Media witch hunt justice is how I label it. Due process is getting thrown out the window nowadays for twitter trending. Not a good direction to be heading, as some day you might do or believe in something that the media or twitter-verse is out to get and be the next one hunted.I'm a veteran, single father of three and a patriot who believes firmly that media can be just as unfair as life. Who are you?Really ? Who are you ?The ####ification of America is truly getting ######ed.
I'm not advocating that what he did was right or wrong. I'm only advocating that due process is being ignored because of Fat Lindas and public outcry.
There are amendments which were developed after firing flintlocks at our brothers and sisters. These amendments were meant to protect everyone.

I heard that it is on sports talk radio. I don't think it matters though. The NFL ignored their own, newly adopted policy when they suspended Ray Rice indefinitely. So they pretty much do whatever the hell they want when making these decisions. This may have been asked, I'm just getting my outrage in order on this one, but is this covered under the new domestic abuse policy? Are kids/family a part of that? I feel like that is probably a dumb question, but just wondering.
Today is FINALLY the day that the retired 'other' Adrian Peterson is glad he's the other Adrian Peterson.
The policy has always been to let the legal system work 1st, AP will miss time but it might not be until next yrthis is where im at. Why should the NFL do something without first letting due process occur. And if he is not found guilty? Then what should the NFL do? This is a very slippery slope here.Yeah except how should he handle it?1. He's been indicted, but he hasn't been found guilty of anything.I don't see the commish going that light on this one, considering how he mishandled the RRice clown show.Only indicted and I'm sure he'll be give a week to turn in. I'm guessing that the NFL/Vikees will allow the legal system to do its thing before acting.
2. The attorney's statements imply that Peterson will claim it was discipline, but not child abuse.
3. So far as we know, there is no video, no tape. There are photos, and those might be compelling in a court of law, but again we don't know that.
So what is Goodell supposed to do?
I thought it would be sandwiched between the two solariums.Well, to be fair, he's mega-rich. I mean, he's probably got multiple houses with dozens of rooms in each. It's not like he's got a seven-room house and is using one whole room for whipping. He's probably got a sneaker room, a trophy room, a room with just dishes, a video game room, a movie room, a separate TV room, an aerobic workout room, an anaerobic workout room, a wine room, a cigar room, etc. I've seen MTV's "Cribs". A whippin' room might just be a closet off the indoor putting green room.He is beating the hell out of a 4 year old.I don't agree with what AP did. But pounding your chest about "righteousness" is no better than his "tough guy" stance.I'm sorry, but I am just SO SICK of these "tough guy" posts. Are you people serious? I picked many a switch for my parents so they could beat my butt with it.... the key is to pick one that's not to green and not too dead the green ones hurt more ...but if you get a dead one, you have to go back and get another usually means a harder beating ... This is what is wrong with this country I guess none of you ever got a paddling at school either
You know what? Screw everyone that thinks this sort of thing is OK. It isn't. It was NEVER OK. Just because your dad thought so doesn't make it right. The fact that many of us (hopefully most of us) don't tolerate this sort of behavior is what's RIGHT about America.![]()
He has a whipping room for gods sake. A WHIPPING ROOM.
this is torture
end of career, good bye and go to jail please.
The problem with using corporal punishment, especially with something like switch, is it difficult to tell at the time how much damage you're causing. That's why it's made illegal most places (not in Texas where AP did it though).Looking at the pictures - definitely unacceptable.
Question I have (that I didn't see mentioned previously - sorry if it was) - this supposedly happened in May. We're in September now. Granted that's only four-five months, but why so long to indict him?

I'm beginning to think that a lot of Footballguys have led sheltered lives. We have officially become a nation of emo wimps. You've led a sheltered life, haven't you.I agree. I think this is almost certainly good reason for prison for doing it to an 11-year-old.its still not ok to abuse an 11 year old.Oh, Jesus, kid was four. This guy should be in prison. Immediately.
But under any circumstance whatsoever to strike a four year old like that is beyond imagination.

It is not surprising though with how the NFL didn't follow their own rules and bend under the media pressures to reverse opinion on Ray Rice. Now every other pending case is trying to get into the spot light to fast track punishments without due process.
I'll wager you haven't seen the photos. The overreactions to this are going to be mind blowing fun to watch.
Based on your initial post, I guess you think OJ should be walking the streets too, since a jury of his peers acquitted him.I'm a veteran, single father of three and a patriot who believes firmly that media can be just as unfair as life. I have and again the overreactions are going to be amazing to see. I had welts on my ### for days from a metal fly swatter. I would have preferred a switchI'll wager you haven't seen the photos. The overreactions to this are going to be mind blowing fun to watch.
Whippin' room is where he's keeps his cars, the whoopin' room is for beating kids.I thought it would be sandwiched between the two solariums.
Now, is this a "whipping room" or a "whoopin' room"? Or does he have one of each?
Agreed, but as in the Rice case, why do we need the pics or the video (repeatedly) to know or understand what was done was wrong.Okay, some pics are out, there are lacerations and bruising. He's in trouble.
Yep. Previously they decided not to file charges.Wait. So this already went thru the courts and he was found innocent of any wrong doing. So now all a sudden people are making a big #### out of this?
Those pictures are nothing compared to marks I had and I imagine millions of kids in Texas are still getting.I'll wager you haven't seen the photos. The overreactions to this are going to be mind blowing fun to watch.
If you think that extent of injuries to a 4 year is nothing and to think such is an overreaction, you'd be in a very, very small minority.I have and again the overreactions are going to be amazing to see. Scary trend in our lives today.A particularly depressing aspect of this and the Ray Rice situations is that at least 90% of people's responses are emotional, thought-free reactions that inevitably come down on one extreme or the other, when the truth is somewhere in the middle. Unfortunately, that requires patience and thinking, which very few want to do.
Honestly I thought the damage was exaggerated until I saw the photos.Agreed, but as in the Rice case, why do we need the pics or the video (repeatedly) to know or understand what was done was wrong.Okay, some pics are out, there are lacerations and bruising. He's in trouble.
Oh, social control, is social control. If I had it my way, I'd have had you sniped from a windowsill moments after your first reply. However, I try to uphold the rules that our culture has done fairly well with in the last 239 years.Based on your initial post, I guess you think OJ should be walking the streets too, since a jury of his peers acquitted him.I'm a veteran, single father of three and a patriot who believes firmly that media can be just as unfair as life. Sometimes media and technology bring crimes out into the light, that would otherwise remain unsolved.
Where are the pics? A 4-year old...really?Those pictures are nothing compared to marks I had and I imagine millions of kids in Texas are still getting.I'll wager you haven't seen the photos. The overreactions to this are going to be mind blowing fun to watch.
This is a great post. A couple of other thoughts I have:A particularly depressing aspect of this and the Ray Rice situations is that at least 90% of people's responses are emotional, thought-free reactions that inevitably come down on one extreme or the other, when the truth is somewhere in the middle. Unfortunately, that requires patience and thinking, which very few want to do.
What AP did to that boy is awful and tragic. It is also consistent with his upbringing and his faith (to be clear, those don't excuse it, but they provide context for understanding how it happened). The fact that he believes he is acting in the best long-term interest of his son is important, no matter how ill-informed that belief may be. That's different from him being pissed off about losing a game and taking it out on his kid. The NFL will do whatever is in its best financial interest, and if we're lucky that will align with what's best for AP Junior. Maybe a two to four-week suspension for AP while he goes to counseling to learn how to be a strong father without resorting to violence, especially at that level. States may disagree on whether corporal punishment is allowed, but there is still a line and this is clearly beyond it.
Do you even remember being 4?I have and again the overreactions are going to be amazing to see. I had welts on my ### for days from a metal fly swatter. I would have preferred a switchI'll wager you haven't seen the photos. The overreactions to this are going to be mind blowing fun to watch.

Even cavemen think you're a caveman.Since 1990 most of this country's school shootings have taken place. You know, around the same time people started complaining about whipping our kids, both at home and in school. A little fear of parents and teachers isn't necessarily a bad thing, but no way in hell I'll ever convince anyone under the age of 42 otherwise, so I won't. Just keep raising your kids telling them how great they are and at the same time not paying attention to what's going on in their lives, and make sure they collect that trophy for just being on the team, even though they suck because you don't have the time to give them instructions on how to hit and catch a ball and when they go shoot up a school, remember, I told you so.

In the wake of the Odessa mom who was arrested July 7 for spanking her 11-year-old son, there has been renewed discussions concerning the line between discipline and abuse.
Law enforcement agencies and Child Protective Services both said that physically disciplining children in Texas is legal, but stressed there is a limit.
"The law authorizes (spanking)," Sheriff Gary Painter said. "But there can be no serious damage to the child. That's when it becomes abuse."
But it isn't necessarily that black and white.
Texas law defines abuse as a "physical injury that results in substantial harm to the child, or the genuine threat of substantial harm from physical injury to the child," according to section 261.001 subsection 1C.
The most common answers from officials was that parents must not leave substantial welts or create bruising. Also, the area spanked should be confined to the upper thighs.
Despite the seemingly nebulous terminology, the court systems, law enforcement agencies and CPS agents have discretion during investigations.
For instance, in the case of the recently arrested Odessa mother, Carolyn Puebla Navarrette, 30, police officials declared the physical punishment over the top and excessive. The police department and Municipal Judge Dennis Jones ruled after hearing the evidence that Navarette did abuse her son. The police report said there was "noticeable bruises to his leg, lower back, shoulder and left forearm."
If parents decide to physically discipline their children, Marleigh Meisner, a CPS spokesperson, said they should use only the appropriate level of force.
But even spanking, when used appropriately, only has limited benefits. These benefits also decline as the child gets older, said Marc McQueen, clinical director for the Centers for Children and Families.
Both said that parents never should use weapons such as belts, switches or paddles. Rather, parents should look at other forms of punishment, like loss of privileges and withholding rewards. Parents also should be more proactive by using positive reinforcement for good behavior, McQueen added.
"If (spanking is) a primary form of discipline, parents probably need to reconsider how they discipline their children," McQueen said. "Ultimately parents need more tricks in their bag."
But even beyond physical punishment, McQueen said parents never should discipline their children while angry. He suggests parents calm down and think rationally about the offense and determine a punishment because the desired result is more likely when cooler heads prevail.
But some in West Texas, like Painter, feel that spanking is a necessity.
"More kids ought to be whooped," he said.

they're still tryin' to get him from that bar thingSeriously...how bad is it if you are being indicted in TEXAS? Christ
Causation does not imply correlation.Since 1990 most of this country's school shootings have taken place. So, because you were hit harder (or had worse injuries from it), it's ok?Those pictures are nothing compared to marks I had and I imagine millions of kids in Texas are still getting.I'll wager you haven't seen the photos. The overreactions to this are going to be mind blowing fun to watch.
In Peterson's defense, the 4 year did push down another kid and he only hit him about 15 timesWhere are the pics? Who the hell takes a switch to a 4-year old?
My dad slept with a supermodel.I love the "Well it happened to me, so it's okay if it happens to X" argument.
LUXURY!!! I had my head cracked open and my brain oozed out at least once a week, if I was LUCKY!I have and again the overreactions are going to be amazing to see. I had welts on my ### for days from a metal fly swatter.
