Mike Tyson Vs Jake Paul? (1 Viewer)

Watching it with two of my closet friends tomorrow night. My buddy built a home theater room in his garage. He converted it with central AC to boot into a 100 inch screen with full on Dolby Atmos surround, movie seating...the works. He did it all himself too.

Should be fun.....for about 5 minutes. LOL.

I hope we get a real fight......but I doubt it.
What are "closet" friends?? NTTIAWWT :oldunsure:

My buddy has a golf simulator in his heated garage with a kegerator .. we'll be playing golf during the prelims and then putting the Tyson fight on the simulator :boxing:

Does any Netflix account work? Never had it, but it might be worth $6.99 for something to watch tomorrow.

Ok I have really grappled with this supposed “fight”.

Bottom line for me with Tyson:

He is a 58 yr old man whose punch resistance, quick burst, stamina, reflexes and perception is gone. I dont care how much he says he trained he is 58 and on top of that took tons of beatings and abused drugs. This IMO will be a scripted fight designed to have a rematch and rake in tons of money.

If it is a real fight......jesus man...this could be a blood bath for Tyson and honestly end quite quickly. This is really insane that it was sanctioned......but hey it’s all about the cash.

I just hope he does not get seriously hurt. And if somehow he knocks out Paul......wow....impressive.

Can we assume your mother's maiden name is Schmo?
Actually its Golabki, Myrtle Golabki. She's Polish. She recently moved from here as my address, 666 Pepper Radish Ln, sounded like bad karma to her.

Why do you ask?

If there's a script, and assuming its Jake Paul's team writing the script for his personal benefit, I'm not sure a storyline that leads to a rematch is in the cards. Wouldn't it be far better for him to win, convincingly or otherwise, then bring on a better, more interesting challenge? Who would pay to watch these same guys fight again next year? Its not like this is Ali-Frazier or Ward-Gatti. More likely imo is a script that has Paul absolutely crushing Tyson, and then they announce someone like McGregor or a slightly younger, more challenging retired boxer. That would seem more like a interesting progression for his story.

Evidently Paul has wagered his 40M purse on the fight.
Is that even legal? Sanctioned fight? Official casino bet?
No idea. Maybe Pete Rose should have gone into boxing. :lmao:

I am surprised that no one is talking about the 3 part series currently on Netflix about the fight. That 3rd episode showed some serious training by both camps. Mike’s sparring partner said he blacked out for only the 2nd time in his life, with gear on! Paul also looks like a much improved boxer in the final episode. His hands are a bit wild though, which should give some openings for Mike! He still hits hard!

I enjoyed the series and so did my wife.

I splashed 50$ CAN on Iron Mike @ +185.

No casino would take a 40 million dollar bet on this. I don’t even think they would take a bet that size on the SB
It was just a verbal bet. Front he article:

Despite being 31 years younger than the former undisputed heavyweight champion, Paul is tipped as the favorite by bookmakers. As the fighters faced off for the penultimate time before the main event, Paul accepted bets from several undercard fighters on the fight's outcome.

Neeraj Goyat even staked his house, which he claims is worth $1m. However, Katie Taylor, who is set to face Amanda Serrano in a highly anticipated rematch, raised the stakes even higher.

When Paul asked Taylor how much she wanted to bet, the undisputed world champion challenged him: "Do you want to bet your purse?"

Without hesitation, Paul agreed to the wager, responding: "Yeah, let's bet the purse. Deal," and shook Taylor's hand. While few expect these wagers to hold, Paul insists that contracts will be drawn up before Friday night.

Here is more on the betting. Tons of small bets are coming in for Tyson which has shifted the odds dramatically. The biggest sized bets are coming in on Paul but they are not enough to offset the huge amount of small bets being made on Tyson.

It felt like the entire thing was a work when watching it live. Some were even giggling trying to remember their lines. The whole thing looked pre planned by Paul to continue to drum up interest. But it would be fascinating if even one of the bets was real.

Bunch of ~50 year olds dudes who grew up playing Punch Out and watching every Tyson fight want him to win so badly but don't want to piss off their wife so they only place 50 bucks on him to win. Also, they know deep down he is too old and is going to get smoked

Well pretty close, I am 47 and technically only wagered about 37$ US.

Damn I had no idea ShuShu got on this card. Hopefully he puts on a show be because he needs a jolt for his career.

Taylor v Serrano 1 was an instant classic, it's on YouTube and would recommend anyone check it out before tomorrow's bout.

I guess I just don’t get this. I would take 58 year old Michael Jordan to smoke Jake Paul in basketball too.

I haven't read the whole thread but we all agree Tyson is going to get killed, right?
It is really hard to tell for numerous reasons.

The Paul’s and Tyson have been involved for years going all the way back to the Tyson Roy Jones exhibition. Tyson and Logan were trying to get together to fight after that but that matchup never came to fruition.

The reduced minutes rounds, and the near pillows for gloves also throw a wrench into trying to properly handicap the match.

I don't follow boxing at all. Haven't since Hagler so I may be way off. Just seems like a 58 year old is just too old to take many punches. And Paul isn't a complete slouch right?

This is more of a fake wrestling match now instead of a real boxing match. I honestly believe this won’t be a legit fight.

I honestly have no clue what this will be. I am watching the Netflix doc.

Paul is not impressive at all…..and Tyson is old as faaaaa.

I just hope it’s entertaining.

I am actually really looking forward to that womens rematch. That will be bloody if it’s anything like their first fight.

I think Paul is very literally a complete slouch out there.

If Tyson can land some big body shots…..that will do it. Work the body and then land one uppercut…..done.

I don’t think Paul has ever been hit by a guy like Tyson.

Yeah he is 58……but he does look in shape and has power.

This freaking Netflix thing brainwashed my old 54 ***.

My biggest concern for Tyson (besides the obvious being 58 and pretty washed and mentally unstable lol) is that right eye which can easily be opened up with one good shot.

Team Tyson…..LFG.

I just watched the Taylor v Serrano YouTube. I haven't seen a fight like that in a long time. Incredible tenth round. This gives me something to look forward to seeing tomorrow night.

The Taylor Serrano rematch should be a brawl, just watched some of the first fight. I'm backing Serrano and Tyson. 58 years old but he has the boxing experience, looking to be in great shape, still should have the 1 hit KO power and the fear of Tyson. "If" the fight is legit, I think Tyson will surprise people

Oh man, some little kid interviews Mike for her Youtube channel and asks him about his legacy. He goes off, talking about how stupid of a word it is and how we are just dust in the end and nobody ****ing cares and how it doesn't matter because you're dead, etc., Kid was speechless.

Someone will post it, I'm not searching for it, but worth a view. It was on SVP just now. Funny ****.
