hfs. water is splahsing up to his windshield.

:(

I dn't know what he's supposed to do at this point- this is ####### terrifying.

I know these links are fun and this is insane, but Panama City basically took a direct hit from the West side of the eye.  This is probably going to be classified as a Cat5 hurricane.

car seemed to float into the side of a building...

given the sounds- it appears the car has been breached by water and wind... maybe scraping against something. can't see anything but water at this point

I can't watch any of these live feeds at work, but I do have the Weather Channel on.  I seriously HATE that these people preach how dangerous this is, yet they stand in the street reporting it.  One of these days, one of these people is going to take a piece of debris in the head on live TV.

Conditions there should start to improve in about ten minutes.  I hope the feed lasts so we can see the aftermath.

The east side would be worse, and greater storm surge.

again- htf is this feed still on?

is the camera still "dry" inside in an air pocket and that water is just outside on the windshield?

wow... still on, still against that building with horizontal siding, which pops into focus every now and then until waves pummel it and it seems to go underwater.

How close to the beach was he for those of us just catching up?
was back in the houses when the surge started up.  I mean you can get a sense of it from google maps.  Couldn't have been more than 200m from the water.  And not sure where you would call water level when they showed up, it was already coming up.

hopefully up in one of those houses or buildings that was built to withstand this. the house the car is up against seems to still be standing... so far.

Yes the east side is worse.  But the west side was still catastrophic.
Wind direction is very important for storm surge. A north wind in Panama City is actually pushing water away from the coast. On the east side, there should be maximum storm surge.
