Music Draft - Rolling Stone Greatest 500 Songs Garbage List - Now with unhealthy regional pork-stuffs! (1 Viewer)

I just spent the last hour taking the back of a TV off to see if it had blown capacitors. It was not fun, and all the capacitors looked the same to me, so I put the back back on after struggling to get the ####### thing off.  It will be dropped off at the graveyard that takes broken appliances soon.

Round 10

#361 - The Harder They Come by Jimmy Cliff

Round 11

#418 - Green Onions by Booker T and the MGs

@Ilov80s

I was going to take Green Onions last night to pair with my favorite soup, French Onion, but the timing just didn't work for me.  I love all things Stax, of course, so would have loved it on my roster (plus, onion soup!).

I like Stax better than Motown, but both are great. I like Stax a bit better, cause it is less polished, and had the best session players, and it has those horns!

11.04 My Generation -- The Who (#232, bloc 226-250)

This bloc is now also at 9 "no hesitation" picks, and this is the one that I am by far the highest on.

This was one of my first "favorite" songs, when I was 13 or so. I was drawn to the mayhem.

The Who run!

Won’t Get Fooled Again - The Who

Pray for me tonight. Drinking heavily (perhaps some of the weed) and then going axe throwing. Hopefully I still have all my digits to make my next pick.
Wait. Is this in one of those places where it's a business where they have people in there to help and watch, or are you going into the woods with friends to throw axes at trees?

Today was my town's annual Beer Run, where people dress in costume, mostly as Vikings (Norse not Minnesotan), and do a 4.0 mile run with stops at nine breweries.  I happened to be out running errands and forgot about this until I saw all these drunk people with running bibs.  Anyway, one of the breweries, which was ####### packed today, has an axe throwing court (pitch?  what is this called?) attached to it.  That's always seemed like a bad idea to me.

Ok, the smart thing to do would be to take a song that's a guilty pleasure from a super depleted segment.  But I'm not smart.

11.8 (No. 497) -- Truth Hurts -- Lizzo

Juice is more my jam, but this is still pretty great as far as newer pop stuff goes.  Although Lizzo, and all of you, should know that I"m decidedly not great even when I don't gotta be great.  Go to your new man on the Minnesota Vikings, Lizzo.  Lizzo's Tiny Desk concert was a standout.

Who’s Greatest Hits was the first cassette tape my older brother ever had and we wore that thing out.  My favorite as a kid was Pinball Wizard but every track on there was a banger.

It seems like a disaster. There is an axe/bar in Durham called Urban Axes. What can go wrong?

Minor housekeeping:

THE moops owes 2

Northern Voice owes 1

Eephus owes 2

Ilov80s owes 2

Doug B owes 1

We're at the halfway point, so please check your picks and make sure I've entered them correctly and shaded the proper groupings on sheet 3.  Let me know of any corrections.

Big Lizzo fan. Again mistakenly thought nobody would take her..and yeah, that Tiny Desk spot was great. [/Flute solo]
