***Official 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs thread : Pens raise the cup for 4th time in franchise history*** (1 Viewer)

So Penguins called up a rookie goaltender. Does that mean Fleury and Murray are both out?
Maybe the (still) butthurt Seguinistas and assorted other 19-year-old girls around Boston will root for Dallas now that the Bruins are out.

(* Note -- I work with someone like this, so no schtick.)

Eastern Conference:

Caps 4 v Flyers 2

Panthers 4 v Islanders 2

Bolts 3 v Red Wings 4

Pens 4 v Rangers 3

Western Conference:

Stars 4 vs Wild 1

Ducks 4 v Predators 2

Blues 4 vs Blackhawks 3

Kings 4 vs Sharks 3

So Montreal is bringing back Bergevin, Therrien. And they have no plans to trade Subban.

We'll see if Therrien's goose is cooked by Christmas. Losing Carey Price is a huge blow but there seems like there's something really wrong there chemistry-wise.

Wings will lose this series in 5, all 2-1 or 3-1 (en) type games where they outshoot the Bolts by 10 shots.  Similar to their M.O. back in the day versus Irbe, Khabibulin, Giguere, etc. Except for the part where they were prohibitive favorites coming into the series.

Parise at the Mayo clinic.  He might be out for longer than first thought.  Haula also injured and won't be playing on Thursday.

I'd be surprised at this point if the Wild took a single game from Dallas.  Minnesota sports teams continue depressing their fans with no end in sight.

What's wrong with Parise? That really sucks.

Parise has been playing hurt all season and a shell of what he is.  he scored twice in 25 games at one point.  this doesn't really change much, they've been playing without him for much of the year.

chronic back pain from herniated disk midway through the year.  before that he had the knee (assumed to be sprain) from the hit by Neal that they didn't let heal.  he's been a non-factor for much of the year.

you just guessing?  hasn't been ruled out anywhere.  Torch specifically said he likes his chances to play Thursday.
I suppose I'm overstating that since the official news is day-to-day.  I don't expect him to play Game 1.

Sounds like front runners for Frozen Four MOP Drake Caggiula are (in no order): CHI, EDM, PHI, VAN and OTT. I think BUF is in the mix, too.

speaking of college kids, I'm surprised Kyle Connor didn't get more hype. 35 goals in 38 games as a college freshman?

Parise out indefinitely

Vanek week to week

Haula day to day and was on the ice this morning.  will travel for game 1.

nothing new, but they made the official announcement.

I'm a Wild fan and all but I'm not that optimistic that the Wild can win one against Dallas.  I do appreciate your optimism though.
Dallas really impressed me with their play once Seguin got hurt, but I definitely think the Wild are capable of winning a couple and making this a series.

For the first time ever, I'm going with the Stanley Cup beard. Shaved today, and with the Caps starting play tomorrow, won't shave again until they are out.

This is going to cost me big time with my wife, but so be it.

Never gone more than 7-10 days without shaving, and my beard grows fast, so could be looking pretty special by the end of the first round.

Shouldn't be a problem.

I agree with all these picks, though differ in number of games for some. Hardest one for me is CHI-STL. I would pick the Blues in 7, except that when I think of that series actually going to 7 games, I can't pick against Chicago in Game 7. And I also struggle with a Boudreau team winning a Game 7, but maybe this is a fresh year for both him and the Caps.
