playoff contest (1 Viewer)

Went with Panthers and Bengals for the win.

Spent $8 on teams I expect one game from.

$16 on teams I expect two games from.

The rest on Bengals and Panthers.

Seemed logical, but might not be a winning strategy
How does your roster compare to QG? Can you beat him in a Bengal/Panter SB?
He only can if he has every single Panther and every single Bengal. I only left off Jonathan Stewart. But I have a tougher road to get there - will certainly be sweating the cut lines more.

-QG
Yeah, I didn't go all in like that. You might have made the better call
not the way the Colts are playing ;)

Not really sure how this stacks up to other entries, but I had fun. Skipped over NO, KC & CIN players.
Seems like it could possibly get you to the sb round but prob hard to contend.

If the Chiefs play the Panthers in the Super Bowl, I like my chances. Still need a lot of help to make it through the 2nd round. If the Eagles and Chargers can win this weekend, and my Super Bowl teams make it there, I'll be tough to beat.

Went with Denver vs SF.

Denver-

Manning- $35

Knowshon- $19

Montee Ball- $8

Demaryius Thomas- $20

Wes Welker- $12

Julius Thomas- $16

Prater- $12

SF-

Vernon Davis- $15

SF D- $9

Manningham- $3

KC-

Charles- $16

NE-

Vereen- $9

Went all in pretty much. Need a lot of scoring from SF today to survive week 1 and obviously I need a DEN/SF Super Bowl or I am out.

I decided I would go DEN/SEA here as while popular the trick is getting there AND with enough ammo to win. I took a chance on Harvin over Ball hoping for some explosive play down the stretch and a bit more uniqueness factor.

At the last minute I decided KC would win and swapped out Brown and others for Charles (urgh).

I see PHI winning this week and very likely against CAR next making Foles/McCoy key to my chances.

I see CIN winning once and if they win twice against NEP that's fine too I should have someone alive vs DEN in week 20 either Green or Vereen/Thompkins.

I avoided SF/GB figuring they'd play SEA next week unless NOS wins which would crush me anyway.

With JC's injury I may regret using some Pats to survive later instead of more week 18 players.

I've got a shot at 50-70 points if my 3 big guns all produce big games. If I do advance I really like my chances if JC is ready next week ... although I'll need a low cut line this week after losing out on 15-20 potential points from Charles.

QB - Nick Foles - 24
RB - LeSean McCoy - 18

RB - Jamaal Charles - 16

RB - Shane Vereen - 9

You know that you only get to score your top two 49ers plus the pittance from Charles. I can't see you surviving either of the next two weeks. Hopefully there are more lineups like this so my 50-70 can float!

And if you get by this week, no way you will get by next week. Not enough players to score from.

Had my wife pick my team this year. She won 4 football pools this year and I won zero. Also I really stunk it up in fantasy this year so I figured she couldn't possibly do any worse than me.

This kind of team might keep you afloat for a few weeks but literally has no chance of winning the grand prize. If it ends up being a Denver-Philly Super Bowl, someone will have you covered. IMO if you're picking a wild card team to make the SB you need 10+ players from those two teams to stand a chance.

Went all in on a SEA/SD Super Bowl. It's a very loooooong shot but I figured there were very few that went with this combo. The popular combos of SEA, Den, NE, SF comes down to a crap shoot so I figured the way to win this was to pick an unpopular combo and hope luck goes your way. Considered a NE or CIN in the Super Bowl but liked the prices for the SD players and what the heck. Will probably be done after week 1 but go big or go home.

If I somehow survive until the Super Bowl I'll have 18 players going. Took a lot of cheaper players to hopefully get me through the first couple of weeks.

Good luck to all

Did about 10 iterations of this team and iterations 1-9 had Knile Davis on them. Sadly, iteration 10 did not. In fact, he was the 5th when I was asking about 5 players earlier in the thread besides 2 49ers and 2 Bengals. Sigh.

Kc-Philly bowl for me. All players on both teams owned.

Sprinkled in Brady , Rogers and a few cheap pats and pack to spend the rest of my money

Glad you had fun, but you have no chance at winning.

I went PHI/CIN super bowl, 15 players from those teams. I'm assuming I will make it through this week, only 6 players scoring, but based on week 1 cutoffs from last year, hoping that will be fine. But next week will be tough - aimed for 8 players scoring, so the two tops from PHI & CIN, plus Manning, Marshawn Lynch, Donald Brown and TY Hilton, thinking IND would win this week. That's not looking so hot now... and I don't see a way to make it thru next week with only 6. Go Colts!

More points scored in 1st half of KC/IND game than any game Total in Wildcard round last year. 34.25 points per game was the average in the 4 games.

Only 2 of your SF players will count this week.

I like NO experience to shine thru and for them to get some revenge in Seattle. Should get two good scores here this week. If they lose tonite I'm done, if they win, two scores next week.

QB - Andrew Luck - 20

RB - Jamaal Charles - 16

I'm pairing these because one will advance and score next week. Luck will be a nice score this week, but Charles is a week one bust.

WR - A.J. Green - 19

WR - Marvin Jones - 10

Two scores for this week and I expect them to advance to provide two scores next week.

Want a cheap option for some week 2 points. Debated between him and Davis...obviously missed.

SEA vs CIN please said the Pats fan. Not the Pats year with key injuries and Brady losing his mojo (watched Austin Powers last night). Hopefully not a popular combo.

Tried to navigate a SEA/NE Super Bowl, but only pieced together 10 guys between them.

Brown/Hilton gamble looking good.

How will the luck fumble TD count in the contest? Based on the rules it sounds like it will count for Colts DST.....Maybe it's rhetorical based on below.

From Rules: Defensive/ST TD = 6 points (Kickoff return, punt return, blocked FG return, blocked punt return, interception return, fumble recovery return, etc. Note: ALL fumble recoveries and non-offensive TDs will count)

Um .... it was an offensive TD. Should be a rushing TD for Luck

Right. It wasn't Defense or Special Teams

I don't think so based on what you bolded... ie All Fumble recoveries will count... It doesn't say count for the offensive player it says that in the DST section. I think these are usually scored by the NFL as offensive fumble recoveries but not really clear to me.

I went with a Cincy/GB Super Bowl. Low chance of it happening, but didn't figure many would pick that combo. Filled out my rosters with a few CAR players and some cheap guys for a total of 29 players (8 being kickers).

Well I get to keep Donald Brown for next week after all. And the 24.2 he got for me is a good start.

McCoy, Celek, Lacy, Starks and the 2 best Bengals to go.

If there are 5000 entries, that gives the average entry 1/5000 chance of winning. So my strategy was to throw a hail mary when deciding on which teams I'll take to the SB in this contest. I figure the Chiefs have about a 1 in 25 chance of making the SB while the Seahawks have about a 1 in 4 chance. So I think there's about a 100 to 1 chance of the SB being Cheifs vs Seahawks. Therefore, if I choose more Cheifs and Seahawks players than anyone else, which seems pretty easy to do considering nobody thinks KC has a chance, then my entry should have a 100 to 1 chance of winning this contest. That is assuming I can make it to the final round.

The last thing I wanted to do was diversify my entry with a few of the best from each team, ensuring that my absolute best possible scenario would be finishing around 50th place...behind those teams that focused on the teams who ended up making the SB. After all, well under 1% of entries will end up winning $ in this contest, so there's no logical choice but to go super heavy on two teams.

So my strategy was to make sure I can pass through to the final round and to ensure that if the SB ends up being KC vs Seattle, I'll be all but guaranteed to win 1st place.

QB - Russell Wilson - 27

TE - Sean McGrath - 3

PK - Steve Hauschka - 10

PK - Ryan Succop - 7

PK - Graham Gano - 6

TD - Kansas City Chiefs - 8

TD - Seattle Seahawks - 8

Total value: 250

Projected score in week 1: 100 points

Projected score in week 2: 180 points

(week 3 and SB don't matter. If KC and Sea are still in it, I figure I'm guaranteed to be at the top of the pile)

So I figure there's about a 1 in 100 chance of me winning 1st place, which is WAY higher than the average 1 in 5,000 chance of the average team.

Go KC! Here's hoping that solid defenses with conservative offenses do well again like last year.

Almost made 2 last-minute changes:

1) Amendola for Ridley and McGrath (Ridley just seemed too tempting)

2) Major overhaul to a NE/SEA SB. The NE RB situation made this too difficult.

Good luck everyone.
Around halftime, it looked like my 100 to 1 had improved to maybe a 25 to 1. KC looked dominant even without their best player. 25 to 1 to win a couple thousand bucks from a free contest? Heck yet, I'd take that any day.

Unfortunately, they fell apart.

Current chances: 0%

Good luck everyone! :)

Took every Seahawk and every Bengal. Also a smattering of packers, patriots and saints.

Took my chances with a low number of cuts the first week. the contest was not heavily publicized this year. You couldn't even get to the entry form from the main site from what i could see. Banking on a record low number of entries.

82.9 with 5 players counting tommorow.Cautiously optimistic about making cut this week.

I hope so. Got my Saint heavy lineup on to week two but only netted about 27 pts from the 5 players. Should be sitting at roughly 70 pts with Green/Jones adding to that.
