*Official 2015 Philadelphia Eagles* - Winning when it doesnt count (1 Viewer)

According to Ed Werder, Demarco complained to Jeff Lurie about his role in Chip's offense. Lurie told him to stop running like a #####.

*Full disclosure, I added that second part.

Loving this Demarco going to Lurie upset at his role BS.

Demarco is a classy guy, doesn't want to cause a scene...but obviously he doesn't fit in the scheme, doesn't see Chip changing, has likely talked to Duce and Chip about this, and is PO'd.

Gotta do what you gotta do. Either change the system or play Mathews and Sproles. It is what it is.

Whether it's system, quantity of carries or both, Demarco has just not been effective. Chip sees it, obviously. I think it's a big positive that chip recognizes his GM mistakes and is addressing them as the coach.

Agreed. While I understand that Demarco is a prideful athlete and he wants to contribute, unfortunately for him, in this system, Mathews and Sproles (and Barner) make the offense look better.

Having your feelings hurt and pulling an end around to Lurie bc Chip's moving on? Seems selfish and NOT what the team needs after a big win.

Wasted money, but better to cut the losses here, and Chip doing it shouldn't lead to Murray being butt hurt. It's not like he didn't have week after week to maximize his opportunity here. He doesn't fit the system. Others look better in it.

I can't understand how Chip could have spent that much money on Murray and had no intentions of creating plays that suit his strength. He was the best back in the league last year. Running north and south. It was already clear by week two that Murray wasn't good going east and west. Just a horrific fit. Is Chip's offense so inflexible that they can't add a couple of plays that would let Murray use his strengths? I have no problem rolling with Mathews and Sproles. Although Mathews could never handle more than ten carries a game without getting injured. But to think of all that money that's going to be tied up next season..ugh. That could be a Joe Thomas.

I thought the whole reason we got rid of Shady was that Chip wanted a one-cut runner who doesn't dance around in the backfield. Then he brings in Murray and has him dancing around in the backfield trying to go east-west.

Murray certainly doesn't look great, but this is looking more and more like a panic move every day.

I think so, to a point. They had a deal on place with Gore. He changed his mind. Not wanting to go with Mathews alone, they ponied up $$$ for Murray lokely thinking that he was good enough to adapt and fit the scheme. He did run out of the spread at Oklahoma.

Bad signing, but the decision to 'cut losses' v. NE seemed the right call. Sproles and Barner looked fine. Mathews has looked very good. Glad that they adjusted but yeah, it hurt the cap for 2016.

He's here like you said. So I think part of this growth process is accepting Murray's skill set. Last week was the first we saw him game plan for what the defense gave him. Maybe when he sees a team is susceptible to a power running attack, Murray will get more volume.

We can only hope because it would be bad to have an unhappy player just sitting there.

Great win, division title still in play, but Billy Davis has to go:

In the last seven games, the Eagles have given up 24 touchdowns in 28 opponent red-zone trips. Their touchdown percentage in the red zone this season, 68.9%, is the worst in Bill Davis' three years as defensive coordinator. It was 58.1 percent last year, and 55.3 percent in 2013.

We still can't stop a slant or contain a RB making catches out of the backfield. He is a mediocre DC, at best, and that's not acceptable.

I guess we see who wears the pants here. The key to winning the NFC could really be centered around one man - Darren Sproles. We just beat NE minus $10M in RB payroll(Murray, Matthews) and had a breath of life with the added dimensions Sproles brings. And unlike Murray, he actually seems to gaf about what he's doing. It wouldn't be sound to go into the season subjecting Sproles to all the hits, but you have to do what you have to do now.

I think Chip(or Duce lol) holds him out and only uses him doing blowouts like he's been doing for weeks now. We literally won a game because he was NOT involved in the game. Enough with this guy. When Matthews is back, what is he like 4th string? unreal..

Connor Barwin is picking it up after a slow/average start. 6 tackles and 2 sacks. He's at 5.2 tackles and .75 sacks over the past 5 games

sports radio will be interesting this week. i just listened to some random stuff from this week and it is good for a laugh.

they were making a big deal on one of the sports shows after the sunday night game how Lurie was in the locker room before the game and seemed to really fire up some of the guys.

i am almost as confused after this win as i was after the last 2 losses
Ya it doesn't make any sense. The 2 games that everyone in here seemed to say we weren't going to be in, were the Jets and Pats games. Let's hope Bradford can go undefeated vs the AFC EAST and win a big one next week.I can't wait for the Shady talk.
We lost to Miami.
Hence the bold.

Mathews is going to play this week, practiced in full today. Need him back for sure vs Buff. I can see Chip really switching things up again and wouldn't even be surprised if Murray is the lead back again. I hope the split is something like:

Mathews 13
Sproles 7
Murray 6
Barner 4

It might be tough for the prideful Kelly to keep Murray on the bench if McCoy is running well. If there was ever a game where Chip is praying Murray is effective, it's this one.

I remember him playing more than a half. This isn't like pitching. He had shots to put that game away.

Hopefully he's grown from that.

He was also leading when he got hurt. And Sanchez proceeded to throw that awful interception in the end zone when all they needed was a field goal. That loss was 100% on Sanchez.

We had 16 points in the half he played. 3 in the half he didn't. We were winning when he left the game. I think we would have won if he played the whole game, Sanchez was awful.

We score on any of those 6 drives Bradford floundered on before getting hurt then game's over also. It's not just the end game. All I'm saying is, Bradford didnt exactly put the game away. Just like most don't give credit to Foles for the Houston win last year.

Let's just hope Bradford has improved from then and turned a corner with this NE game.

Has Shady said anything this week yet? Wonder if he's learned (or been strictly told) to shut his trap about it or if he's gonna run his mouth this week and take jabs. Think he gets booed everytime he touches the ball?

Bradford was 19 for 25 for 236 yards and a touchdown (no interceptions) when he got hurt. That's 9.44 yards per attempt. Did he 'put the game away' before getting hurt, no. So you have a point there. But it wasn't until Sanchez came in that we lost the lead and the game. That was Bradford's highest QBR of the year, I believe.

I could see McCoy getting booed, but Murray getting booed even louder if McCoy is outproducing him.

I imagine this game means more to Shady then anyone. He'll probably be working with the defense a ton this week and trying to give them all the tips and info he can. I don't trust that ####er

I'm sure players that switch teams do this all the time. Or at least I would hope they do.

Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy downplayed any friction with Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly in interviews with Philadelphia-based reporters in advance of McCoy's return Sunday to Lincoln Financial Field.

"I don't have no issue with him," McCoy told The Philadelphia Inquirer in a story published Tuesday. "There's no problem. I don't hate him. It's nothing like that." McCoy later added, "We ain't like best friends or that, but we're no enemies." The star running back stood by a comment to ESPN The Magazine in an interview published in May that Kelly "got rid of all the black players" on the Eagles.

"I'm not gonna change anything I said," McCoy told 94WIP radio in Philadelphia on Tuesday. "I stand by everything I said before. And I don't have no problems with Chip, no hatred. Nothing at all. Everything I said, I stand by it. I don't take it back. One thing about myself, I would never take back nothing I say. I have my own reasons to feel how I felt. I think it's the difference between me and other players -- [that] other players will only say how they feel. I'm different. I'll speak how I feel, but I really don't want to relive that."

Bills running back Boobie Dixon said that McCoy arrived at the Bills' facility Tuesday "full of juice, full of energy" and that McCoy told teammates, "I need you this week."

McCoy is scheduled to speak to Buffalo-based reporters at his regularly scheduled Wednesday news conference.

I have been saying this since the beginning. Davis has no freaking clue on how to coach a Def. Any Def Coord. worth his weight knows when to adjust to its opponents offense in a resonable manner. This clown takes 3 freaking quarters at the minimum to change schemes. My opinion if Gus Bradley gets the axe in JAX, get him in here.

So speaking of former Eagles that Chip ran out of town, how would Eagles fans (over)react if DeSean was still an Eagle and they had just loss a huge divisional game to the Cowboys?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dc-sports-bog/wp/2015/12/08/desean-jackson-and-dez-bryant-exchanged-signed-jerseys-after-mnf/
That's starting to become more of a thing these days. Not sure it would have bothered me. But as someone who was delighted that he left Philly, I can't tell you how happy I was to see him lined up for that punt return and waving his arms and drawing attention to himself, only to lost 20 yards on the return and then fumble. ROFL. Watching him hang his head in shame as he walked off was a great moment.

I'm not sure he will want to come here. We kind of screwed him a few years ago when we had all but hired him as our HC and then Chip changes his mind and we boot him to the curb.

yeah, I don't really have a problem with it. It's quite common in soccer. I could just imagine the calls to 610 though.

Bradford is 155/242 (64%) 1739 yards (7.2 YPA), 10 TDs, and 6 INTs since September ended. Those saying he gets under 10/year next year are nuts.

If you look at numbers in a vacuum, it is misleading. He is a major health risk so that will put a damper on what he gets. If someone does pay him $18 million, like Insein has suggested, I think we can all agree they are probably overpaying for what they are getting.

BTW, I said I think he will get between $5-$10 million per year. Obviously, if he stays healthy and performs well down the stretch, he will probably get more than my range. But if he gets injured again, and misses another couple of games, then that will definitely hurt the market for him.

Skins fans don't want to acknowledge it as they are still trying to believe they got a great #1 WR. They had a chance to drive for the go ahead score and win and he fumbled basically at the 5 after running backwards 20 yards. Brutal and cost them the game.

Was only using the "since september" vacuum because he clearly needed some time to get comfortable in the offense and get back in the groove after not playing in 2 years. The first few week panic/hate fest was a little premature.

Don't think he's worth 18 mil either. But he will be the top FA QB out there and someone is going to pay big. If we go 2-2, win the div, and his numbers are similar to how they were since September, then I don't see why we wouldn't want to re sign him if we have the chance and if we get good value on him. If he goes back to the first couple weeks type stats then I can see moving on from him, but he's been fairly solid since.

He made up for it by catching a TD later on though. But still was awesome to see that bone head play earlier.

Another team we don't have much history with. Buffalo has only played in Philly ONCE in 19 years- A 17-9 Eagles win in 2007.

I do remember Bruce Smith having his way back in the 90's. I want to say against Randall but I can't quite remember.

Looking at the other 3 NFC East team threads, we are literally the most up beat. Amazing what a week can do. We're the only ones that WANT to win this thing. Except for a few idiots on the radio.

Randall also had an amazing play where Smith was bearing down on him and he somehow ducks and Smith goes flying by, then Cunningham pops up and throws like an 80-yard TD.
