Well if you go back and look I came in and posted what I thought about what Mcnabb did with the phone on the sidelines and then I start getting attacked about dallas what a surprise.

I'm a Jets fan who was raised in a "Giants household" and lives 15 minutes from Giants Stadium. The Giants are my 2nd favorite team and I root for them just as hard as my Giants fan friends and family when the Jets are eliminated and the Giants are playing.
So in turn, I was rooting for the Giants, I was pissed that they played terrible and were about to lose, and still thought that was a HILARIOUS move by McNabb that made me smile.

I think a fan of a team that has Romo as their QB should not be allowed to talk about another QB choking anytime anywhere.
To be completely honest, I couldn't find it any more classless if he'd just slapped Eli in the face. Still, he's been Mr. Nice guy and done and said all the right things for nearly a decade now. He still gets no respect. He's a choker, and he needs to be traded, and he gets tired in the Super Bowl. So, really, how bad is it for the media to say he's got no class now? He's had that for years and it's been overlooked.

I'm not hiding the fact I don't like him. His gay sideline celebrations, the moon walk, "next question", picking up the phone. Oh and the fact that he has no heart and barfed in the biggest game of his career. Then denied it.
For someone who doesn't like him you know a lot about him and his career. It was a goofy move that didn't need to be done. However, you can not deny 5 trips to NFCCG in 10 years. Do you think the Lions, Jet, Bengals would endure the utter embarrasment of their QB picking up a phone for 2 seconds in exchange for 5 championship games?

How is this any more "unsportsmanlike" than, say, Joey Porter acting like he's wiping poop off of his shoe every time he breathes on a guy? Does Porter get flagged for that? Did Nick Whatshisnut from the Chiefs ever get flagged when he'd act like he just hit "The Shot Hear 'Round the World" every time he sacked a quarterback? Same gimmick, in my mind.It's stupid. And would also be funny as s@$#$#. Not only because someone actually chucked a snowball at that fossil, but also because I expect that a "Benny Hill-esque" chase scene would then ensue as Coughlin tried to tackle McNabb, complete with scantily clad co-eds, the "Yakkity Sax" track blasting over the P.A. and a very short, elderly English gentleman slowly bringing up the rear of the chase....without his dentures in.

Not really. He turned it up and made it 3rd and 1, if he would have tried to lay down in bounds he wouldnt have been able to get that close to the first down. I'm a Redskins fan and I thought it was hillarious. Heck, even that Giants guy ( don't know if he was a coach or what) right by the phone was trying to stop himself from laughing.
What I found offensive was the reaction of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. I don't think it's possible to have 2 bigger losers in the broadcast booth. Then again, these are the same 2 jagoffs who acted like Randy Moss burned the American flag in the endzone in when he did the faux mooning during the playoff game at Lambeau a few years back.

Well, you have to remmember Aikman from his playing days. He was the most unemotional, robotic player I ever saw. Very close-to-the-vest and conservative.He was also unflappable and great, so I'm not dissing on him. He's like the boy in your class who watches the students put a thumbtack on the teacher's chair and while everyone else is laughing, he's running to the office to tell.
You can see where I live, so I am a DIE HARD CB FAN, but I still laughed at the McNabb phone gig. Its the playoffs, in a game that they deservedly won, and he has a right to celebrate a little. All these ditching, crying, FELLOW fans should stop it. I loved the Troy A. era, and if the DFW God would have ran out of bounds with the game in hand and picked up the opponents phone for 1 second, we would have ALL loved it!! To know that Troy could for once act like he was having a good time would have been a great "1 TIME" feeling. The more we Cowboy fans whine and cry, the worse it looks. Obviously we all hate the other NFC East teams, but would trade spots in a minute and applaude Romo if he had done the same thing. It wasnt a classless act, but pretty darn funny to this football fan....ETA: And lets please stop calling other coaches overweight with "choking" QB's- You just defined our team!

I would think Eagles fans should be the people most upset about this, not because it was terribly mean-spirited or offensive - it wasn't IMO - but because it was mind-numbingly stupid from a football standpoint. It was a twelve point game with three minutes remaining, not exactly out of reach. And McNabb's action took them from a third and 1 at their own forty - a very makeable first down where one first down pretty much salts the game away - to a third and sixteen at their own twenty five. Yeah it turned it out to be "meaningless" in the grand scheme, but that doesn't excuse how moronic it was at the time.

Agreed. This wasn't the action of a Mensa candidate by any means. But it was a fleeting thing that was comical, though the consequences were not well considered. Then again, maybe he didn't think a penalty would ensue. Either way, really not much to get into an uproar over.

That's a pretty big stretch, comparing what McNabb did to taunting an injured player or any other classless act. I also don't care for that. However, I still think the NFL should be fun and entertaining and I thought what he did was both. It wasn't in anyone's face, nor was it taunting or classless. The phone was there, he saw it, and he picked it up. I laughed. Others, apparently, were incensed. Again, regardless, not really much to get upset over. Just my 2 cents

If he didn't know that using a prop like a phone is pretty much an automatic penalty that might be worse than not knowing there could be a tie.
So the consensus is that this was an emotional spur-of-the moment thing, probably not too smart but not that big a deal.
But what if some players on the Giants sidelines reacted emotionally in a not too smart spur-of-the moment way and pushed him into a bench or something, etc...and he got hurt? And couldn't play next week? THEN what?

If you really want to examine it, it was dumb to run out of bounds in the first place; only compounded by him picking up the penalty. I'm an Eagles fan & I actually found Aikman's comments more funny than the act itself. It's nice to see a national analyst not kiss McNabb's ### & call him on the carpet when he does, or says something stupid. He's a lot more objective & geniune than most of the other ex players that pollute the various pre/post game shows; particularly the utter garbage NFL network puts out.
