Jim Thomas called into a drive home show about 10 minutes ago. He said the story would be on STLToday.com shortly. Sorry no link yet. Bump Burton big time....
Avery out with stress fracture

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
07/29/2008
MEQUON, Wis. _ Second-round draft pick Donnie Avery, the first wide receiver taken in the 2008 draft, did not participate in Tuesday afternoon's practice because of what Rams officials described as a stress fracture of the hip area.
Avery suffered the injury Monday in practice, coming down on the hip after a catch. He was given a complete round of tests Monday, and the injury is not thought to be serious.
Team sources said he would miss anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on how the injury responds to rest and treatment.
Avery watched in shorts Tuesday as his teammates took part in a full-pad practice at Concordia University Wisconsin.
The injuries continued to mount on other fronts as well Tuesday.
Starting right guard Mark Setterstrom was taken off the field with an unknown injury. So was linebacker Vince Hall, the rookie free agent from Virginia Tech. Tight end Anthony Becht wasn't practicing because of a hamstring injury.
In Setterstrom's absence, rookie John Greco was working with the first unit at right guard. Richie Incognito was working at center instead of Brett Romberg.
As is Keenan Burton.Drew Bennett is totally undervalued now
Doesn't he play for Miami? Are you referring to Derek Stanley? If so.http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/st...98?OpenDocumentAny reports on Hagans' progress?
Been reading nothing but good things about Burton ... he's one to keep an eye on. As far as Bennett, he reminds me of Duce Staley. Duce had a big 200+ yard game vs. the Cowboys and he was living off the fumes from that game for years. Bennett is the same way, still living off the fumes of the Volek Era ...As is Keenan Burton.Drew Bennett is totally undervalued now
He mean Marquis Hagans converted Qb to Wr from Virginia.Doesn't he play for Miami? Are you referring to Derek Stanley? If so.http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/st...98?OpenDocumentAny reports on Hagans' progress?
Jeff, seriously...I understand people want to talk about this guy but Bennett has some actual track history with a peak season of 80/1247/11 TD...but even 2005 and 2006 he put up an avg of 50/700/3 TD...I think Bennett can easily achive those numbers in St Louis as long as the OL holds up. Thos numbers make Bennett around top40...he is being projected 52nd, and his ADP is about WR 55 off the board...could be some value to be found here. Not excited about a rookie coming into St Louis and learning a fairly complex offense, pass.As is Keenan Burton.Drew Bennett is totally undervalued now
Could be passing on the next Colston. Championships are not won by drafting Bennett type players who achieve 700 yd 3 Td seasons.Jeff, seriously...I understand people want to talk about this guy but Bennett has some actual track history with a peak season of 80/1247/11 TD...but even 2005 and 2006 he put up an avg of 50/700/3 TD...I think Bennett can easily achive those numbers in St Louis as long as the OL holds up. How many Colstons in the NFL? How many rookie 7th round picks catch 70+ as a rookie and 98 the 2nd season? I like to play for the higher odds, and I agree that Bennett is not going to win you your league...I would say he is but a Holt injury away from possibly being the primary WR on this team. Avery went down, Burton might be asked to do more quickly, but to take it to the ridiculous of passing on the next Colston...but it sounds good Irish.Could be passing on the next Colston. Bennett probably can be a nice bye week, injury replacement whose upside is potentially higher than thought of by the masses. Every year, there are boring, so-called low upside veterans who are good situations to produce. Having a good eye this type of player is essential to fantasy success as picking the couple of rookies who don't play like rookies.Jeff, seriously...I understand people want to talk about this guy but Bennett has some actual track history with a peak season of 80/1247/11 TD...but even 2005 and 2006 he put up an avg of 50/700/3 TD...I think Bennett can easily achive those numbers in St Louis as long as the OL holds up. I too am baffled at the how a stress fracture of the hip = "anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks." Amazing what technology can do these days, isn't?I'm not a doctor - I just play one on the innerwebs - however I would think that a stress fracture of the hip would give rise to a huge amount of caution given the downside to such an injury not healing correctly. The estimate of missing "anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks" seems amazing optimistic IMHO. Am I off base here?
