equivalent of the Juicero.  Faced with the choice of drafting from a home category or two rolled categories, I'm much more inclined to pick a song from the genres that won't return for a while.

Yeah, I wasn't actually going to pick one.

Hopefully this one one won't have issues like my first...

2.06 - Melissa Etheridge - Hold On, I'm Coming

This is from an album of blues tracks (Memphis Rock and Soul) released in 2016. It could fit in covers, too!

Hopefully her dream-team Chiefs will have as good a season, but make it better in playoffs next year!
