Miss Universe 2015. Steve Harvey announces wrong winner (1 Viewer)

We pulled 3rd, not bad. LOL at not reading that properly. They could have idiot proofed the layout better.
Seems that the Miss Universe Pageant is obligated to put the USA contestant in the top 10.

Interesting how there are only five countries which had contestants win three times or more:

USA - 8

Venezuela - 7

Puerto Rico - 5

Philippines/Sweden - 3.

You can see how easy it was for him to be confused:

Or just plain stupid.

What a maroon.

:lmao:
I'm not saying it's exactly indecipherable...

but that card is in the running for the worst possible use of fonts and positioning for a list containing 3 simple results.
Come on! The layout is bad, sure. But how is there ANY chance that you get Columbia as the winner out of that?!?
He saw the symbols "1st" next to Miss Colombia and missed the information toward the lower right of the card.

Agreed, not if you give it more than a cursory glance... which probably would have been kind of smartish for Steve to do.

But... if you just go down the column on the left and see Columbia, then slide your attention to the right where you see "Miss Universe 2015" in the largest font on the card... I can see how this could happen.

Seriously, how often do you really look at a man's pageant result card?

You can hate him but be honest, there are tons of folks like him.
And they are garbage as well. What's your point?
Do you interact on a daily basis with any card carrying Christians? They are everywhere so I don't know how you function.
Somebody hit the batsignal for RBM, I'm about to insult MOP again.

Why do people hate Steve Harvey?
he wrote a book and went on TV tour saying atheists are bad, because they have no moral center and women shouldn't date men who aren't religious. He then proceeded to cheat on three wives, and left a couple of them in bad financial shape, apparently stealing money from one of them.

Also he isn't funny.

Yes, the USA is basically obligated to be near the top. The reason is the $$$ poured into pagents in the USA far outstrips any other country. There is a lot of profit for the industry in having mom and dad hemmorage dollars from toddler through teen. This is also the reason these ladies are hardly ever as hot as some women you pass by on the street every day. Most women don't have the time or money for this kind of stuff.

Ohhhh, that. Yeah, I could see that not making him very likeable.

Odd. I find great humor in his ignorance and hypocrisy

I didn't know any of this, other than the not funny stuff. This is great news IMO- if he was a decent guy I'd feel kinda bad about what happened, but now we can keep cracking jokes about this spectacular blunder for as long as we want without any guilt.

You have to imagine that there is a rehearsal and they have a card in his hand for it, so he should have seen the format of the card before seeing it that night.

Up until this thread I was delightfully unaware of Mr. Harvey. I'm not exactly a Family Feud kind of guy. I still thought the show was being run by the J.R. Peterman guy from Seinfeld.

That said I am pleased his mistake resulted in the links posted in this thread. Absent the mistake I may have never bothered to view Ms. Philippines or Ms. Columbia, and that would have been sad. Turns out I would have been better off watching the pageant than the game last night. Fortunately I did switch over to the season finale of Badlands. I can't decide if that show has promise, but it has more promise than the Eagles.

As an aside I think Skinamax ought to do a soft core movie featuring Ms. Columbia and Ms. Philippines becoming very good friends as Ms. Philippines consoles Ms. Columbia about the mix up. It would not even have to be a full length feature. I think about a 90 second short film would do the trick if compellingly directed and vigorously acted.

As always, you capture the most important things that others fail to observe, but I do have one slight objection to your third stanza. Instead of Ms. Phillippinneess and Miss Colombia being very good friends, how about they start off as rivals in a seedy women's prison, run by sadistic lesbian wardens who insist on lots of steamy hot showers for their inmates. The two leads engage in some rough pillow fighting before uniting to overthrow the evil wardens and launch a daring escape during the prison's bikini car wash fund raiser. Steve Harvey can play the drunk janitor.

See, I may be an idea man, but I lack the sweeping vision of an artist such as yourself. I should produce quietly in the shadows while you write and direct.

6 minutes of video to explain why people hate steve harvey? must be a lotta hate!
I guess you didn't watch the video. Anyway, if you're not a woman, or gay, or rational, or have a sense of humor, he's probably tolerable.
I'll check it out later. Not sure I want my colleagues listening to 6 minutes of Steve Harvey hate.

My family and I watch him on Family Feud occasionally as it's a decent brain rot show. I think he's pretty funny at times, but I'm easily entertained.

Why is it Universe 2015 when we are less than 2 weeks away from 2016? Shouldn't it be 2016?
Why is it Miss Universe at all? Are there contestants from planets other than Earth?Shouldn't it be Miss Earth? Are Miss Pluto and Miss Mars competing?

The others are invited. That they are too chicken#### to attend and compete is on them.

I just watched a lot of it. He talks like an idiot on some thing, others I think the listener is going a bit overboard and taking it badly. He's basically your run of the mill talkative nitwit who is on camera enough that is dumb stuff can be caught on condensed in a way to make him look really badly. Nonetheless, a lot of what he is saying is probably consistent with a large portion of the country's beliefs -- crazy as they may be.

In other words, he'll be a Republican presidential candidate in several years.

That's allowed after the third strike.
