I'd say that is fine, although many of us with lives cannot fathom why someone would watch a show they hate.  If you have that much free time, do something more meaningful in your life.
People have a pretty deep reserve of hope to draw on.  There's a lot of potential in stories involving the breakdown of society.  I had hoped that this show would see what didn't work with TWD and grow better as the years went on.  Instead, they seem to be doubling down on the stupidity.  We don't watch these shows to get preached at by Rick Grimes or Kim DIckens.  We watch hoping something cool happens.

I'm not looking for a show where everyone is super smart almost to the point of clairvoyance, but come on man.  If you watch those Doomsday Preppers shows, there are people just waiting for something like this to happen.  Would a show where a community of 60 or so people who had their "S" completely together during an apocalyptic situation be interesting?  I think so.  Especially as they reach outward and begin rebuilding society from the bottom up.  Our group of preppers vs. the street gang that took over the Amazon warehouse?  Sign me up

Yeah I watch this show because the potential storyline here is pretty compelling.  TWD doesn't give us too much background (save for the end of first season with the CDC) so I have been watching FTWD because I'm interested in learning more about the backstory and I think there can be some really entertaining scenes about the initial breakdown of society and the nationwide panic that would have ensued (since we didn't see too much of this on TWD).  So, while this show sucks so far, it's still young enough that my hope for the show is still faint - although that was such a terrible first episode to this season that I may be at my breaking point.

If so many of you hate this show then why are you constantly posting about it?  I tend to ignore anything to do with shows I have no interest in.  I think some people just love to bellyache about everything.

I think they could have easily take a 7 day stretch and turned it into a few seasons.  24 style.  Or semi-24 style.

We didn't see society collapse.  We saw a few people survive and then a week passed out of nowhere.

Where were the scenes of unsuspecting people being eaten, where were the numerous looting scenes that would have made for some entertaining TV, where were hospitals being overrun, where were cutaways to government agencies doing something, where were more online things where people were discovering and relaying news and possible safe destinations.........................if any of that was done it was done so quickly and terribly that I don't even remember it.

Probably the worst thing they did with this show was to focus on a small group of people just TWD did.  If they made it more of a global thing but still had the main characters it would have been so much better with endless possibilities.

This is now somewhere in between Z nation and TWD.  I don't mean as to how good it is, I mean it is trying to be serious but can't possibly be taken seriously as a show.
All that happened in Episodes 2 and 3:

Many people got bit including the principal, Alicia's boyfriend, neighbor next door and across the street, etc.

There was looting and rioting going on when they met the Salazar's in their shop.

Strange things were going on in the hospital where Nick escaped and then they drove by the hospital where swat teams were shooting zombie patients.

The viral video of the police shooting the man on the off ramp/Tobias told Madison about all the news information he found on the internet.

They were just about to leave and head to a place in the desert that they heard was a safe destination when the army rolled in.

It's a show based on a comic book about zombies.  It's not supposed to be real life and taken seriously.

Ruben Blades? Who is that? I don't remember anyone with that name. Maybe that is an actor's name.

Then we have another guy mentioning Rick Grimes (character name) and Kim Dickens (actor name) in the same sentence. How about some uniformity, people? Either refer to everybody by their real name or by their character's name.

Excuse me as I now must Google Ruben Blades. Based upon context clues, I am led to believe he plays the eel catcher.

Two of the classics.

I haven't seen this episode yet, hope to catch it tonight, but I'm sure it's not as bad as most of you make it out to be.  I'm sure they explain most of what you are complaining about.  Most likely a bunch of lazy viewing again.

I will say that TWD had/has just as terrible acting and writing imo, but I think people just naturally grow close to the characters over time in spite of it.

oh- there's definitely some posts where the poster clearly wasn't watching. but there's also the usual walking-dead world stupid ####.

You answered your own question on the problem with the radio .. Bold above....

It just added to the insanity of the episode.. Someone in the TWD thread stated they liked this show better because they didn't do stupid things..

Didn't take long, IMO, for this show to :shark:
I see your thought, but I think that was the one acting stupid thing that actually made sense. The dad had more important things to worry about so he gave her a job to do and she acted like we knew she would based on who she is. Also, the guy on the other end has already clearly realized what world he is in, so he manipulated her like a champ. Again, she acted like a teenage girl, which IMHO was probably the most realistic part of the show, hence not understanding why that would bother people. The rest, ugh.

id like it better if the blonde lady was a sexual predator, and psycho killer.   if the samoan dude was really enjoying killing people with his bare hands.  If Ruben Blades like cutting people up like in the old days.   if the hot teen girl was mostly naked and good with a machete.  if the young samoan would get eating alive by both sharks and zombies simultaneously, if the hot mexican chick was mostly naked and good with a machete too and the black dude was actively hunting other boats down to kill everyone and take their ####.

Good luck with that.  We're talking degrees of Kim in season 2 of "24" level badness

Can the sharks have laser-beams on their heads?

Exactly.  It was the cliffs notes version of what the show should have been.   What is was advertised to be.

I think you read that wrong.

This is what happens when you have some recognizable actors playing characters that aren't compelling enough to bother learning their names.

Ruben Blades is pretty much the sole exception here because "Blades" is a way cooler name than whatever his name is on the show even though he is in the top 2 as far as characters go.

Strand is a cool name, and the other top character, but the actor isn't as well known, so he'll pretty widely be known as Strand.

I do like Blades character, but why do some of you think he is some bad ###?  He hasn't actually done any badassery yet, and is old and barely moves.

Talks a nice game though.

Yep, if I saw the guy playing Strand at a bar I wouldn't be able to yell out his name, but I would probably drunkenly yell out "hey look, it's Baron Davis!"

I didn't watch this week and won't watch another one again.
I deleted the first episode two days ago and cancelled my series recording.

This will be the last I even look at this thread.

I can say...it honestly feels freeing.

I didn't realize the one hour of TV I watched and my ONE post about it was so over the top. Guess I need to get a life.

Also, if they are going to stay on the water, can we just change the show's name to Fear the Walking Last Ship?

Oh man, two posts. I really am wasting my life here.....

That is how I felt when I stopped watching "Lost". The episode titled "Constant" or something like that. Watched every minute of every episode through that one. Watched not a second of the remainder of the show.

Would've been funnier if you said Fear the Swimming Dead.

The last ship is moby **** compared to this awfulness.
Just the whole "other ship" thing reminds me so much of the enemy sub in the Last Ship that drove me away from that series pretty quickly. Seems the only difference is one had a virus and one has zombies. Otherwise, looks like it is heading towards the same basic premise of a show.

They aren't going to have this yacht much longer...

Too bad the writers are more concerned with trying to figure out how to get us mentally attached to these unlikable characters and not more concerned with showing us the breakdown of society in more detail than they did.

Also wish this show was revolving around a Negan-style group and how they got so large and how they robbed, raped and pillaged their way to success in the zombie apocalypse. Now that would be a fun show. Instead of the splatter zombie kill of the week on talking dead, they could have the splatter human kill of the week instead.

Wasn't that supposed to be the whole point of this show? How do you mess that up?

This show and thread were specifically designed to give the few people who think TWD is high quality television something to complain about.
I'm beginning to think this show was created so the writers/producers could proclaim:

"You think TWD is bad.. Just watch this!!!!"

I'm just going to keep watching because I want to see Travis ask someone if they've had their #### pushed in.

I may keep up with this FTWD for S&G, but I'm really looking forward to the new Orphan Black season starting today.

If he didn't ask it in training day why would he ask it here? I would laugh if he did though.
