Not saying it is or isn't, but I agree it has to be one possibility. 11 year old boys get bruises from 100 different things. But I'm sure CPS investigates tons of stuff based on accusations. I guess they concluded it was Peterson? And police agree? Is that how this works?

The doctor told investigators that the boy had a number of lacerations on his thighs, along with bruise-like marks on his lower back and buttocks and cuts on his hand.

The police report says the doctor described some of the marks as open wounds and termed it “child abuse.” Another examiner agreed, calling the cuts “extensive.”

I feel like this is turning out a lot worse than I thought it was.

That's actually a really good point. How much does the very recent/current Ray Rice situation impact (1) how quickly Goodell acts on this, if any, and (2) how severe the punishment is?

IMO the Rice/McDonald cases are completely irrelevant.

Corporal punishment IS allowed by the law. Reckless child injury sounds like a charge for basically disciplining a child and accidentally going a little too far (you could argue MJ holding his baby outside of the window was reckless). Child abuse on the other hand sounds more like intentionally causing injury for the sake of causing injury. This is all coming from my wife who's a law student btw.

Striking your wife (or husband) in any form constitutes battery. The second Rice laid his hand on his fiancee he committed a crime. For Goddell to impose a suspension immediately without letting the legal process run its course is basically him telling NFL players how they should discipline their children.

I know lots of people here want their Asiata pickup to mean something, but let's not get too carried away. The most likely scenario is that he spanked his kid a little too hard on accident and will get a slap on the wrist followed perhaps by a one game suspension IF found guilty.
