Wheeled Combatant with the field. I believe in Rosario.
Horse like Maxfield that circled the field in the Breeder's Cup Futurity might like to sit and watch that. Hope he gets back.to set a sub :23 opening half with King G and Wells Bayou, but the ***** can't get within 10 lengths of the big timber at that Derby distance.
it's gonna be the most hotly contested opening quarter/half we've ever seen ...
I got the giant-hearted horse at even money on TVG. Put $100 on him, $100 on Charlatan and $150 on Nadal, some on TVG and some on Bovada. Still not exactly sure what the deal with the Nadal bet is. Bovada had it at 5/2, it went off at 1/5, and they paid it at -120.Still dont think Charlatan is a classic distance horse. He almost lost his stride - the smoothest and most deceptively powerful i've seen in quite a while - today but, when he changed leads just after the quarter pole, i literally laughed with delight. Nadal may be a classic horse, but keeps finding reasons to almost rate which worries me in traffic. I'm gonna stick with Tiz as my Derby horse for now, but it would have been a hella race in Churchill today.
Did you guys really get down on Big Red at a price?! My stoopit relief check came today and i woulda nosed every penny of it if i coulda...
That choppy little gait that got Charlatan in first out of the gate is awfully weird looking. How did you find that on TVG? I looked all over a d couldn't find a way to play it there. Had to fund the site OTB recommended and there, felt lucky to get -150 on Secretariat. Since it's September, I'm still favoring Maxfield for the Derby.
i was once very high on this one eyed, nutless wonder ... dunno wtf he pulled out his ### yesterday, as he's been rank dog#### when i've needed him previously ... but credit to the sum#####, he gets a Derby gate if they stay up.Finnick the Fierce ####ed everything up.
Raffa had much more pressure to actually move, unlike Charly ... that div 2 gig had legit stakes speed, and Raffa turned it back - his win was just as impressive, all things considered - King G and Wells Bayou are both G2 winners their last out - Charly had no such company, and really ran no more than a paid workout ... as i said in my runup, he didn't need his "A" game for this lot - we didn't see him fully uncorked, as he didn't need to be.Nadal even a hair faster than Charlatan. Both faster than Pharaoh. I can't wait to see these horses tangle.
Baffert has four months to school this beast, and the natural maturity will assist in spades ... these issues you point out could've hampered him in that 20 horse stampede, especially considering he'd finally see some pressure - the big question now with Charly is just that - how does he respond? we know Raffa has that resiliency, but Charly has just been put in the gate and pointed to the finish line - he's certainly looking like the rawest natural powerhouse of this crop - but those tight quarters, with legit graded speed on his ###, might shake out a different result ... but, ferchrissakes, his abilty can more than make up some errors - again, 4 months for Baffert to work. he needs polish, bit that shine is quantum already.Still dont think Charlatan is a classic distance horse. i was on hiatus, and did not plan on being around this bored for this annual Derby thread ... then i saw that freak dust 'em in that Keeneland Futurity, and, well ... here we are - check that first post.Since it's September, I'm still favoring Maxfield for the Derby.
I finally can follow what the #### you're saying, including and up to wikkid. This is a revelation. Morning your time, 3:48 PST here. Or whatever abbreviation they use. All I know is...I understand what the deal is in here. 4 yrs. old, Raffa the horse named Nadal, oh, the whole lot of it.
Glory be to God.
my 'capping podner in Jersey uses TVG, and had same - could not find it offered ... he also threw a couple shekels at the offshore - cashed a nice big one (he loves Citation), reached all the way down to the triHow did you find that on TVG? Citation, Citation, Citation - that's all i heard as a kid, so i think i did a resentment blockout on that. Arcaro's fave and handy at any distance from what i hear. also got the trip. Affirmed looked to be getting the trip, and his lack of fire (the least likely thing he'd do) attracts my ire at sims. Didn't like Justy getting no try at the front eithermy 'capping podner in Jersey uses TVG, and had same - could not find it offered ... he also threw a couple shekels at the offshore - cashed a nice big one (he loves Citation), reached all the way down to the tri
no schooling to do on Charly - he fought the bit for half a mile because he wasnt allowed to do what he does (which other horses cant do), almost spit it before the boy let him out, he changed & zoom. trip handicappers would be announcing a bounce if he had to come right back, because running just became less than a pleasurable experience in Charly's thick horse head. milers have won the Derby before, and none of them had Charly's stride. you cant teach that stride nothin' - it's bigger than all of us. is perfect locomotion enough to win classic distances @ 3? we'll see -iBaffert has four months to school this beast, and the natural maturity will assist in spades ... these issues you point out could've hampered him in that 20 horse stampede, especially considering he'd finally see some pressure - the big question now with Charly is just that - how does he respond? we know Raffa has that resiliency, but Charly has just been put in the gate and pointed to the finish line - he's certainly looking like the rawest natural powerhouse of this crop - but those tight quarters, with legit graded speed on his ###, might shake out a different result ... but, ferchrissakes, his abilty can more than make up some errors - again, 4 months for Baffert to work. he needs polish, bit that shine is quantum already.
we all know what a goofball Tiz can be - hell, Churchill just might be his first time back in front of a crowd, and an enormous (150k) crowd at that ... who knows if he spooks the #### out - we've seen it before.
And yet NBC never seems to forget the fashion segments with Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir.A question for whomever watched the Arkansas Derby on NBC Sports:
Did I miss the fractions or did NBC not show them? It was driving me nuts. They just showed Charlatan going wire to wire and I don't recall hearing or seeing any fractions. I know that TVG had them when I saw a replay later, but I could have sworn that I missed them on NBC.

I guess I haven't paid attention to Oaklawn recently. I kept yelling out "what are the ******* fractions"? My gf had no idea why I was yelling that.that's Oaklawn - drives me nuts
some "interesting" jockey rides, tooChemical X said:the virtual ride on secretariat was horrible.

I think the jockey lost some pixels in the first turn.Chemical X said:the virtual ride on secretariat was horrible.
He looks to be the best now, but a lot could happen in 4 months, especially related to health. Plus there are always some late-developing three year olds.“A son of Speightstown, Charlatan set fractions of 22.88 seconds for the quarter-mile, 46.08 seconds for the half-mile and 1:09.68 for three-quarters and never was seriously threatened”
He did a mile in in 1:35 and change and finished in 1:48 and change. Did it all of it easily and could have gone around the track again. My buddy has $1K on him at 18-1 in the future book. He just needs to stay healthy and break clean. Nobody is beating this horse if right. Nadal worked hard. This horse had a workout. .
Been a few days since the last update. We'd been waiting for the condition book to come out and see if racing reopened on the 15th. There had been talk of a race on the 17th, but I'd imagine they'd hold out for the Derby. Tiz seems to be doing well back here in the states. No issues from the flight back.
I've been doxxed.tbh, it's most likely cleaner than the real gig.
i hear tell that the cat running the Sim is locked in a safehouse somewhere outside Diablock ... no contact.
That sounds like cheating on the weight.I think the jockey lost some pixels in the first turn.

still think Tiz/Bafferts are fait accompli?
WE'RE BACK, BABY!
man, that '07 (of most recent vintage) was awesome - Street Sense/Curlin/Hard Spun/Scat Daddy/Tiago ... hell, ya gotta toss Rags to Riches in - she won the Belmont.chilling, still.
best class ever?
Had $250WP on Street Sense in the Derby that year. The workout reports at CD were ridiculous. One of my most confident bets ever but it was hard trying to find him in the back of the pack early. What a patient ride - from 17th or so to 1st. Think he was 9/2. Good score.man, that '07 (of most recent vintage) was awesome - Street Sense/Curlin/Hard Spun/Scat Daddy/Tiago ... hell, ya gotta toss Rags to Riches in - she won the Belmont.
but this '20 crop is looking beastly ... i recall going into '07 it was pretty much 2 horses prior to the Derby: SS and Curlin. SS finished second in the Bluegrass coming in, and Curlin had the (still) "never raced as a 2 yr old" jinx knock (though Justy since wiped that). but it was really a case for those 2 only ... Hard Spun just got caught in a monster crop.
but this year?
any of Charly/Tiz/Raffa/Authentic/Max/Honor A.P. would not surprise me in the least ... all six are top-notch enough to be considered potential winners.
we haven't even seen the late(r) bloomers yet ... Baffert has another one, Cezanne, who is a $3.65 mil offsping outta Curlin ... injured, now waking his way back - has yet to even race, so, chances are he's a big longshot to challenge, but we do have the better part of 3+ months here for this one to make a splash or two, and bag some gate points.
yeah, Hard Spun worked that pace for quite some time, took it all the way to the stretch - one of my favorites of all-time, just an honest effort every time out.Had $250WP on Street Sense in the Derby that year. I've always been a fan of less races but with bigger fields. As you implied, 5-6 horse fields are not good for betting.Looks like racing is coming back to Santa Anita. I've got two horses in the same race on Friday in a maiden special. I guess with the backlog of races and not every track open, it's going to be a crowded field, this race has 12 entries. I am so used to seeing 6 horse fields the last few years and 3/5 favorites... might actually be better for the gamblers in the short term.
we may see some scratches ... matter of fact, you know we will - but, still ... ony 2 races carded under 10 entries - was to be expected after such a layoff, but still advantageous to bettors, no question - racing secretary gonna have a busy couple months.Looks like racing is coming back to Santa Anita. it being neither the course nor even stakes record takes a little glow off it, but those are some unconscious #sUnrelated to the domestic 3 year olds, but Almond Eye, wow, what a filly.Clocked a 1:30.6 in the Victoria mile with fractions of 22.9, 45.6, 1:07.9 and 1:30.6 on Turf.
She also owns the 1.5 mile world record of 2:20.6, a full 3.4 seconds faster than Secretariat's 31 length Belmont win at 2:24.0. Yes I get it's turf vs. dirt but that's amazingly impressive from a filly.
