Music Draft - Rolling Stone Greatest 500 Songs Garbage List - Now with unhealthy regional pork-stuffs! (2 Viewers)

@Chaos Commishhow long you in Tahoe?  You up for a hike?  I've got a spot that I'm willing to share, but I never broadcast over the interwebs.
Cannot see the res from 395. Not a good sign. I'm staying the night. Gotta much more boring room. I like fly fishing the inlet and outlets to Twin Lakes. I'll head up there soon. In the morning I have a couple secret spots a little north on the Walker. The first time it goes under the highway, just a very short hike west the scenery is incredible and conditions are ideal for fly casting. If that fails it's a secret pool near Bootleg campground. My dad's spot. Kinda nostalgic for the guy atm.

I have no itinerary. Just overstaying my welcome at my sister's. She has some home improvement projects for me and the BiL. So, yes! Let's see how things go. I always want locals secret spots!

eta - I'll be in Incline, btw.

Having a hard time figuring what to take next. Such a different draft format working off a defined list rather than a wide open format.

Yea u start looking at what you'll get stuck with......but ones persons trash is another's treasure!

I've got 3 groups where I feel like my "songs I actually like" options are very limited. Next pick will be rough... as will waiting the 50 picks to the next one and watching the 2 groups I didn't take get cleared out.

Round 3

Wasn't planning on taking this but that group is drying up fast. May not be a top 10 Metallica song for me but it's the best song of this bunch.

I even listened to a couple songs I didn't know from this group but nothing I liked.

Metallica (390)- Enter Sandman

Ha!  Yea I was hoping someone else would take this.  This is prolly my least favorite Metallica song, but I get it.....it's the most recognizable Metallica song as well.......although strangely, the other most recognizable Metallica song, One didn't make the list, and its an infinitely better song

Yeah, it wouldn't have surprised me if One was the only Metallica song on their list. At least they had MoP ranked higher.

ok.

I was 5, in my tighty-whiteys doing a little pre-Kindergarten prep with my usual morning routine of Sesame Street. Now- this was the tail end of my S Street days... I had matured to the much more sophisticated Electric Company- or maybe Zoom. But definitely not that Romper Room bull####- that was for the #######s.

so- I'm sitting there, as I say... when this guy in cool sunglasses comes on and starts talking to Grover. Grover seemed almost deferential. Nice. not sure why this guy isn't actually looking at Grover, but off to the side... but whatever. Now off to the Count..2 fishsticks... hahahaha... and then back to the guy in the sunglasses.... and some drums? Nice- a song. waaaaaaaaaiiiit a sec... what IS this and how much allowance do I need to save to buy tickets to get to Sesame Street- like, RIGHT NOW.

I have accepted that I am likely to have a handful of songs I could very likely despise.

These will be in name only and will be stricken from my actually playlist.

They will be dead to me.  I will not acknowledge them.  They will not be fed and cared for.  They will be left to the streets to scrounge on their own.

I hate you all.  But mostly you.

Love the story, though.

I respect my limits
I don't respect mine. Karoake for me is always for the laughs. I do Tom Jones. I'd be fooling myself if I took it seriously. Steve Perry? Hellyeahs. haha

Sidebar. My kid used a bunch of home based courses (ty covid) to graduate early with a double major from the Herb Alpert school of Music at UCLA. She also learned bartending in a closed bar (ty covid) owned by her best friend's aunt. It's been open awhile now. So her first post graduation job is bartending, lol, and she's introduced Thursday and Saturday karaoke nights. I get phone calls at 10pm. "Dad, come and sing some of your stupid songs. It's dead!" Sometimes I do. My next pick, if not sniped, will be one that got roars from the dozen or so people there.

:lmao:   I'm going to put a link in the first post to a playlist with all of your songs and attach your name to it.

no ephin way. this is the song i sang and everyone loved it. it is so much fun. jeebus, it's every pick with you guys today. i'm depressed. bye for now. i was going to type the backstory. was supposed to be about crib death but got nixed.

On my pitch-black early Monday morning trip to the bathroom, I didn't put my hands out and managed to wallop the area above my right eye into the doorjamb.  It's swollen and owie, and now I fear that when I go out with friends on Thursday night I'll look like a battered woman.  Because of course what they say to cover for their SOs is that they ran into a door.  Now I feel like I need a cover story for actually having run into the door.

It’s entirely possible that scooby has video of me singing a song from this list at Live Band karaoke like 10 years ago.

OK 51-75. Comes down to 3 songs. One of them was my #1 ranked song for 1970. One of them was my #2 song ever by Bob Dylan- but that’s an artist I’ve already selected. And the third song is somewhere firmly in my top 5 favorite songs of all time. So I will have to go with that one.

The Band “The Weight”

Gets better with age. As great as Levon’s  vocals are, nothing beats the Rick Danko verse:

I said waitaminnut Chester

Karaoke.....My buddy and I used to bring the house down with Patience......another song that should be on the list, which also happens to be the song my wife and I had our first dance at our wedding to........also, another buddy and I brought the house down (a crusty Lil place on the Oregon coast) with Holy Diver as a Ronnie James Dio tribute soon after he died....also, another buddy and I totally butchered Run to the Hills (Maiden) at a Mexican restaurant in Corvallis (college days).....as you can imagine I was hammered for all these

Nope.  Not allowed.  Nope.  The other songs in this block are dismal.
