Netflix Original: Stranger Things (2 Viewers)

Plus 1st generation Millennium Falcon Star Wars toys!  Damn it I miss the 80s.
I got the Millinium Falcon when I was about 10. It was sold out. Mom got a Rain Check. It didn't come in before Christmas so I opened a present that had a picture of the Falcon snipped from the catalog. It came in about 3 days later. I still remember screaming that it had arrived and waking up my baby cousin (Aunt and Uncle were staying with us that Christmas). Ahhhhh, the good old days.

Speaking of 80's toys. My mom saved all my legos from when I was a kid. Got my kids a lego table and some sets. They never play with them. Never. I never opened up the box of my legos my mom saved to give to my kids. It makes me sad.

My son is obsessed with legos

i like to say lego my lego which is like an old waffle add but with a twistorama in there because swc is tricky like that take that to the bank bromigos

Anyone who sees that show and thinks it kinda sucks has no soul. That show is absolutely epic.
I wouldn't say it sucks but I never managed to finish it. I think I still have like 2 episodes left but doubt I'll go back to it. I love the 80's vibe and the kids were good actors but the story just seemed to plod along. Wasn't really into it but I'm not a big sci-fi fan. My wife gave up a couple episodes before I did.

and it's true... I know this for a fact.

For those who have binged season 2, any parental feedback? Season one was relatively tame except for teenage hormones, bra scene. Anything to expect in season 2 to skip past with the kids?

Language if you care about that. No f words but lots of shots and bull####s thrown around. Can’t remember if season 1 was like that.

Other than that, relatively same level of scare factor to season 1.

Much slower start than last season, but great so far in 5 episodes. Ramping up each episode in intensity. Didnt think they could match the first season, but very into it so far. Liking some of the new characters like Sean Astin and Mad Max.

Some storylines have no idea where they are going like the older sister and her boyfriend, or Mad Max's older brother and their unknown storyline.

Finished.  Love the 2nd half of the season.  Especially loved the bald chick.
I thought this was gonna be a dissapointment after the first four episodes.  But really picked up after that.  Glad they redeemed Dustin's character by end.

David Harbour was terrific.  Can't wait for him to get his career-defining role.  It's coming.

All the kids were great but got to say Noah Schapp, who plays Will, had one of the better "child" performances I've seen.  He stole the season IMO.

It was uneven but I'd say overall it was a worthy follow up.  More importantly I think the younger audience will enjoy it as much as the first season.

First season was a 10/10.  I'd give this season a 7/10.

Other than the language there's a couple scenes of teenage drinking and one of teenage sex (after some drinking but without linking the two).

The second scene with drinking and later sex is particularly disturbing as a parent because there is an adult present who not only allows both to take place but actively encourages both. Not necessary and if not skipping the scene entirely it's worth a discussion of you have teens. Preteens might not even understand what's going on. It's the scene where the Will's brother and Mike's sister go to see the reporter. Not sure what episode.

Enjoyed the first two episodes.

Edited - deleted stuff that might be viewed as spoilers even though just first two episodes.  Sorry

Is this a serious post?

Finished over the weekend, episodes 6 & 8 are the best IMO, great pacing and tension in those. Episode 7 is kind of out of left field and seemed mainly just a setup for the mechanism to resolve the season. Which speaking of, liked the last episode (9) a lot as well even if things were tied up a little too neatly. It's almost as if they were possibly thinking there wouldn't be another season although the creators have said they want to do 4 seasons total. I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10.

Only complaints would be I found the sister and will's older brother's plotline pretty boring and didn't contribute much to the overall story, especially compared to the role they played in the 1st season. Same with Mad Max's older brother who seemed extraneous to everything. They also expanded the big haired boyfriend's role a lot which I think was a plus (especially when they paired him with Dustin), I found him to be one of my favorite characters this season.

Watching it with my family and only on Ep. 3 but what just jumps out is wow, there are a lot of unattractive people in this.  You would think there would have cast some/any eye candy in this.
HAHA! Just started watching this series too and came across this thread. And I have to say, that was also what came to my mind!

Watched episodes 6-8 last night.  I couldn't stop watching despite needing to get to sleep.  It took everything I had just to close the laptop after the final scene of episode 8...

I would have never guessed that a slow motion entrance by a 13 year old girl could be so badass, but that shot of Eleven coming in the door at the end of episode 8 was cool as hell.
I think this season is better than the first and if they keep this up with future seasons I'm ranking this show up there with Breaking Bad in my all time rankings.  This show is flat out amazing.

Just finished season 2.  Still really good.  Falls short of the awesome that was season 1 though.

Also got extremely corny at the end. I understand it but didn't dig it.  Also the teaser for next season was weak.

No way its close to breaking bad.

Not sure if it's common knowledge but there's also beyond stranger things also on Netflix....a show about the show, like talking dead sort of.

Not yet, but it could be.  Breaking Bad was 5 seasons long.
i would be surprised if its even close to as good next season.  i thought it lost serious steam this season as it went along.  but to each their own.  im glad you liked it.

love it to about a billionty million and it is great trying to catch all of the referneces to 80s movies you got you some 16 candles got you some goonies got you some ghostbussterrs indy jones its just rules take that to the rewatch it and you will see what i mean bank brohans

They said they plan for it to go 4 seasons.  So we're halfway through.

It seems like for now, they have contained the Mind Flayer although it definitely is still stalking the town, per the final scene.  I could see next season having the villains be humans, like the scientists from the lab, somehow setting up Season 4, including the final showdown with the Mind Flayer.

Also, since they tend to incorporate movies from the time period, 1985's biggest films include Back to the Future, The Breakfast Club, and the Goonies.  There are so many references they could go with there.

given the HBO show, room 104 by the duffer bros- I have pretty low expectations for future seasons.

but so far so good half way through this one. have kept to what worked last season: 80s cultural nostalgia/aping with a decent enough plot and periprheral production values including acting to make it a fun watch.

Thought it was great. Really care about the characters
I don't know if it's because I feel deathly ill, or if it's the 80s vibe taking me back to my childhood, but I got like, REALLY emotional watching this yesterday.  It's really not something that's too uncommon for me when stuff deals with the pain and suffering of children, but I think the illness and how much I like the characters kicked it up a few notches.

I watched the first 10 minutes of S2E1 and then turned it off.

1980s arcade games where you can input more than 3 letters for your high score?  GTFO.
