Makes sense in little league. If the other team isn't putting the ball in play you need to keep the defense involved and alert.

Makes sense in little league. If the other team isn't putting the ball in play you need to keep the defense involved and alert.

I kinda like the throwing the ball around. In a sport that hates showing the other guy up, I've always seen it as a mild form of showboating that nobody acknowledges. I like it. Baseball needs more showboating. In a mano y mano sport, these guys shouldn't have to supress the urge to show the other guy up from time to time. This is a seemingly respectful way for them to do it without having to call it showboating.

It's like the whole infield saying "Heyo!! Have a seat son" and "We're getting bored out here watching you sissies strike out"

I know nobody will agree, but that's how I see it.

Not about staying "sharp" ... about staying loose. Nothing is worse for readiness than getting back on your heels. Professional or not, it's human nature.
