Genrepalooza 3: Playlists are done, phwew (1 Viewer)

Yeah it’s for the best they have cleaned up the game
It really is. The guy I mentioned before, Scott Stevens? His highlights are really hard for me to watch as I get older. I just think of the damage done to the recipients' brains and I absolutely cringe. I'm in total agreement that cleaning up helmet to helmet and head hits was completely necessary in both sports. Anything less is barbaric to me these days.

I do r  Stevens, he was one of the best defenseman to ever play.

I'll admit going through Apple Music to being surprised these guys are still putting out albums. I haven't sought out anything from them in about a dozen years, not that I was ever much of a metalhead to begin with. But back in the day their first 2-3 albums were pretty high on my "workout" / "keep myself awake driving back from my now-wife's place at 2AM" rotation.

Genre: Metal

4.16 - Saliva - "Superstar" (2001)

@Mr. Irrelevantfor the fourth and fifth on the turn, then back to moi.

🎶 Gonna walk right up to him. Give him a great big kiss. Moi! 🎶
Clock is off for the evening.  I thought the pace was fine today--one round a day is a good benchmark.

Mrs. Eephus is out seeing Ministry so I should be able to update playlists tonight.  I listened to the Female mix last night while dogwalking

:headbang:   Don't think I've heard that one before.  I was kind of let down by the guitar solo but I'm a nerd.

Fast & Furious was much smaller then.

Sorry, folks. Just got back from a birthday dinner and didn't have my phone.

Round 5.xx

Genre - Rap/Hip Hop (Home)

Song - Grindin'

Artist - Clipse

Probably the biggest hit off of what I felt was the best rap album of the aughts. Pusha T and Malice with Neptunes production.

Pretty surprised I can't find any record of any of us drafting this song or even band before (the band was taken in a timdraft once but they don't count)..

5.04 - Hounds of Love - Futureheads (cover songs)

@Ilov80s up.
Almost 100% certain I've drafted them before ("Meantime" and/or this one), maybe in the 2000s mixtape draft, but some threads are gone for good, I think. Love love love this album and this cover in particular. Soundtracked many a walk (on my Discman) on the way to class.

I will be out for a bit this morning, so skip me if I come up.

ETA: Nevermind. I'm back!

Off-topic, but it's the 13th anniversary of the most memorable sports moment I've ever witnessed live.

Some say Umberger still doesn't know where he is.
Got real nostalgic about the good ol Sabres last night.

This Sabres team was just so improbable.  Picked last pretty much universally by all publications coming out of the lockout, and here you are, Game 1 of the playoffs, in OT against your oldest foe, your most hated playoff rival where you have years and years of back-and-forth history, and then that hit happens.  Briere scores the winner in 2OT.  Take down Philly, and it's off to Ottawa to play the big, bad 1-seed Sens.  Game 1, the Sabres come from behind 5 separate times in a ridiculous 7-6 win that features the most frantic final 2 minutes of regulation + 30 seconds of OT ever.  Then Game 5, you get a legendary Rick Jeanneret call when Jason Pominville scores a shorthanded OT winner in Ottawa to send the Sabres to the conference finals.  Finals went to Game 7, loss, and then the Sabres won the President's Trophy the next season with another conference finals trip.  They basically haven't been good since.

5.08 Iron & WineUpward Over the Mountain (Acoustic/Folk; 2002)

Was actually a bit undecided on whether to take advantage of the Covers category, particularly since my top pick there is one of very few I feel could get sniped, but bottom line is that this one is dearer to me. Loved it back around the time it was released, listened to it over and over, put it on mixtapes, yadda yadda, and after going years without stopping to hear it, I was trying to figure out which I&W song I'd take for this draft, put this on and got choked up as I sang along, just like back then. Love Sam Beam's voice. No trickery to it.

@Man of Constant Sorrow yer up

Therefore, he asked me to post this for him:
