Music Draft - Rolling Stone Greatest 500 Songs Garbage List - Now with unhealthy regional pork-stuffs! (1 Viewer)

Same deal now for @the moopsYou may select if you do not choose from the 201-225 grouping.  However, if you want to take from that group OR if what tim selects in that group affects your strategy as to whether you want to take anything from that group, then you can continue to wait it out.

OK, now @the moopsis a go again if he wishes.

Ohhhh, you could be right.  I didn't keep good track of the requested skips from last night.  Does anyone remember for sure?

I just looked. He said to "feel free to skip for now" last night, then got pulled into our banh mi talk and selected. What that means for now, I wouldn't know. ilov80s did tell him we had these things called "buildings" these days, but I don't think he cancelled his trip.

the moops said:
oh yeah. no clue. need a bit here. getting ready for a weekend of mountain biking, edibles, friends, beer and booze, and camping.
Wait wait wait wait wait...

THIS DRAFT DOES NOT TAKE WEEKENDS OFF.

I found this, which he did not reply to.  And then he did make his pick today, so maybe he's still around for now.  I did not see any skip request.  :(

#201 Johnny Cash “Ring of Fire”

Still some great songs between 201-225, but this is my favorite. It might be my favorite country song of all time. Much better than “I Walk the Line” BTW.

OK, we have two problem children:

1.  tim, who has been on the clock for more than three hours, stopped in the thread during that time and left without making a pick.

2. THE moops, who might or might not be camping and might or might not expect to be skipped.

At 9 a.m. EDT tomorrow, we will skip them both and move along.  However, I am willing to let the draft move on tonight if we get 10 drafters who check in here and vote in favor of doing so.

Please make your voice known, whichever way you feel.

I would skip the moops. He didn't care last night after we waited two plus hours for him to pick.

Yeah, since it's only him we're talking about now, and he regularly takes a while and then doesn't care if we skip, I'm leaning toward this.  Let me make my soup, and then I'll come back and likely say let's move on.

Johnny's wife, June, wrote that tune with Merle Kilgore.

Actually it's more of a stew.

Let's go ahead and move on now, but I won't be able to update the spreadsheet until I'm done.  No one else touch it.  Just keep that in mind when selecting.  And make sure you're taking in groupings you haven't already touched, since I won't be checking that until I get back either.

What kind of soup? I had tomato basil soup for dinner.

This was indeed one of the 7 ways I thought you might go - 3rd most likely in my estimation.

Bellwoods (probably the most famous, but not the best Toronto brewery) did a tap takeover in my lil city tonight. I'm ready to blast off in bonus rounds (in a couple hours when Mrs. NV goes to bed, it's early).

Round 8

102 Maybelline by Chuck Berry

Pickings are looking a bit slim in this group so I’m feeling fortunate to get one of those blueprint songs. Everything we think of as rock and roll is on display here, maybe for the first time.
I named my new dog Maybelline, but its a long name so she told me, You can call me maybe

Yesterday when I went to the Dr for a sinus infection, the nurse gave me a Covid test, and said the Dr would be in after the test comes back. The Dr came in about 10 minutes later, and I asked her if the test was negative, and she said she cancelled it, because I've had my symptoms for three weeks, and she doesn't think I have Covid. I got that swab stick stuck up my nose for nothing. The nurse did a throat culture too, and I didn't even ask about that.  I did get antibiotics for a sinus infection. 💊

Yes mom

What's your opinion of Animal Logic?
It was o.k. - seems like it should have been better given the Copeland / Clarke combo. I liked it just as a Copeland drumming fix, most of the songs were meh. He's done several other "super group" attempts - like right now he's got one going with Mark King, Adrian Belew, and a couple others. Haven't had a chance to check that one out yet, but previous combos have been similarly underwhelming.

Bottom line is - he's not Sting when it comes to song writing. Those 3 really were at their absolute best when they were together and haven't really approached those heights apart.

That is weird, once the swab is taken you'd think they would just do the covid test

Update: It's five o'clock and I'm all ready to go to this Homecoming thing to do my uncle-ish duty (there are two poop possibilities in there) and I find out we're now supposed to go at halftime because that's when the procession/crowning is. This will require finagling and mingling among crowds while masked -- I forgot all about COVID in my blood-red unvaccinated area and my morning fugue. So I'm leaning towards not going at all and waving from a metaphorical distance.

Good job, bud, you're #1!
