*Official 1st Day Draft Thread -Round 1 - Round 3* (2 Viewers)

Harris fits the Bears D better than Wilfork.
I'm thinking that Wilfork can get up the field enough to placate Smith's style. Tackle is much more of a need IMO. Alphonso Boone definitely doesn't fit.

sal p reported mike williams' agent sent him to undisclosed location out of the country to avoid all of the draft stuff. followed by nice plea from berman to the ncaa to reinstate williams and clarett.

IMO, if Dallas moves up, its not for a RB
Clayton saiod they would move up for Shawn Andrews. I can see that, they have a hige hole at RT, plus theyll release Larry Allen on June 1. Andrews can play both RT and G.

Good call, and on the money - it would not surprise me to see TB take him instead of RB Jackson and if TB Passes, Wilfork will be a Bronco.

I was thinking of Harris as a DE, my bad. Nice pick by the Bears as he does fit their scheme well.

Tuna wants him a big, meaty S. Andrews. That guy's a fat### road-grader. He was born to play for the Tuna.
Yeah - they'll have to leapfrog Miami to get Andrews - as a phins fan, I obviously pray that doesn't happen.

For all my hoping for R. Woods, there is a lot of D talent out there that the 49ers could be facing, with the possibility of a good RB too.Hard to imagine the war room isn't going to get a few trade offers.Do the right thing Donohue! Make a smart decision!

No really shocking picks yet after 14 selections. Solid job by all the NFL teams to this point as every pick really makes sense (two trades were questionable though by the Giants and Cleveland)

I would prefer CB or OL for Dallas at #1, THe R1 RBs don't do much for me. I think thye should sit tight and take BAP or even trade down for an extra 2 or 3, lots of good value thru 3-4 rounds this year.

Interesting the way it's going, why Udeze and Smith sliding though?*crosses fingers that Vikings get Smith or Udeze or DJ instead of Babib or trading down for Babin*

Thanks. I agree that TB should grab Wilfork in a hurry. Then I know that SF wants a WR, but they would be crazy not to take Will Smith IMHO. Then DEN takes either DJ Williams or a RB.

Looks like Harris paid for college by side action as a pimp - that guy was Mack Daddy-in' big time.

Did you expect Wilfork,Udeze, AND W. Smith to all still be on the board at this point?

Chiming in on the Giants trade (sorry folks Im spending the draft mostly watching this on the big screen or outside BBQing outside its beautiful!)... Giants fan here so I wont admit there is no bias.First, GREAT trade for SD. They got their guy at a pretty good price. As far as the Giants, they certainly could have done this (in my opinion) with the 2nd rounder this year instead of a first next year - but from what we have heard in NY,. Acorsi REALLY didnt want to give up their very high #2 this year. For one, the Giants 2nd rounder is very close to a low 1st rounders this year... if the Giants are within a game of 500, it wont be such a dramatic difference, especially considering...this is a pretty deep first round and the Giants may be looking for someone or a couple people in particular at pick 34. So.. although at first it looks like the Giants overpaid, I believe this was a calculate move and works for them.. assuming Manning is THE franchise QB the entire Giants organization seems to agree he is (time will tell). One more note about keeping this years second at the expense of next years first... since they took Manning, Kerry could very well be their guy this year. That 34 slot can give the Giants someone they can use THIS year since Eli is going to need a little time. A bit of the best of both worlds, instead of getting a #1 next year in an unknown draft class. Just some thoughts.. Im catching up on this thread on the pda but its slow going :- )

I think SF will grab a defensive player before "reaching" as they might see it just to fill the WR spot. They obviously spent their FA retention efforts on that side of the ball, build the strength rather than patch the weakness, as Vivian stated regarding the Cards selection of Fitz.

Nice year to have your team stuck in these mid-first doldrums. Lots of nice talent here at a lot of positions. Very interesting.
Bucs & Bears Fan here, so I agree![GB the NFL realigning]

Gotta agree with you on this. Adding defense can only help the team overall.Still won't be surprised to see a trade down so York can save a few bucks.

Since those in the know are here...how will Urlacher do in Lovie's defense? Specifically tackles and sacks.

Tampa maybe goes with DJ Williams? Brooks is getting old(er).
The Bucs can go a number of different ways but Wilfolk is the best pick here in my opinion. They could use a talented guy clogging up the middle.

Tommy Kramer what do you hear the Vikings want to do? Also what do you want them to do as of now?
Baby steps. First, get the card in on time. After that hurdle:It's no secret that they need DL or LB. They said that they're more focused on production than potential, so if both are available they'll go with W. Smith or Udeze over DJ Williams.WIth Udeze's shoulder concerns, I think that they're holding their breath that W. Smith falls to them. Studwell did say that the odds of trading up are remote because they need all their picks. So, in order:W. SmithK. UdezeDJ WilliamsV. Carey (please, no)
