This was one of the other dudes I was looking at. He probably fills a bigger need for me as a point of attack defender but I strangely trust Brooks' shooting just a little more and I think Brooks' player type is a little less common.

Steal of the draft. By far. I’m flabbergasted he went so late.

He's not a high minute, 82 game consistent guy. He's rarely been a starter and won't start for OKC.

He was magnificent in the playoffs, but that's not the guy you'll get during the season.

I was struggling with if I should pick him. Ultimately I decided since so many of these teams are stacked, I'm not sure his value is as high when drafting 15 uber good teams versus 30 teams. He takes Brunson...great, I still have Durant or Khawi to start the offense. Then on the other side, you play him and Brunson gets to play him. Granted he takes away the first option, but the second or third option on a lot of these teams is still fantastic.

I was struggling with if I should pick him. Ultimately I decided since so many of these teams are stacked, I'm not sure his value is as high when drafting 15 uber good teams versus 30 teams. He takes Brunson...great, I still have Durant or Khawi to start the offense. Then on the other side, you play him and Brunson gets to play him. Granted he takes away the first option, but the second or third option on a lot of these teams is still fantastic.

He is fantastic at being a menace that is flying around behind the play too which is what makes him stand out from so many other guys. He is one of the best man defenders and one of the best center fielder types in the NBA. There was a big hubbub around Dyson Daniels averaging 3 steals per game - he only averaged 0.2 steals more per 36 than Caruso and Caruso is a superior man defender.

That said, I kind of agree with your point and @Jayrod point as well that playoff Caruso is not regular season Caruso. I think he was a good pick and if I hadn't picked an OKC guy he would have been on my very short list for my last two picks, but not a steal as he'll only play 1200-1500 minutes and he is already hurt. I love injured players though.

I certainly get knocking Caruso back some due to availability, but I guess when I'm evaluating teams in this fake league, I'm thinking playoff basketball.
