NFL Preseason 2018 Game Observations Thread (3 Viewers)

I could bet you he gets cut and I would have the same odds.
I'll take that bet. Absolutely no way he gets cut, imo. He has a defined role and is the 2nd youngest back that will make the final roster. You can continue to dump on him if you want, so I can draft him late.

Can you extrapolate some?  Bengals just schemed his plays very proficiently his rookie Season   Or  Nothing in the tank that Belichick can put on the field
He got lucky his rookie season, it happens. Call it fresh legs or good oline play or whatever it was but he is not athletic, he doesn’t have great traits and he has nothing to add to the pass game. He’s a below replacement level player whose hopes are tied into Blounts 20 something TD’s from two years ago.

Boyle to Kumerow 52yd TD.

Boyle is looking good, could stay as 3rd QB and eventually get the back-up job. Kumerow could win the last WR spot too

Feel free to drag up my quote then. I’ll see you on the other side. Always happy to bet on talented backs and against terrible ones.

A healthy Burkhead likely gets those carries rrie's when the games count, methinks
If Hill makes the team I see him getting those type of carries...he offers zero on special teams and I don't see them keeping him if he does not have a defined role...that is not how BB does things...

He's far from terrible, imo. I see a 3-down back who can catch, block, and hammer it in the RZ. He averaged 10 touchdowns a year in Cincinatti before they drafted Mixon. I know he gets the job done on the goalline and that's all I'm looking for.

Someone who I can plug in as needed and get 2 touchdowns based on gameflow. We shall see though, this is what makes fantasy so much fun. Good luck!

Okay I can't really say that there's an actual closer at the RB position  Much less say the NE OLine is up to such a task  (imho) I see closer potential when you mention a back capable of 20 TD's  So to me, it's beyond special it's unheard of actually  Since it sounds like your basing an opinion on what you have seen I much appreciate the feedback  (I am sorta bias to big backs)

Colts WR Deon Cain suffered a knee injury in Thursday night's game against the Seahawks and will not return.

The buzzed-about sixth-rounder had one catch for four yards before going down. It's possible the Colts are just exercising caution in an exhibition tilt, but even a few days of missed time would be costly for Cain as he attempts to out-shine his day-three label as a rookie. His status will be updated in the next 24 hours.

yup If Hill sticks he is Gerald Riggs.

Color me very concerned.

NFL Network reported late Thursday that Guice will undergo an MRI.
This is why I was concerned.  Even though people walk off field and they see ok we have seen this before and it ends up being torn ACL out for season.

Just brutal

Nice to see Teddy Bridgewater back  on the gridiron and playing well.

What is your take on Cannon?
He’s been getting a lot of camp buzz. He looks pretty good so far, thought he was more of a sattelite type RB, but he’s running like a traditional RB and gaining yards. When McGuire comes back he’s expected to take the 3rd Down role, but I could see a scenario where Powell is traded or released.

I added him on waivers in one league. Worth a shot.

Whoa ... THEE Charles Johnson?

Hows that Jets WR depth looking? Always thought Charles J could be a regular fantasy producer ..
Yes, the former Viking who looked like a stud for one season. Darnold actually threw 3 TDs to him. He dropped the first one, was called for offensive pass interference on the second and Darnold went back to him for a third time for the TD.

I’m not sure he makes the roster. Anderson, Enunwa, Kearse and Hansen and probably Terell Pryor are locks. Then there’s a whole bunch of castoffs including Johnson, Tre McBride, Andre Roberts, Lucky Whitehead and young guys like Charone Peaks and Ardelis Stewart competing for 2 or 3 spots.

Thank god this draft looks to have pulled some talent at the QB position. The league has been lacking of late and with Ben, Brady, Brees, Rivers and I’ll even throw in Eli creeping ever closer to retirement it is needed. I’ve been impressed with all of them that I’ve seen including Allen (and Rosen not playing yet so withholding judgement). Darnold and Mayfield look to have the it factor, Lamar has the mobility with the mentality of a pocket passer and Josh Allen actually has a lot more nuance to his game than I expected. He could actually learn to play NFL QB even if he tops out as some freaky Jay Cutler lite.

Didn’t get to watch the game but I’m curious what the Jets’ plans are for Darnold. I’ll be honest I’ve always been a McCown fan, I don’t know if he just didn’t put it all together when given the chance but it seems like when he is playing the back up role he always strings a bunch of good games together. He really can sling the ball. But Darnold is obviously the future so I’m wondering when the transition occurs.

Sorry realized I’m just kind of thinking out loud, lol.

The female lead announcer for the Raider/Lion game doesn't know the players. :(
She has mispronounced, completely, at least 3 players and we are a couple minutes into the second quarter.
Every team has a media guide they give out that includes the name pronunciations. i.e. she is horrible at her job.

Lots of work on that drive for Abdullah. Would have had the TD on the dump off pass if not for the dirt Raiders field. In on nearly every play, even got the goal line carry to cap it off.

Maybe they're showcasing him for a trade?

I was thinking this also.  What has the rotation been in practice?
Hadn't really heard. Had seen some snippets talking Abdullah up, though. The context of those was more in a "he's solidified a spot on the roster" type than "he's going to get a lot of work" type.

If Abdullah doesn't get traded the DET backfield will truly be a cluster#### of epic proportions. We will finally be able to bare witness to the fabled 4-headed hydra.
