His right to protest and speak his mind, also mine to bust him back in the chops here and I quote...

"I have great respect for the religion, know a lot of people that are Muslim and are phenomenal people,’’ Kaepernick, the San Francisco 49ers' backup quarterback, said Wednesday. “But I think that (rumor of conversion) comes along with people’s fear of this protest, as well as Islamophobia in this country. People are terrified of them to the point where Trump wants to ban all Muslims from coming here, which is ridiculous.

Does that first sentence sound racist to any of you?

MOP: "I know a lot of people who are black and are phenomenal people"...that sound racist to any of you?

Trump: "I know a lot of Mexicans who are phenomenal people"...sound racist?

The last sentence just sort of infuriates me because he offers no solution on how to prevent those who want to hurt us from entering the country easily. Even if CK and the 15% who support him live in their own fantasy planet, 85% of the folks here still kind of think it's a good idea to slow them down and you can't find any American who wants to take in Syrian refugees into their homes, nobody wants to do that and so they don't really want them in their neighborhoods. Americans don't want to be Worldans just yet.

Obama said "He's exercising his constitutional right" and you've interpreted that as "full support".

I certainly don't think he's "garbage" (Obama), but he said more than that. Not sure if it is full support, but it seems supportive.

"But I don’t doubt his sincerity. I think he cares about some real, legitimate issues that have to be talked about. If nothing else, he’s generated more conversation about issues that have to be talked about."

So how much will he donate?
He said he will "donate all proceeds" (in which the exact dollar amount can obviously not be determined at this time). And that is in addition to the $1 million he has already pledged to charities that aid communities in need.

I've always said that athletes and fans should stand at rapt attention throughout the song ... unless one of the words coincides somehow with the nickname or colors of their favorite team, at which point they should loudly scream that word in the middle of the anthem.

For example, I for one get a little misty when those proud Baltimore patriots scream out "O" during the second to last line of the anthem in honor of their favorite baseball team. Or those noble Atlantans who shout "Braves" over the singular "brave" at the end of the song. They truly honor America and the sacrifices of our military with these dignified salutes. It is beyond reproach that Kapernick would undermine their solemn tribute by quietly sitting or kneeling during the song.
RIP Atlanta Knights

For the 1996–97 season, the Knights relocated due to the Omni's impending demolition to make way for Philips Arena, a facility that would become home to Atlanta's second NHL expansion team, the Atlanta Thrashers. During their years in Atlanta, Rick Morgan was their full-time national anthem singer and encouraged the crowd to shout "KNIGHTS!" during the line, "Gave proof through the "KNIGHTS" that our flag was still there."[1] It was customary to hear an emphasized, shouted "KNIGHTS!" during the national anthem at Atlanta Thrashers games at Philips Arena by spectators in honor of the team.

I really hope they don't do a protest on 9/11.  I'm sure they are perfectly happy to disrespect the 60 fallen officers who gave their lives trying to save complete strangers.

Trump admires Putin's leadership skills and he is considered a commie lover....Kaepernick and his fellow black millionaires sit during our National Anthem and they are heroes....WTF

Your hero Vlad isn't a commie. He's a fascist and so is your orange boy. But at least he's white, so he's got that going for him in your eyes.

Your boy Colin Kaepernick can't even beat out Blaine Gabbert for the starting job....Blaine Gabbert :lmao: ...but because he is boinking a black activist he feels like he has to play the part and protest the National Anthem in honor of false scenarios..So, he, you and all your types have that going for you...

Here it is again in case you forgot, after all it was minutes ago. If it helps, the exciting QB duel with Blaine Gabbert isn't really the issue here.
One of the players said whatever they do they will do as a team...Do you think the white players are going to take a knee of sit in solidarity of the false scenario of the BLM protest...I don't

Nope rhymes with Duck Face
In the old days, Joe Bryant would have given you a timeout for circumventing the language filter. But the new and improved Footballguys is much more lenient when it comes to hypocritical bigots who abuse other posters.

I'm sure I'll still be gone..but somebody has to stand up to the narrow mind bullies...

I have no idea..... Why do you think they won't?.....Do you think white football players have a different perspective on the issue of African-Americans and their experiences with law enforcement?......If so, why?

Not arguing either way, but if I'm looking for a perspective on law enforcement, it typically doesn't come from a multi-millionaire celebrity.

Pretty good opinion piece from the LA Times about black athletes who have been shot, beaten or killed by police over the years.  Maybe what the world needs is exactly what Kaepernick is doing.  Not sure how you can read this and conclude that there is NOT a problem in this country surrounding police officers and black men, whether they are privileged or not; well monied or not.  It's a problem.  Good for guys like Colin making some sort of stand.  People are listening and watching.

hmmmm, I may have to switch up my Monday evening plans:

Operation Care Comfort has asked the USCG to provide 25 personnel to unfurl the flag at their home opener. The game is next Monday, Sept 12th, at 7:20 vs. the LA Rams. Members must report to Levi's stadium by 1515. The Uniform is trops with combo covers. Each member will receive 1 ticket to the game for themselves and 12 parking passes will be distributed evenly between the 25 members so carpooling may be required. All members must receive supervisors permission for early dismissal to attend the event. Tickets will be distributed at the conclusion of the pregame ceremonies.

I don't think they will because Kaepernick and a handful of others protest is mostly seen as ridiculous and without justification...Maybe they should spit on or slap a veteran across the face....Oh that's right, they already virtually did.

The anti-police movement is making this country worse.  Violent crime is going to continue to rise if police are afraid for their jobs and their lives.  It's amazing people don't understand the consequences of the last two years.

You said that the white players would behave differently than the black ones..... I don't want a Donald answer where you pretend the original statement doesn't exist, I want to know why you think white players and black players would act and think in a racial bloc in this matter.

You don't strike me as much of a 'reader', so I'm guessing this story was missed on your Fox news scroll feed.  I'm also guessing you never served our country based on your general lack of true respect for our freedoms.  Here's a nice story about a man who did serve our military and his relation with the QB you just love to hate.

How Kaepernick came to kneel

When former Army Green Beret Nate Boyer met with Colin Kaepernick in San Diego last Thursday around noon, a few hours before the Niner quarterback’s important preseason test against the Chargers (he passed and will start the season as the backup to Blaine Gabbert), Boyer showed Kaepernick a text message from a fellow Ranger who was still serving overseas. Boyer shared the text with me but not the name of the soldier in the special forces—and he shared it with Kaepernick last Thursday too. It read:

Hey buddy. At first I was with you on this Kaepernick issue. However, I just stood in formation while one of our brothers was pulled off a plane with our nation’s flag draped over his coffin. I had to fight back tears as I saw the pain in the eyes of Staff Sgt. Thompson’s wife and family. While I would like to sit here and tell you I rose above it all, I have to be honest, my heart filled with rage—rage for anyone who takes for granted the ideals and symbol of what we fight and die for.

After reading the text, sitting in the lobby of the San Diego Westin Hotel with Boyer, Kaepernick was moved. According to Boyer, Kaepernick said: “How can I express my feelings better, without hurting guys like this so much?”

“Maybe,” Boyer told him, “there’s a way for you to show respect for those fighting and dying for this country.” Sitting, to some people, is an extreme act of disloyalty to the country.

Boyer suggested he stand and simply bow his head. That wasn’t for Kaepernick, presumably because he’d said he wasn’t going to stand for the anthem. Kaepernick decided to take a knee instead, because often people take a knee to show reverence. “I told him if he took a knee I would stand next to him,” said Boyer. “So that’s how I ended up on the field next to him.”

But Boyer also told Kaepernick anything he did before the anthem would be an empty gesture unless it was accompanied by taking action himself. Kaepernick announced he would donate the first $1 million of his salary to a community organization with goals consistent to his.

Still, and even with the heroic Boyer in his corner, Kaepernick is going to have a tough road in a country where many view his politics as anti-American and traitorous. “YOU’RE AN AMERICAN ACT LIKE ONE” read a sign in Qualcomm Stadium on Thursday night.

He is acting like an American fighting for his rights and expressing a strong opinion, and dissenting. That’s something more people need to understand.
