PUNK Music Draft - Now Ongoing post awesome punk songs thread (4 Viewers)

not the band I *ALERT*ed...

let's get scandinavian for a sec...

no rules- the leather nun

I almost always take prime mover by them because it's one of my all-timers, but it's more... dunno- pre-grunge/metal than punk. no rules is from the 70s, iirc.

Here. Just give me a minute. Dont stick your fingers into the blade of a snowblower. It hurts like hell.

One of the best venues i have been to for a show is the Nokia theater (now the playstation theater) in times square. My wife who is not a punk rocker surprised me with tickets to see these guys. Not my first time seeing them but it was a fun time. Although dont ask my wife, she fell asleep.

6.14, Anti Flag, 911 for peace

Have never seen these guys live, but I did play disc golf in Golden Gate Park while they played an outdoor concert opening for Alanis Morrisett and Michael Franti

Loved this tune for a long time. Damn glad someone picked it as I don't think I would've gotten to it.

Also, Alanis Morisette and Michael Franti? With Anti-Flag?  Only in ####ing SF, man...

I just caught a glimpse of the NOFX book in my room. For those who have not read it, you should. Its great

Nevermind, these were separate shows.  Michael Franti was hosting free concerts until he got too popular.  Alanis Morisette and Anti-Flag opened for him in different shows.  It worked out because my wife likes Michael Franti, so I got to play disc golf and get ####faced all day without her judging.  Part of me regrets not poking in for Anti-Flag, but if you saw the type of people at these concerts you'd probably play disc golf too.

Franti's first band The Beatnigs released records on the DK's Alternative Tentacles label.

Huh. Never heard of him until his Spearhead stuff, which I like, but not exactly punk. I'll check this out. It's on Spotify.

Jesse Michaels, 10 years post Op-Ivy teams up with Mass Giorgini. Both albums they released are great, but this is probably my favorite song.

06.15 Classics of Love, Common Rider

One of Jesse's greatest songs and yeah that is saying a lot. A song I know so well I don't even have to put it on it when I think of it. I just hit the play button in my head "At 1. Sitting around and thinking of all the beautiful things he could have become..."

Why are you not in this

It was the Power to the Peaceful festival which he started after the US started warring in the ME. Would have groups or singers with anti-war messages. AFAIK Anti-Flag was the only punk act. Franti/Spearhead actually do put on a good show

Rd 6:  5 to 9 by FIDLAR  (10s)

Rd 7: Johnny Quest Thinks We're Sellouts by Less Than Jake

This is one is for the haters who didn't like the Blink pick, thought they were sell outs or not hardcore enough

or is it that we're not punk enough
or is  it that you think ska just sucks
but @Mike Damone, he thinks we're what?

@Mike Damone thinks we're sellouts, sellouts
@Mike Damonethinks we're sellin' out, we're sellin' out, yeah
@Mike Damonet thinks we're sellouts, sellouts
Mikey, yeah
Way to show the haters who didn't think Blink was hardcore enough by picking a ska band.

Ska punk is punk too. Also I thought I balanced it out well with FIDLAR who deliver a hell of a lot of hardocre in 1 minute

Three o'clock! (Three o'clock!) in the morning, double vision with my homies,
Four o'clock! (Four o'clock!) feeling funny, got no car and we got no money.

Ahhhhhh ahhhhh haaaahhhh

Five o'clock! (Five o'clock!) bumming, sunset, drinking forties till we can't see
Six o'clock! (Six o'clock!) get too bent and ask if Evan's got anything

Ahhhhhh ahhhhh haaaahhhh

Eight o'clock! (Eight o'clock!) feeling ####ty, coming down off cheap pcp
Nine o'clock!, (Nine o'clock!) drunk and driving, on my way to Culver city.

Ahhhhhh ahhhhh haaaahhhh

Ten o'clock! (Ten o'clock!) stuck in traffic, taking bong rips in the backseat
Twelve o cloc! (Twelve o'clock!) get arrested on my way to LA County

While I was lucky enough to catch Gorilla Biscuits, I was not able to ever see Youth if Today. I have seen Ray and Porcell many times with Shelter and Ray alone in Better than a Thousand. I talked about Mrs. Acer with my Anti Flag pick, Ill mention her here as well.

I live in the burbs of NYC. Easy drive in to see shows, but no local scene to speak of with a few exceptions I will mention with upcoming picks. However, the community college here put on a big show (for that time) of No Doubt, Shelter and Unwritten Law. I actually got in free for this show bc of my friends hook up with Blink manager Rick. There was a nice little pit going for Shelter. My wife, who was there for No Doubt recalls how these stupid moshers were bumping into her and how awful it was. Funny to think there is a chance one of those guys was me, years before officially meeting.

it doesn't appear the band I discovered today is on the spotify. plus I need to listen to more of them on bandcamp to figure out which tune I'd take anyways... so...

since we're talking ska...

for me, ska/punk begins and ends with:

fishbone- lying ### bithc

one of the best bands live- so fun.

They were the best in that Annete Funnacello movie Back to the Beach

When that first FIDLAR record made the rounds a few years back, I expected I would pfft, kids at it.   But it actually is pretty ###### fun.
