Instead of dying down, the firestorm has only intensified since the Vikings welcomed back their franchise back, with the NFL looking into the case and the governor of Minnesota calling for AD to be suspended. Although the Vikes are unlikely to release Peterson outright like the Ravens did with Ray Rice, they'll probably do the same math. That would be concluding that the controversy isn't worth it, and suspending AD until his legal situation is resolved. He's less than 50-50 to be active for Week 3.

Lawsuit over what? This is America. If they cut him and pay him his guaranteed money what is he going to sue about? They can cut him because they think his Twitter is annoying, they don't feel like paying him, or because he's a child abuser, or for no reason whatsoever. NFL players get cut all the time for no reason other than the team doesn't want to pay them the weekly checks specified in their contracts. Nothing could be more ho-hum.He's employed in America not France.

You should't be so quick to speak for others. My 6 year old cries when I speak to her in a stern voice. My cousin's 4 year old son, on the other hand, could run into a brick wall full speed and not shed a tear. Everyone, even as a kid, is different.

If you read some of the other alleged text between Peterson and the mother he says the kid got some "extra pops" and wasn't crying and is "tough as nails" and she basically says that "he's trying to be strong for you, he's not playing mind games."

I take that as Peterson was giving the kid a whooping and and kept going because the kid was not reacting and he felt like he needed to do more to have an effect. He didn't realize the damage he was doing until it had already happened. Peterson was wrong but I'm not going to demonize him like others have. Is that exactly what happened? I don't know. But I can form my own conclusions just like many here. And I just tend not to always assume or see the worst in people. Even when they do wrong.

The NFL created such a mess by bending over for the media with Ray Rice that now the public (and ESPN) thinks they can run the league by making loud noises. The guy isn't going to runaway, hes not escaping anything... hes going to get his day in court and then he'll get his punishment. Agreed. I didn't know what a switch was and didn't think this situation would essentially prompt half of twitter to announce that their parents whipped them (or worse) when they were younger. Awareness is good.

The culture thing that folks here like chinawildman and dparker support is, in large part, what held up racism, segregation, and even lynching. You know, let people do what they want to do. Don't judge. Special Olympics Minnesota backs out on their partnership with Peterson.

Special Olympics Minnesota, which announced a partnership with Peterson a few weeks ago, acknowledged that it has pulled away from the NFL star.

"On Tuesday, Sept. 9 we announced Adrian Peterson as an Ambassador for Unified Sports," said Lynn Shelander, director of marketing and communications for Special Olympics Minnesota. Just because someone points out that a given story, tweet or fact isn't necessarily fiurther evidence that Peterson is the scum of the earth doesn't mean their are child abuse apologists. It likely means they are thinking people who can see that parts of a story can have shades of grey and the world isn't a black and white place.

I know that would be that this is a more complex and confusing world that you might prefer to live in, so feel free to keep up the mob mentality of the simple that, "You are either with us or against us!"
